My mother passed in 2014 i was 14 at the time. I never had a very good relationship with her because her family dont like my dads, so i always thought i could hold my own if I was to see the worst. I was told 2 days almost too late to actually go and see her, it had been five years since i seen her last and when she was laying there she looked asleep and i couldnt stopmyself from saying "mom?" And when I noticed she didnt acknowledge me I cried. I cried to the point i couldnt breath. Thinking back on that time is the only painful memory i have with her. And I dont ever think why can't i see her. I always think i cant wait to tell her this or show her this. Shes not gone forever shes just held up in traffic or forgot something at the grocerystore and turned back. I dont cry about it no more I mean it sucks naturally but its not the end my life has meaning just as hers did. Im thankfull for the time I had

I couldn't make out all the lyrics-it was "live" and the first time I had heard it. I did "get" that it was about his missing someone he cared about very much but who was no longer there (the title was a big hint) but I assumed it was about a woman. Then I looked it up (just now) and see that it's about Lukas's father and I have played it about 6 times and I cried the entire time. My father died 2 years ago. I have a younger brother (older than Lukas but 7 years younger than me) and also a sister one year older. All 3 of us feel as if we absolutely won the Father Lottery. He raised us as a single parent when our mother died shortly after my brother was born. We loved (adored) him so much and none of us have truly finished grieving losing him. But it's my brother who was the one who always felt that he wanted to please our father and try to fill his shoes. But my brother HAS been a success -and even if he had not, my father would have loved him as much and no differently. Guess it's that father-son thing. If today were not my father's birthday, I'd send this song along to my brother now. But I know that he'd completely fall apart. He was just a offered a new job in a totally different field-something that was of a particular interest to our father. But it's still too soon Best to wait a bit before sending it. I listen to this to this song daily because my parent isn't with me and she was the one that I lived with for along time and now I lost her and I live with my dad and even tho my mother did drugs in front of me and didn't give me any attention or love and wouldn't hug also was abused by when I was abused by the man she was with me . she now is better and I love her always and now that I live with my dad I talk about my feeling and get hugs and attention at the right time when need and I thank God for giving me a better life and helping my mother

This is the first time i heard this song, and it's beautiful. But when i read all the comments i broke down in tears. For all the people out there who lost someone they loved and now miss. I am studying for my biology exam and had this song coming up, so i'll take a break and write this to you cause i can't study with tears in my eyes. I learned there are 66 million sperm cells per millimeter, and one of those became you, and the person you lost too. So if your sad, i understand, but just keep in mind that this special person may be gone now but had the incredible chance of seeing the nature around us and having you close to them. Be glad this person enjoyed life, and you should too. Even tho it will be hard and you think it's not worth it, you are lucky to be one of those sperm cells and to have met your family and friends, to have travelled, to see all what the world has to offer and to be able to read this right now. And also to have met that special person that is now gone, but not as long as you keep living, he or she will stay in your heart and will still live if you keep strong and go on with your life. This song's back beat is so "powerful". It has the feel that the song is being played in an auditorium.It reminds me of the way Lana Del Ray uses bass perfectly. But by this songs immensity in feel, I believe it loses it's conveyance of it's personal message. I lost my mom two years ago, Kinda similar, she went in hospital like she would once or twice a year , stay a few days then get better and go home but this time they found incapsulated cancer in her breast. Didn’t have to remove but my sister and aunt encouraged her to do so. She never came home. I’m taking care of my dad. He’s never been the same afterwards. It’s like he aged 20 years after she died. I didn’t really get to mourn her because I had to take over everything immediately for her and him. All that’s fine I can and have handled it. But it’s the dreams I have. Nightmares about her. Some very scary some seem normal but with one thing that is “off”. Like just now I dreamt she’s back but we know she’s dead but not like a zombie. Maybe like a ghost that’s physically there. But her eyes would go all black every once and awhile like a demon in Supernatural tv show. and she’s asking me and Dad why do we eat so much take out we should cook more at home. That’s why I’m up now at 4something in the morning watching this video reading comments.

(Using my son's account). I had never heard of Lukas until 3 days ago when he was on Late Night with Seth Meyers. He sang this song and I thought it was so great. I couldn't make out all the lyrics-it was "live" and the first time I had heard it. I did "get" that it was about his missing someone he cared about very much but who was no longer there (the title was a big hint) but I assumed it was about a woman. Then I looked it up (just now) and see that it's about Lukas's father and I have played it about 6 times and I cried the entire time. My father died 2 years ago. I have a younger brother (older than Lukas but 7 years younger than me) and also a sister one year older. All 3 of us feel as if we absolutely won the Father Lottery. He raised us as a single parent when our mother died shortly after my brother was born. We loved (adored) him so much and none of us have truly finished grieving losing him. But it's my brother who was the one who always felt that he wanted to please our father and try to fill his shoes. But my brother HAS been a success -and even if he had not, my father would have loved him as much and no differently. Guess it's that father-son thing. If today were not my father's birthday, I'd send this song along to my brother now. But I know that he'd completely fall apart. He was just a offered a new job in a totally different field-something that was of a particular interest to our father. But it's still too soon Best to wait a bit before sending it. It's beautiful (but a bit raw) for my brother to hear today, on what would be our our father's 82nd birthday.) Maybe tomorrow. n

this song reminds my dad. he took his life when i was little and my mom wasn’t in the picture so when he left i had no one. i get choked up when i listen to this. i spent many years hating him for what he did but now i’ve realized how much he was going through. i always felt like it was my fault bc he was so young (18 when i was born, mom 15) he took he life at 22. i thought i ruined his. i feel sorry for him, he missed out on a lot. i just wanted to put write this comment for anyone who is thinking the thoughts my dad did or if anyone went through what i did, it will get better. life throws things at us for a reason. stay strong and overcome. there’s a reason for everything!

I am studying for my biology exam and had this song coming up, so i'll take a break and write this to you cause i can't study with tears in my eyes. I learned there are 66 million sperm cells per millimeter, and one of those became you, and the person you lost too. So if your sad, i understand, but just keep in mind that this special person may be gone now but had the incredible chance of seeing the nature around us and having you close to them. Be glad this person enjoyed life, and you should too. Even tho it will be hard and you think it's not worth it, you are lucky to be one of those sperm cells and to have met your family and friends, to have travelled, to see all what the world has to offer and to be able to read this right now. And also to have met that special person that is now gone, but not as long as you keep living, he or she will stay in your heart and will still live if you keep strong and go on with your life. This song's back beat is so "powerful". It has the feel that the song is being played in an auditorium.It reminds me of the way Lana Del Ray uses bass perfectly. But by this songs immensity in feel, I believe it loses it's conveyance of it's personal message. Till today I still blame my self because I wanted to take him to the hospital but his last words to me was "we'll do it tomorrow" that's when I found him gone the next day.. I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom two years ago, Kinda similar, she went in hospital like she would once or twice a year , stay a few days then get better and go home but this time they found incapsulated cancer in her breast. Didn’t have to remove but my sister and aunt encouraged her to do so. She never came home. I’m taking care of my dad. He’s never been the same afterwards. It’s like he aged 20 years after she died. I didn’t really get to mourn her because I had to take over everything immediately for her and him. All that’s fine I can and have handled it. But it’s the dreams I have. Nightmares about her. Some very scary some seem normal but with one thing that is “off”. Like just now I dreamt she’s back but we know she’s dead but not like a zombie. Maybe like a ghost that’s physically there. But her eyes would go all black every once and awhile like a demon in Supernatural tv show. and she’s asking me and Dad why do we eat so much take out we should cook more at home. That’s why I’m up now at 4something in the morning watching this video reading comments.

My grandfather passed away in his apartment yesterday. Now it feels surreal.. having this playing in the background helps a lot.
