Every time I hear this special song I start sobbing uncontrollably because my three children lost their father from cancer when they were very young. I did my best to fill in as both mother and father, but I am afraid that I never was able to fulfill the emptiness it created in their lives. We lost a very special person too soon. Lukas Graham's words are so true in every respect, so much so that it breaks your heart if you have been through loss of a loved one. Each time I hear his song I cry and cry for my children and their father because he didn't get a chance to witness what wonderful and successful human beings they have turned out to be. I couldn't be prouder and I am sure he would have felt the same. So sorry he didn't get a chance to share the birth of his grandchildren and other wonderful events in their lives. RIP

What a beautiful song.. I lost my father Months ago. I'm not close to him that much . I love my father 😔 he is the one who give me life . I fight his illness til the end , but Covid19 didn't allowed him to get his operation. Until his body give up his kidney failed him to live more.
That song just describes everything about our lost dads! A moment of silence for them and the people they made of us, the path they showed us, and the meaning of life they gave us...
At the time I listen to this song I was still upset about some of my father doings and I interpret this as his father leaving /abandoning but now that me and my father are in a good place I view this song as sadness instead of anger and resentment towards my father. I love my father and my family. They are human also but I won't excuse all what they have done but they are human and I'm going to cherish every moment I have with them and I thank you for that.

Seriously, I think this might have been one of the most poignant music videos I've ever seen, Lukas. My dad is still alive, but for most of my life he's lived other places and went through long stretches of being too busy for his two children. There was a period of time in there, that if I'd learned that he'd died, I'd have been sad, but I'm not sure how much I'd have missed him. In the last few years, he's had a few wake-up calls (has nearly died more than once), and is now reaching out to all of us. To his credit, he realized that he'd not only missed out on most of our growing up, but also that of our children (mine are all young adults). He's in the late stages of heart failure now and I sometimes think about the day he won't be there at all. And, now I will miss him terribly.
I know you miss your father. But every song you write about him teaches the rest of us about the brevity of life. I am sure he would be proud to know this. So thank you for shaping your pain into a lesson for others.
