Me oh my! Chris, of all the videos of yours I Love this one the most. I want to go there. Hey, when you two were distracted by Mr Toad, to (our left) of him was a nice yooperlight you missed. Bri, I'm in Northern California and want to know what is the best time to go looking for yooperlites in Northern Michigan or what months to avoid? It may sound silly, but looking at those awesome stones gives me joy. I am not on facebook or instagram. Is there another way to view your art and perhaps purchase something with yooperlite? Even the name is joyful, right?
      No worries either way. Where there's a will, there's a way. : )

They are actually related to granite. I mean, they're cousins! Yooperlite is made of Syanite which is cooled magma with inclusions of Fluorescent Sodalite. But they hardly have any quartz in them at all. Granite is made the same way, just with no sodalite and lots of quartz.

I stood exactly where you were walking in the beginning of this video. And what I was told is that you'd be in the wrong area where those rocks are found. I could be wrong. Maybe she was talking about one area specifically by her.
Ps. While there we ran into some guy and he told us not to be walking around the woods area of the UP from dusk to dark that strange things happen after dark. He told us that you can't see your hands in front of your face and to always make sure you have 3 ways to start a fire. Which i already knew about all this. Pretty much its another missing 411 case. Be careful

Try "Jade Cove" California coast Big Sur, especially after a big storm as all sorts of some gem quality stones are tossed up to the narrow beach of rounded pebbles. This type of Jade isn't the expensive kind, but i have found flawless light green stones(definitely superior quality)just combing the beach. Found Agates and Petrified wood also while climbing the steep drop off leading to the beach. I am sure they(by now have posted a no take stones sign by now---my tour was with two Navy UDT guys in the 1950's(one was my dad). Dad & his team mate just wormed their way thru the heavy kelp to eventually get 500 pounds that they slabbed for fireplaces.

I've never had any desire to go to Michigan except for Petoskey stones but now I can add yooperlites to the list.

I photograph on the weekends in WNC and have lived in SC for nearly 14 years. I fell in love with crystals about 5 years ago. I never even knew there was such a thing as a Yooperlite rock! You mentioned your girlfriend Bri is a native of the UP and so am I. I am from Traunik between Escanaba and Marquette. Family has unsued property of several hundred acres 15 miles south of Munising in Alger County with tons of fossils but I would really like to find some Agate in KY if you could tell me a safe spot because no one I know is really interested nor can I hike much anymore.

The green and pink is possibly Unakite it's commonly found at your location. Also called the relationship stone. Fits the feels of this video.
