  • eBay is turning out to be a really great place to spend money without actually knowing what you're getting. Combine that mystery with the intriguing nature of Japanese games and we've got ourselves one interesting unboxing. So here it is! Japanese PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. AND we fire some of them up. Because like, you kinda have to at that point.

    Saint Seiya is a manga and anime series from the late 80s and 90s. It's giving you the DBZ feeling because of the genre of the series: nowadays often referred to as battle shonen (shonen literally meaning young man or boy, referring to the demographic) Other franchises in the genre you've probably heard of are for example Naruto, One Piece and My hero academia. DBZ was probably the one series that changed the genre's feeling from muscled martial artists beating everyone to teenage boys with superpowers saving the world (kinda funny since late DBZ is just muscled men beating people up). DBZ, or the entire dragonball franchise is what made the genre popular in the west.
    Saint Seiya was really popular in Japan when the manga and anime were coming out but in the west it's surprisingly unknown compared to other similar series.

      @derangel9143 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cezarysturgulewski6205 He's likely based in the US so not knowing Seiya really isn't surprising, no matter his age. Even when it was airing in the US under the title "Knights of the Zodiac" it wasn't exactly popular. It was so unpopular that Cartoon Network canceled their broadcast of it after only 32 episodes. It didn't really get much traction on home video either, especially with ADV already struggling by the time it got around to releasing the DVDs. The recent Netflix work on the series (the new dub for the original and the new series) is the most traction Seiya has ever gotten in the US. So you can't really blame people for not recognizing a fairly niche (in the US) release. In some other countries it was pretty popular, but not here.

    For those who don't know about the Simple series, it was a long running franchise of low budget "indie" titles, they were also released on PS2 and other platforms though I don't think they're around anymore, some more known Japanese franchises like "Oneechanbara" started in the Simple series, most of it is shovelware but there's actually some hidden gems in between, a lot of them also got PAL releases, though usually with different names and the Simple branding removed.

    japanese arent as tidy as you think, big resellers arent as prevelant there, so most stores do mystery boxes/bags with all their unsold products, which a lot of costumers like to buy since they receive a value of 40-60$ in a 20$ mystery bag, which they remove anything valuable and resell them as blind boxes for 5-15$, so and im not kidding these games are most likely never played games that changed 10-30 hands until you received them. Its not rare that you will find a product with 7 layers of price stickers from 7 different stores, in which it was sold originally 8$ then next sticker 7$, 5$, 4$, 2.5$, 2$, 1.50$, 1$ until you bought it.

Thanks to you, I'm gonna try to save up as much money as I can and buy a Ps2 in order to relive those memories I had as a child. I Hope I manage to get my hands on one.
