A Southern swamp does have a special ambience, with its smells, the heat, humidity, and plants. Haunting, sinister, but somehow romantic. Particularly at dawn and dusk.
The wetlands at our coastal wildlife refuge are pretty swampy, hostile terrain, but after nightfall, you hear all kinds of sounds and see those shy critters looking for food

I have never been in the Florida swamp, but in Louisiana, and MS'sippi swamp, it's creepy during high water, fog, when it is cold, and after dark. We had a houseboat in southern Ms'sippi, Pearl River swamp for many years. I could swear that during high water that I could see something just below the rippling water and hear the water whispering, early in the morning and right at dark. It seemed like it was whispering about or to me. It could have been just knowing how dangerous rivers and swamp are tho. I loved the river when I was young and unafraid, til I was about 45, but the older I got, I grew to dislike it

I really like the collage and how you timed the hypnotic water drop. So cool. 👍 ...excellent taste. 😍 ...oh, yeah I can't decide what my fav line is. There's so many good ones and the simplicity of how he tells the story is amazing. He stitches it together so effortlessly. I do remember as a kid particularly liking the part where he's describing the snakes. As a kid that was probably the part i enjoyed the most. At the age I was it was hard to understand the whole story.

Same here man. I grew up in the mountains of Northern California cabin. We had no electricity, just a generator. My dad would play this song and he would tell me she lived in the woods behind the house. I would stay up for hours terrified, and looking out the window. Good times lol

I wrecked it when me and 4 of my girl friends were all going up to the lake. We walked around the emergency room in our bathing suites. One time we all piled into that car and skipped school. The Principle was standing out in front the school and saw us drive by. We all ducked including me. Next day the Principle called me over and said "funny thing happened to me yesterday standing out in front of the school. I saw a little red Pinto rolling down the street and no one was driving it! Imagine that!" I lived in a small town. No one else had a little red Pinto but me. I could never get by with any thing. I graduated high school in 1975.

Well I love Florida the best. I lived there for one whole year. If I had my choice of living any where in the US it would be Florida. I lived in an apartment that had a screened in balcony that looked out over this pond that had ducks, cranes, turtles, fish and even an aligator in it. At night I would sit out there and listen to all the night creatures singing their songs. I absolutely LOVED it!

Great artwork to go with a memorable song from my childhood. As a tween, I would fall asleep at night listening to my clock radio, which didn't have a sleep function so it stayed on all night long. Once, I woke up from a nightmare very much inspired by this song that was playing at the time. To this day, it remains one of the creepiest experiences of my life!

Same here man. I grew up in the mountains of Northern California cabin. We had no electricity, just a generator. My dad would play this song and he would tell me she lived in the woods behind the house. I would stay up for hours terrified, and looking out the window. Good times lol

I never heard this song until summer 2019, when I was 50 years old, and now I can't stop listening to it.
My dad had it on a various artist 8 track tape when the tape broke did not here it for 30 years.
LOL! I remember the 8 track days. I was in high school and drove a little red Pinto that had an 8 track tape player in it!

I wrecked it when me and 4 of my girl friends were all going up to the lake. We walked around the emergency room in our bathing suites. One time we all piled into that car and skipped school. The Principle was standing out in front the school and saw us drive by. We all ducked including me. Next day the Principle called me over and said "funny thing happened to me yesterday standing out in front of the school. I saw a little red Pinto rolling down the street and no one was driving it! Imagine that!" I lived in a small town. No one else had a little red Pinto but me. I could never get by with any thing. I graduated high school in 1975.
My pinto was powder blue. Loved that car we went everywhere on $2 worth of gas.

Excellent video, BatLady! I'm 62 and used to play a lot of Jim's songs when I was a DJ back in the 70's and 80's. He was, still is, among the Best Ever! Let's bring the good if that era back.
I was also a DJ in those days, and we got lots of requests for Jim's songs, especially this one. And My Girl Bill.

Well I love Florida the best. I lived there for one whole year. If I had my choice of living any where in the US it would be Florida. I lived in an apartment that had a screened in balcony that looked out over this pond that had ducks, cranes, turtles, fish and even an aligator in it. At night I would sit out there and listen to all the night creatures singing their songs. I absolutely LOVED it!

Great artwork to go with a memorable song from my childhood. As a tween, I would fall asleep at night listening to my clock radio, which didn't have a sleep function so it stayed on all night long. Once, I woke up from a nightmare very much inspired by this song that was playing at the time. To this day, it remains one of the creepiest experiences of my life!
