I did the unknown comic bit when I was a sophomore in the high school talent show in 78. I used my little sister, little brother, and my dog in the bit. They all had bags on their heads. All original material. We nailed it. Glory days moment.
i did a simple dumb card trick for my 5th grade variety show....i thought i had my buddy being the straight man.....but he "suddenly" knew the move and had no interest in complying, casually rotates the deck of cards 180 degress, back into the correct appearance (back of cards all facing same way), he then flicks the drawn card back in to the mid deck .... and then he acted completely in the moment of magic!! He wanted ME to be an actual magician......so, because of this, i couldn't pull the card from the fanout! time was running out....i looked and him and i whispered......."the next card i flip is your card!!!!" turns out my friend knew numbers, was a hell of an athlete, also knew card tricksters! were still friends and laugh about this memory often!
I remember after the Unknown Comic made several comedy and talk show appearances, he decided to take off the bag and reveal his identity during his act. It backfired and he stopped getting booked, then he really became unknown.
As a kid I couldn’t wait to watch this and then unfortunately it was the realization after this ended school began. This use to be a couple days of entertainment if I remember it correctly. What are they doing now?
Ten years ago I used to find more clips of the guy. He was on a HBO special in 1983 where he claimed it was his first time taking off the bag. After that when he did stand up started out with the bag and ended up taking it off. He actually did funny comedy with bag off. However just found in the early 70s had a partner that Redd Foxx set up with him and they appeared on The Sonny and Cher Show as well as other shows including The Midnight Special and Tonight Show. He created the Unknown Comic in 1976 for the gong Show but he kept doing it in his routines.
A man and is wife drive into an old fashioned gas station and the attendant say's " what will it be sir" the man reply's fill ER up! so the attendant runs over to the passenger side of the man's car opens the door grabs the man's wife by the hand, they both run into the station " to get the restroom key" then he takes her into the MENS restroom for about 61/2 minutes, they come out she gets back in the car and the husband ask's the attendant before they drive off... aren't you going to clean the windows?
Was Jerry supposed to say his real name at the end? Murray Langston. Funny guy. Just got his book. "Journey Through The Unknown." Looking forward to reading it.
I won best act 3 years strait ( sophomore, Junior, senior) doing a stand up at my high school talent show that we had every November. Kids, get off that damn smart phone! Get out and enjoy life and make life long memories doing this kind of "stuff"
I recall that the unknown comic appeared on another show where he also declared he would show what he really looks like...he pulled off the bag revealing a Nixon mask !!! When he did show his true self, his jokes seemed less funny.
Something rare...Jerry and crowd STOPPED the UC in his tracks for first 60 secs...unfair. BUT BUT Murray Langston rallied to ride out last 4 mins. a pro.
Comedy changes with the times for example I grew up with 90s 2000s and 2010s comedy. Now adays that stuff is considered "bigoted" or "not politically correct", but because it came after stuff like this it was edgy and fresh. people loved it

Miss the Jerry Lewis telethon stayed up many time to watch from beginning to end
This might be the strangest video on TH-cam. Love it.
Best comic of all time
I remember after the Unknown Comic made several comedy and talk show appearances, he decided to take off the bag and reveal his identity during his act. It backfired and he stopped getting booked, then he really became unknown.
Haha yeah the bag was a great excuse to make terrible puns and jokes but when he took the bag off it was the same material 😅
01:20 the unknown comic used to say "yo" before yo was cool 😎
i peeped too
They need shows like this again
The Unknown Comic is bringing the funny in a big paper bag.
There was alot of coke being snorted back then.
when you have shows like the unknown comic in them, you can’t lose!!!
Goat reference
As a kid I couldn’t wait to watch this and then unfortunately it was the realization after this ended school began. This use to be a couple days of entertainment if I remember it correctly. What are they doing now?
You see here an empty bag. I'm talkin about this one 😂
The dance in the beginning was the best part
I used to watch on the game show "Make me Laugh" with the late Bobby Van!!!
If the UN comic doesn't make you laugh you have a serious problem!
UK ...... but let's not quibble LOL
@@coverscapeYou're cool... thanks!
@@tedsterrett7204 35 years as a Grade 7 teacher ...... it's like a curse
@@coverscape 😂 👍
😂 at the Gong 📺 Show when he pulled out the crumpled bags and said:"Want you guys to meet my Grandparents.." 😂
Today is labor day 2020...we could use some Jerry Lewis😪
Jerry was Rolling. .In the 1970s...He was Labor Day & and His Kids.
This guy is hilarious!
loved this guy back in the day🤣
There are rumors circulating that the unknown comic was also the zodiac killer
Murray Langston. I also remember him from THE SONNY AND CHER COMEDY HOUR.
1:42!!!! 🤣
Genius
i think it was his quirky laughter, this guy cracked me up so much as a kid

He's way out there like Jerry Lewis
That is solid gold!
Funny guy I remember from the gong show😎
One Of A Kind, Thanks for the Laughs !!!
Holy crap that was painful. I can't believe I loved this as a kid.
OldTimeHockey you sir have no sense of comedy if you didn’t laugh
It would be on for days... big part of my childhood.
It was hilarious! There were so many great acts in the 70s. Today they’re crap. It’s all serious now.
amazing!!
mr. lewis...you did it again.
😅 time way ahead of time! \m/
Most hilarious part of this bit is the dude in the orchestra (back row far right) putting bag back over his face LOL *3:02

What i wouldn't give to have the 70s back
He was also a regular on the Sonny & Cher Show...Guy was a riot
That's a tight ten

I grew up seeing him.
I was wondering why his bag was a little larger than normal then I saw why in the middle of the act.
"Comedy is my bag!"

I think we can gather that most everyone that was in this video was were on drugs
this guys great? he still do stand up? i hope
IT'S THE BOMBASTIC BAG-MAN!!!
0:03 It reminds me of the early 1930s Looney Tunes theme.
Not a very graceful ending and a big ego but Jerry Lewis did quite a lot of good in his time.
🙋🏾♂️ Doggy bag 🤣😆
I asked for my donation back after seeing this.
Corona virus solved.
Steve Stalzle is a cool guy.
It's hard to believe that there was someone more trite and annoying than Jerry Lewis, but he's met his match.
Something rare...Jerry and crowd STOPPED the UC in his tracks for first 60 secs...unfair.
BUT BUT Murray Langston rallied to ride out last 4 mins. a pro.
I think this is Andy Kaufman it deffinitely sounds like him and he moves the same.
No, it's definitely Jerry Lewis.
Is the joker?
😂
But really..
night patrol!!!
I don’t get it.
Tough audience compared to The Gong Show.
Did these telethons end because muscular dystrophy was cured?
The fake smiles from Jerry really down me.
Obviously America had better drugs back then.
And now the unknown audience. These jokes are a old as Moses toes and twice as corny. LOL
They can't do great comedy like this now thanks to "political correctness" and "wokeness".
That was so stupid and not funny

Annoying😖
Jerry Lewis was a tool. 🤬
The unknown comic.🦾👒
