It's all standard, he only uses custom IRs which you have to download for free (i.e. from Seacow Cabs) or buy from 3rd party sites. They are optional but make your Ampero sound much better 😊
Your videos on the Ampero have: a) Pushed me over the edge on buying an Ampero and b) been really helpful in learning about dialling it in. The Seacow cab shout has absolutely changed the game for me with this as well, amazing IRs that have blown everything else I've tried out of the water. Thanks man, great stuff.
Brother this little Multi Effect unit just continues to impress me! Ive had them all through the years going all the way back to the 1980s with the old ART and Yamaha units as well as the GT100, HD500X, my AxeFx Ultra etc and this little guy is awesome. Exceelt job on this tone and BTW I got the cab pack. I love watching these patch creation videos u do! Keep them coming my friend!
It will be a great tone with a Hi cut ar 8khz and Bass cut at 55....also I would try a RAT, Distortion + sim with the amp with low drive and high output.... the amp drive should find a sweet spot in 40-66 range, with Bass 54, Mid 68 and Hi 47 with presence value aroun 9
I use GE Mooer Labs at work when I’m just messing around on the computer. For my Tool Adam jones tones I use a Friedman as a basis as I can get really close. Crank up the mids. Turn down the gain a bit. I do the same as your. Crank the presence and dial back the treble. Surprisingly good tool stuff.
I don’t get how the Ampero is still somewhat obscure...money really wasn’t a concern when switched to a modeler/frfr rig and I still picked this. I just think it’s the easiest modeler around to get a thick, saturated sound. I felt like with everything else I was really fighting to get that sound or enough gain out of it while still sounding pleasant. Like with the AXE3 I could not for the life of me get a Soreption style tone at all. Just wasn’t happening. On the Ampero it took one free IR and maybe 5 minutes and it was there. Cant beat this little thing...I just wish it had a more powerful processor.
Never heard of a Hotone Ampero before. I already bought a Helix Lt though and love it. It's also well supported and has many pro guitar players giving helix advice on TH-cam

Good video Taylor - thank you . Got the pack, great recommendation - you do get a killer sound from the Ampero - for some reason mine doesn't seem to have the level of gain until I switch on an Overdrive - usually the green one.
I don't really know is that a bug, or it was intentional, but governor differs in high frequencies with same settings, if he is on fx1 or fx2. On fx1 it seem to have more treble. Great videos Mate!

The singer of Stryper has an old video of him using a tech 21 para eq to get his tone, but now he uses a theta preamp ( he's an endorsee if theta) in the effects loop of a mesa boogie or marshall, but I don't really understand it. I used to use a graphic eq with an arrow shape to get the boston tone trick, and it kinda sounded like Stryper. Stryper is, and was the best Christian rock band of all time 😛😉.. Everyone knows that. Michael Sweet can both sing and play a mean guitar. His brother is an awesome drummer too, and Oz Fox is a killer lead guitarists. I heard Michael sweet say something about reducing 800mhz. I think. Or boosting it, but I can't get it. I wish I could. They have a killer killer tone.. Cuts thru the mix.
Did you know they've released an even smaller version of this called the Ampero One? Curious to see if it holds a candle to it's bigger brother. Just about all the Friedman models I've heard sound awesome, some are better than others, but I don't think I've heard a bad one yet. Rock on mate! 🤘🏼

@@rmacfarland1 gotcha. I made a video about it, but I'm continually disappointed with how Mooer handles their customer experience. I wasnt blown away by the new amps and cabs, but it was almost a let down by the time I actually loaded them because of the hassle in the process. I dont think I've ever had a piece of gear that takes so many steps to update.
How can I translate these sounds through an amp? It sounds very average out of my Boss Katana 50 Mk2 via the rear input (acts similar to FRFR). Do i get a Headrush speaker for best results? Or are there other similar FRFR speakers that will work well without spending a fortune. Just for playing at home.
Awesome content . Was wondering if running a Ampero through a ffrr was a good option instead of my amp and cab ? That way in can use the amp IR and the Cab IR , get the best of both worlds ? Taylor have you played a Ampero thru a ffrr ?
@@TaylorDanley no skipping the amp sim on models, ampero gigaboard, ge 250 etc etc and just using overdrives or distortion pedals in that unit and see how that sounds but also using the cabs or ir thru a power amp just curious , keep metaling
My ampero doesnt sound like that at all. Wtf? With exact settings like yours it just sounds muddy and flat, like under a blanket. And nooooooooise is horrible. Yes im using noise gate. Pickup is sh4. Whats the problem?
I do think they emulate the power section, they just dont give you any control over it. It makes sense if you are modeling real amps and dont want to swap tubes, and adjust biases while profiling those characteristics. But it's kind if standard now, so it's a little unusual.
The real Friedman HBE amp has a fixed depth circuit that gives a lot of bass boost, this circuit is in the power amp stage, you can hear that special low end freq boost in the Amerpo's Friedman Modeler. So I think Ampero do have power amp sim.

🙌 Yes, I'm aware. And as far as I know it's the same unit, just in smaller form. Kind of a weird choice from Hotone, but 🤷♂️

In regards to the Seacow IRs, is there a difference in quality between the paid for packs and the free stuff on the Seacows website?
I think they get better as he keeps releasing them. That said, I'd pay for the free ones as well. I've always been surprised they were free.

Could be the audio interface or speaker/amp you're using.
Sounds pretty good, but what a disappointment that they don't even try to emulate the power amp. Arguably you're only getting half the tone.
