@@athleteantiquities Yeah, I'm always interested in the different Pokemon sets and their unique characteristics, like what makes each set special. Which cards, the arts, what type of printrun, etc.
I started collecting very young (around six) during around the time ex hidden legends came out. I just got back to collecting after leaving at the end of dp era. There's not a lot of videos covering ex era as most other videos are either base set vintage or modern. Just seeing the cards on video alone makes me want the cards even more compared to seeing online listings.
Glad to see someone else passionate about pokemon. I have 25 gold star cards and after i die i wonder what will happen to them. I hope someday they find another good home. Out of sentimental value, not out of price.
i’m currently only 8 cards away from having every english gold star in a PSA 9, and i could not agree more with your thoughts on the EX era as a whole. best era of the TCG by a large margin.
This video was awesome man, thankyou for making it! EX era gives me the most nostalgia out of any era of Pokemon; loved getting the packs when I was younger. Pains me how many packs of Rocket Returns and LGFR I opened and how expensive they are now - shoulda kept some! But how were we to know eh! Totally agree with you about the holos and reverses from this era though, easily some of the nicest cards ever printed. The artwork throughout the sets is insane Never got my hands on a gold star though god damn
Great video man! I started collecting cards in this era but I was very very young so I don’t have many cards from it but it’s still very nostalgic for me. It was very cool seeing all your cards and hearing your stories about them, my favorites are still the reverse holos with those amazing set name stamps. Literally cooler than the normal holos imo
I also totally agree that the collecting scene now (while still fun) is basically go big or go home. Even if you get a regular V let alone a regular holo, it still doesn’t hit as hard these classics
I appreciate your kind words, and welcome to the hobby! While I love the EX era because that was my childhood, I don't want to come across as dissing modern. While I think some of the holos and such are lackluster, art in general is as good now as it ever has been. It sucks that things like alt arts are so out of reach to alot of people, but I've found lots of cheaper modern cards that I enjoy just as much.
Awesome video. I just found your channel and I’ve been fascinated. With some of these videos, you just have to wait for people to check it out. Very interesting!
Thanks for the support! I've been in the hobby for awhile now so I thought I'd make some videos and get my thoughts out there. If theres any type of video you'd like to see let me know!
wholesome video to watch. before covid i started collecting/completing some of my personal incomplete sets which was in 2016 and i remember saying this cards are to cheap. i manage to complete 7 wotc sets and filled up on some ex cards. but now just way too many people overpaying for stuff because of wanting to make money. Check the armaldo prerelease only a handful at the moment lowest at $50 highest $150 raw-grade.
I wish I collected cards from the ex era sets when I was younger, as there were still in circulation at my school. But my young mind could not trade a newer gold ex for a plain black one. Love the vid!
Thanks for the insight! My favorite Pokémon to play with was Alakazam so I’m starting a nice collection. After what you said I finally bit the bullet and bought a PSA 9 Alakazam holo from mysterious treasures. Diamond and Pearl set
Very interesting video! Really like the extended stories about the cards/sets. These long video’s are very fun :)
Thanks for the kind words! If theres any other types of long-form videos you'd like to see let me know!

sounds like an awesome collection!
So much good art and nostalgia I was only in elementary during this era with no money lmao but I’d get a pack every once in a while

Awesome collection! and yeah I think more people will realize that soon

Yeah its crazy how much some of these have gone up!

haha we all made poor decisions as a kid. I traded numerous ex cards for an ancient mew because I was convinced it was the rarest card ever.
U missed out
