Voge 300 Rally test ride. The little beast which made me dream of a lighter bike [S.2 - Ep.64]

- I really wanna thank Paulo Nogueira, my Portuguese friend who made me try the Voge 300 Rally.
This little beast (i mean the bike, not Paulo 😄) has only 28 HP but is light as a feather, so it seems 3 times more powerful than it actually is.
The engine is impressive: a lot of torque at low RPM but at the same time a great behavior at high RPM, well above 8,000 RPM.
Suspensions are great. They make any road smooth, even when the terrain is very rough. Not too soft, not too hard, they are not adjustable but you actually don't feel the need.
The seat is pretty comfortable, more than enough even for a long ride.
Top speed is surprising: it reaches easily 130kmh and it still has some extra power for overtaking.
The few defects i noticed are:
- no fuel indicator, which is pretty annoying in case you want to use it for a trip, especially because the tank is not huge
- from time to time the engine shuts down suddenly without any reason
- front brake is a bit too light, it lack a bit of power when it's time for an emergency brake.
What do you think? After exceeding any limits of the TRK, bringing her till Himalaya, is it maybe time for another great adventure riding one of the cheapest enduro bike of the market?

My wife and I spend a month cycling in the Algarve some years ago and really fell in love with the Portuguese way of life.
Our experinece of Spain is very limited to the odd visit to a reletive's apartment in Malaga and a visit to Granada,both of which we enjoyed though somewhat a tourist's POV,real life is a different thing altogether.

This voge is a really interesting bike, i'm seriously considering to buy one, even though as far as i know here in italy the only color available is that yellow/greysh i really don't like 🤦🏻♂️

Top motorbike for its category, considering price, specs, responsiveness, reliability, with a fairing that enhances short to middle distance trip experience. I' d not ask for something more from a such type moto.

Thanks. This video might be the final push I needed. I strongly think about buying the Voge 300 Rally. But first it needs to become available in The Netherlands.
Still not available? Well, consider buying one for example in Italy (it's 1000€ cheaper than in Portugal, so I can only imagine the price in a rich country like yours) and just register it in your country.
Here is 4.300€ + around 500€ of registration tax.
You get a cheap flight, you enjoy a weekend in a nice city or somewhere in the countryside, and once you rode it back home the break-in is done 😁

@@ZeroHighWays Thanks. It crossed my mind. Only I'll have to register it again here at an additional tax of about 800 euros.
But the added flight, vacation and trip is a nice bonus of course. And Italy is a beautifull country.
I am also looking at this bike. CRF is too expensive for my taste and this one seems to be a good alternative. In fact the only one I know. And the price is a big pro for the Voge. I am sure that we will see more of them on the road.

Beh, che dire, a parte che la disponibilità di quel ragazzo è senza prezzo, vedendo il video e le tue prime sensazioni alla guida della Voge, mi sono rivisto in te quando sono andato in concessionaria con la TRK per l'ultima volta per poi tornare a casa con la Tuareg 660, noi hai riferimenti, sei spiazzato, molto meno peso e più cavalli, alla prima rotonda stretta stavo andando per terra subito..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.... Comunque, qualunque sia la tua nuova moto (io penso che la Tuareg sia la giusta via di mezzo tra Voge e Africa Twin......) ti auguro tanta buona strada..... Ciao Fede! (seguendoti da un po', mi permetto una leggera confidenza😅) Se hai possibilità, prova anche la Tuareg 660. È vero che sono pur sempre 186kg a secco, ma ti assicuro che rispetto alla concorrenza (KTM, Yamaha) sembra notevolmente più leggera grazie alla distribuzione dei pesi (oltre ad esserlo sulla carta, seppur di poco). Io dopo aver viaggiato in giro per il mondo con varie (comprese endurone da 98kg come la Beta 300 2T), ho scelto di comprare Aprilia per il miglior compromesso viaggio misto on-off/enduro veloce.

Nice!! :D Been riding 200-230 kg "adventure" bikes for some years. But got now a Suzuki Drz400s and soon a KTM 690 Enduro R. Havnt had this much fun in 30 years! Love smaller bikes..Can go anywhere, and can easy get out of any trouble :D Voge 300 looks like a damn good bike! Seems like you had alot of fun riding it :D getting one for next adventure?
That DRZ 400 looks really interesting. Sounds like the perfect balace.
I must admit i still dream about a KTM690... Even though i know it would be too much for me, at least at the beginning (a pretty long beginning 😁) i'm attracted by the idea to have the most capable dual sport ever made and see where it can bring my riding skills.
If i wouldn't have to carry a lot of luggage for a long distance travel, the Voge would be perfect, but i'm pretty sure that with at least 50kg more all the magic would vanish
@@ZeroHighWays the drz400s is a Great bike, but needs Oil change every 5-6000 km. And for luggage it needs some suspension upgrades. You can get HyperPro Springs cheap. Also would need a New seat or upgrade the orginal seat. And some other stuff. The 690 has far better service intervall. And you coudl easy map the engine down so its not to much power :) 690 also dont need suspension upgrades. But would need some mods to. Fuel range upgrades, lower tank bolt needs to change, and upper tank mount bolts needs to be changed ++ Also 690 has 6 gears, drz400 has 5 and the are very low geared :) BUT Great bike if you upgrade it. And can easy take you anywhere. But I have to say, for your travel, 690 could be the best choice. If you travel realy light Voge 300 could be a Great choice indeed :)
@@ZeroHighWays ps: a friend of mine have the Crf250 rally, and full up with luggage. He could still follow us very easy, and we had bikes with dobble power and better gearing. But yes, if it gets heavy it ofc gets slow as hell. So the Voge would still do the trick :)

Ciao Fede. Di' la verità... hai rosicato che le Royal salivano e si inerpicavano in quelle strade pericolosissime come dei camosci e te, pur con una signora moto, arancavi come un elefante.... Se mi posso accodare anche io alla lista dei consigli, per quel tipo di viaggio che ho capito tu voglia fare, la moto ideale, o perlomeno quella che ha le skill che si avvicinano alla perfezione è propio quella che da il nome del continente. Poi, se non riesci a strappare un noleggio/prova/testdrive su quella nuova, anche un bell'usato non sarebbe male. Però, sai come si dice a Roma.... è bello fare il ****** con il **** degli altri... 😂😂 Sperando che l'account sia tornato di tua proprietà, ti dico buona strada e buon tutto 💪🤙👍

Quelle che mi facevano rosicare erano le motorette pakistane, che pesano 3 etti e passano ovunque 🤦🏻♂️
L'Africa è ampiamente fuori budget per me. Già le varie ktm690, tuareg, Teneré ecc lo sono, anche se con grandi sacrifici potrei ancora prenderle in considerazione vedendole come un investimento per il mio futuro.

@@marcomessina7570 leggo di troppa gente che "io il rodaggio non l'ho mai fatto, gas a martello da subito perché i motori vanno sciolti così" per prendere in considerazione di mettere la mia vita nelle mani di una moto di cui non conosca ogni millisecondo di vita. Mi rendo conto che ciò ha un costo, ma lo ha anche la mia tranquillità.
Sono consapevole che anche una moto nuova e tenuta perfettamente possa lasciarti a piedi nel momento meno opportuno, ma diciamo che voglio pensare che così facendo riduco al minimo le probabilità.
Piuttosto che un usato di moto recenti, prenderei in considerazione l'ipotesi di una moto datata (tipo il DR650 che mi nominano tutti) da ristrutturare completamente, magari facendolo da solo (almeno fin dove riesco) così da imparare anche a ripararla da solo (sempre fin dove mi è possibile).

Hola Federico tengo una voge rally 300 y para quien este pensando en comprar una es una moto estupenda con sus 28 cv le puedes pedir lo que estos desarrollan moto de campo y poca carretera para la carretera ya tenemos la trk 502 x estoy muy contento con las dos son motos muy logicas enhorabuena por tus vídeos
Thanks Javi, i agree, from many points of view i consider the couple Trk+300 rally a great choice for enjoying most of the different pleasures of riding a bike without spending too much. Both togheter cost less then any Teneré, ktm690, Tuareg 660 etc.
If i wouldn't need to travel for months in very remote areas, i wouldn't even wait 1 minute to buy this bike
Ciao Federico, concordo con il tuo pensiero sulla cavalleria da utilizzare nei viaggi, soprattutto hai dimenticato che con motori di maggiore cubatura e cavalli occorre una manutenzione più esosa e più precisa in quanto più delicati.
Sai, su questo ci sono diverse scuole di pensiero. Secondo me più che discorsi generali su cubatura e potenze bisogna riferirsi ai singoli motori. L'indagine crf 300 e la Teneré hanno motori completamente diversi ma sono considerati entrambi super affidabili ad esempio

Buonasera Federico, per un attimo ho pensato fossi caduto con la motoretta in prestito, che è pure bellina, certo devi pensare al tuo peso e ai bagagli e sopratutto alle vibrazioni , per conto mio è meglio che ti guardi ancora attorno, magari un bicilindrico con qualche cavallino in più per quando non sei in off road, è davvero difficile buttare lì un'idea su quale moto prendere visto le strade che fai. io punterei su 2 cilindri poi però...... buona serara.
Ciao Savino, purtroppo la moto ideale per fare ciò che ho in mente non esiste. Perciò qualsiasi scelta si porterà dietro pro e contro. Non ultimo va considerato il prezzo, che per chi ha scelto questa vita è un parametro molto importante.
Vedremo. Intanto sono felice di aver potuto provare i due estremi, questa è l'Africa Twin, così ora ho più informazioni su cui basarmi per decidere.
Spero di riuscire a provare la ktm 690, così da avere un quadro ancora più preciso
Ciao Federico...hai mai preso in considerazione la Voge Valico 650 DSX? A fronte di un costo contenuto (magari trovandola usata con pochissimi chilometri) avresti una moto simile alla TRK, ma con qualche dotazione in più, maggior coppia, peso più basso e distribuzione dei pesi migliore.E costi di gestione contenuti, del tutto simili alla TRK

Ten en cuenta que con una moto 300 no tendrás consumo excesivo de los neumáticos, frenos, combustible y filtro de aire menos tragón de polvo. Compensa Muy bien en un largo viaje a velocidades de 90 / 120 kmph que la velocidad que uso con mayor frecuencia en tiradas largas de rutas asfálticas y destapadas como la ruta 40 en Argentina y sus míticos tramos conocidos como : Los 73 malditos ruta 40 al fin del mundo

Il problema è che sul libretto hanno indicato le misure in pollici anziché in centimetri, quindi se trovi un poliziotto pignolo passi i guai
Un vecchio Honda Transalp con pochi chilometri secondo me, potrebbe essere la scelta vincente per te per il prossimo viaggio... Lo sanno riparare anche in Siberia, lo si ripara con fascette e colla stick, olio non ne ha bisogno ed è un instancabile mulo senza tempo, intramontabile:) fra le varie versioni che c'erano prima propenderei per le più recenti, che oltre ad essere più affidabili delle vecchie (anni '90) sono più confortevoli. Pensaci!
Ho molte remore nel prendere in considerazione moto usate. Magari sbaglio a ragionare così ma preferisco rischiare un guasto non facilmente riparabile che 10 guasti facilmente riparabili. Perché se è vero che una moto vecchia è più facile da riparare è veto anche che meno gente mette le mani sulla tua moto e meno casini hai. Quasi tutti i meccanici che hanno toccato la mia moto hanno riparato 3 cose e danneggiate 2

I'm more for a somewhat heavier bike (aka 200Kg.) is for me more comfortable riding at long trips

How were the vibrations in the higher RPM? Was the cooling fan loud during the ride ? I heard these were main issues with Voge 300 models
Below 7000rpm vibrations are ok. Above they increase considerably, but I honestly don't understand the issue some people have with vibrations. I don't find them annoying at all, and you are not gonna ride for half an hour at 8/9000 rpm.
The same with the fan. The engine is much louder, how on earth someone can be concerned by a fan? 😁
@@ZeroHighWays i see it this way: if you needed to take faster road for more than 1 hour (e.g. 110km/h average) to reach destination, you will end up with numb hands. Regarding, the fan, folks like me are asking those questions to check the reliability of the bike. If the fan is loud and kicks in very often, even when not going slow in the terrain, it is likely to break sooner.
I know this seems like complaining, but this is a way to check if getting cheaper version of crf300 rally is worth it.
Anyway, you great review show, that it is very well made bike and it will tick all boxes for many people.

If the fan is reliable it's not an issue if it stays on often or for long time.
In Iran and pakistan with the trk and 47 degrees the fan was on 10h per day, even at 100kmh on a paved road

Probabilmente si, anche se dovrei vedere la rete assistenza in quei paesi. Cmq se è affidabile quanto la trk, ci vai ovunque anche con questa. Ed è anche abbastanza comoda

Da possessore di Voge 300 (ACX, non Rally) con praticamente lo stesso motore, credo che pensarci di farci un viaggio simile a quello da cui sei appena tornato sia forse più folle che non farlo col TRK. :)

Eh, 2 volte si è spenta di colpo. La prima stavo ripartendo e ho pensato fosse stata colpa mia che non avevo dato abbastanza gas, ma la seconda stavo scalando.
Il proprietario mi ha detto che capita anche a lui. So che a qualcuno capita anche con la Trk. Magari è un problema di carburazione, non saprei
Ciao io ho provato la valico ,per me una buona moto con rapporto qualità prezzo .se devi cambiare il trk potresti provarla e farci un pensiero.sembrabo di derivazione Honda come motore e telaio ,freni nissin pneus Pirelli e anche forcelle ed ammortizzatori sono di tutto rispetto .calca che io ho la transalp 700 e a provarla non mi sono trovato per niente male
Il fatto è che devo concentrare il poco budget a disposizione su una scelta a lungo termine, fortemente orientata al fuoristrada, e la valico sulla carta mi sembra una soluzione intermedia che poi, tra 1-2 anni, mi andrebbe nuovamente stretta.
