Interesting observation today while trying to set up a hyperlapse with waypoints. The obstacle avoidance system will prevent you from setting a way point anywhere the drone is close enough to an object to trigger a warning. This occurs even if you have turned off obstacle avoidance system (selected not to avoid).

@@VICVideopIC I had a great shot set up that I wanted to repeat with season changes where I fly toward a statue and out over the water starting low enough to have the sky behind the statue. I can't do it unless I fly well above the statue. That, of course, ruins the shot I am going for . . .

I've found the obstacle detection to be almost pointless. The two times I've crashed my drone were both when it went near a tree/long grass and it didn't detect it. Best just to never go out of line of sight.

Yeah, it gives you a false sense of confidence and will make people think they can pull off things they really can't. I predict a ton of lost drones because people thought they could rely on it.
