A lot of ppl have no clue what they’re talking about. I remember some guy at this event called someone’s drift car slow. It’s a drift car… it doesn’t need 500 lbs of torque
Totally agree. I see so many (likely young kids) on tiktok and elsewhere that thing the only good car is one with 600 or more horsepower but they don't understand that those cars are largely unusable on normal roads. I have so much fun ripping around in my 260 whp wrx and probably 140-150 whp prelude because of the way the feel and sound not really because they're so fast
Best "mod" for nearly any 10+ year old car is going to be a comprehensive bushing refresh. I'd love to know how many cars rolling around on fancy coilovers with dead bushings.
Great video, and you guys really nailed the true character of this car. It’s so refreshing after hearing so many others bash the 308/328 cars. About that steering wheel - little known fact, but the steering column actually does have a small amount of adjustment available by loosening two bolts on a clamp that is directly under the steering wheel, moving the wheel down as desired, and re-tightening them. It’s a ten minute job. I’m about 6’4”, so I also added a small spacer between the wheel and the hub. With the moved steering column and the small spacer, the wheel is perfectly positioned when I’m driving the car. It’s a complete game changer.
I think it is so refreshing not to have to see/hear about phablet screens, different driving modes, searching thru level by level...and on and on. Nice to be able to get and a car and just drive, like they were meant to be. Good luck with your new ride. Looks wonderful.
Delighted for you Matt. I had a 3.2 Mondial and concur they are a sublime highway cruiser. 80-90 mph feels phenomenal in modern traffic. I now have a 308 GT4 and it’s very similar. Not quite as precise on the 14 inch wheels, but still terrific. And it’s got carbs :-)
Such a cool post... It sent me back a lot of years seeing this and hearing the motor. When I was a kid the 308 and the 328 were incredibly rare and the sexiest cars on the road that I knew of. I got to 'touch' (one finger, ya really) a real Ferarri as a 12 year old back then. Still magical to see them. Considering what people have done in the car business since then, this is now more of a 'pedestrian' car, but it's still gorgeous, a small displacement v8, a gated manual gearbox and will generate a lot of smiles per gallon. Well done Matt! Enjoy it.
Congrats Matt, hope you have many years of joy with it. My 1983 308 GTSi (silver/burgundy int) was one of the most fun cars I’ve ever owned, miss that car. My GT4RS is halfway across the Atlantic due into the port at Davisville this Saturday. If its half as much fun as the old 308 it’ll be worth it.
After seeing the earlier video on this car, I sent my 328 GTS off to be looked at, I'm now deep into a suspension rebuild & looking forward to getting it back for the Australian summer, I thought it drove well for an old car, I was wrong, thanks for Donnie's hard work, Rj in Oz
Sports car isn't a race car and public road isn't race track...fun driving isn't only about high speed, it's mainly about work with driving that feels mechanicaly perfect and straightly connecting with all used power and forces...it makes that feel of exciting joy....just like e.g. basic Caterham with small engine and narrow tires....
I drive an Acura RSX. I keep wanting to change it to something newer/faster but every time I drive it I'm reminded about that analog driving. I love the old Ferraris, I"m glad you fixed yours up and appreciate the simplicity of driving it. It's a beautiful car.
I have a 5 speed Acura RSX I love too that I drive but I bought another car recently and I put the RSX up for sale because I’m out of space but I can’t help but think I’m going to miss it once it’s gone
@@therealcarlmarti no they dont. go find a manual one in good condition right now. none on craigslist or any of the big auction sites. you'll have an easier time finding a type r or a gsr. non gsr (ls) 5 speed integras are all but extinct from sales sites.
They say don’t meet your heroes - but in black, this thing is divine ❤ Cannonball Run, Beverley Hills Cop II, street-race scene from Against All Odds, and yes, Magnum - 308/328 and the G-series 911 are the 1980s!! Congratulations!!
Thanks Matt for sharing. Great vid and what an awesome 328GTS. Bet she’s a smile for miles now that she’s right again. Rented one in 1990 for me and my beautiful brides’ honeymoon, 32 years later no 328 YET, but still have my beautiful bride and raised two awesome adults and now it’s my freaking time!
Yalls conversation is so spot on. That’s why I went with my 986 Boxster S vs any of the newer 982 or newer models. I wanted modern vintage if that makes sense. That man+machine engagement is so real.
Matt, love everything you do. That said, the content Zach does with actual attainable vehicles are my absolute favs. Zach, need you to review a first gen Lexus LX570, please 🙏.
there are other ways to compensate people rather just just give them money. Matt is a very generous person, I only say that because I've been listening to him for 10years at this point
No joke about it being great on the highway. I have an '85 308. It's the slowest car that I own, but the only one that I find myself at over 100mph on a regular basis. It just wants to go, it feels so good, the fast you go the happier it feels. The highway is certainly its happy place.
Looks phenomenal In black! My neighbor in Michigan in the 80s had a countach 5000s, a Ferrari 308 (or 328?) GTB both in red. I have to say this car looks great in black! Keep up the great work and videos 👍🏻
This is so awesome so happy that this car has made it here I remember following the foxbody build as well enjoy Matt you've been building your business for so many years.
I just need a 2 hour split video of the outside and inside of this car going up and down the mountains with that glorious exhaust. No talking, just exhaust, engine, and shifting sounds.
Great video. Reminds me of my '79 308 (carbs). It wasn't pristine in any way, had about as many miles as yours and was 16 y.o. when I bought it. Bought it as a driver, and it got driven. Triple digits for long periods was a breeze. But parts were expensive, and I shopped for a mechanic before I shopped for a car. Great memories.
A properly setup classic Ferrari is so special to experience. This video gives excellent insights from an owner and are a direct reflection to how I feel about my F355. They ride surprisingly great all of the time. Like floating on a cloud. Ferrari made really special cars meant for driving. Many got a bad name due to neglect and lack of critical maintenance, bushings being important on that list.
Good to see the 328 on the road. Number 27 in UK the Influenzo 308 had installed a spacer to move the steering wheel closer. Then it may be more comfortable to drive.
I personally love a 328!! To me it's just a beautiful car! I love the 308 of course because of Magnum P.I. We all grew up with that show and seeing that car in beautiful Hawaii tearing up the roads over there and the Priests in Cannonball Run.. lol. Between those cars and the Countach, a kids dream. So when the 328 came out it was an updated look to the 308. I know they can't perform like the newer cars but many would not keep that kind of iconic historical look. A car to leisurely enjoy.
I am so excited to see this!!!! So cool :) it’s gorgeous. Love to see it. There is nothing cooler than taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary again. Cheers
love how i'm listening to them talk about 270-ish horsepower being good enough to have fun, being small enough to play within your lane is nice, and engagement is truly more fun than outright speed. then the next video in my playlist is an 1,800hp Corvette with a sequential transmission
Wonderful video very informative. I will say that the 355 Spider is so special in these ways. I look at it as a 328 turned up to 10 with the symphonic sound the 355 makes and wind in the hair. The car feels like it's crawling at 100 mph. Simply amazing machines
Great to see how happy you are with it after all the work. Any plans for a Bespoke exhaust kind of like the one thats on your Countach? I feel the only thing missing is a little more sound.
Think this is the most gentle I've ever seen Matt drive 😂 the smoothest of clutch releases, also there is quite a delay on the pedal cam when Zack is driving
i completely agree on the older car feel, i had a 01 325ci manual coupe and it wasnt fast and its more new than your ferrari but the sensation in the clutch and in the shifter and the steering wheel are on another level compared to new cars.
All good stuff, love how much lane is on either side of car. Lore would say that flat plane crank motors have more inherent vibration however my experience would observe otherwise.
Many years back i got mad at you for perpetuating some unfair, or at least unnuanced stereotypes about Italian cars and Italians in general. Now it seems after years of multiple Italian car ownership experiences you have a much fairer perspective and are doing them proper justice by explaining how some of these stereotypes are unfair and often jingoistic. Matt, you describe all the characteristics of the Ferrari 308 & 328 very well but you forgot one of the main reason to buy or appreciate it that it’s beautiful design a Pinninfarina masterpiece, even that the black color loose all the visual elements that make it beautiful
If anyone says "Yeah but it's not fast" they've entirely missed the point of just owning a car you enjoy. Best of luck with her Matt!
A lot of ppl have no clue what they’re talking about. I remember some guy at this event called someone’s drift car slow. It’s a drift car… it doesn’t need 500 lbs of torque
The only people who care about specs are nerds who have never driven anything fun.
I prefer a car that can take 30 turns at 50 than a car that can do 150.. I like slow car fast!

Yeah, my turbo NB Miata isn’t that fast in the grand scope of things, but it’s fun. Fun makes a car great and enjoyable
Best "mod" for nearly any 10+ year old car is going to be a comprehensive bushing refresh. I'd love to know how many cars rolling around on fancy coilovers with dead bushings.
Now I’m curious. Thanks for adding a maintenance item to my list
My 96 accord with new bushings keeping up with the first gen brz 😅
That's 9 out 10 NA/NB Miatas w/ coilovers.
10/10 for Honda Civics. Also with their balljoints flapping in the breeze.
I'd love to do all the suspension on my 355k mustang.

Matt doing a good job explaining the purchase and the crazy shop bill. I can tell he has been practicing it a lot. 😅
He thinks its done. Ha, ha, ha, its going to be getting work done all the time. Matt is this mechanics best friend.

The 308 design evolution to 328, 288GTO and finally the F40 makes it one of the most iconic designs ever.

If you do look for a change try out an Integra if you can find one. Even better driving engagement than an RSX, and way better front suspension.
@@joeracer302 lets be honest youre not going to find an integra though

Best of luck Matt! My brother in law had a 308 in the same color. It was a dream to just take the top off and cruise and cruise and cruise.
Matt and Zack, you guys are legends! Upmost reverence. 👍

Lovely video.... great to see an old Ferrari driven on the road and an old car fixed up properly.... just a nice cruising sports car
Love it Matt- I have an 88 black on tan. Most fun car to drive ever! So rewarding.
Beautiful. Well done Matt.
Totally jealous - one of my favorite old Ferraris. Can only image what one feels like mechanically restored. Thanks for bringing it back to life.
Matt, love everything you do. That said, the content Zach does with actual attainable vehicles are my absolute favs. Zach, need you to review a first gen Lexus LX570, please 🙏.
i like how these two never tend to interrupt each other, makes for a very pleasurable watch

Matt, you need to pay Zak more. He is a cornerstone in your online operations. Give him a raise!!!!
I don't think you know how much Zack makes a month 😂
We’ve found Zacks burner account!
Do you think pay zak more of perhaps get a midget to sit on his lap and pay him a little and do three person car reviews in two seater cars

Give Donnie some credit....better than a driver. He does a great job in using the correct parts.
It cracks me up how often your favorite cars are my favorite cars. Yes, I’m still driving the DeLorean and the Fiesta ST.
Cheers guys, nice to hear it's now driving as good as it looks. Such a pretty thing, with a little extra attitude added by the black.
