I was only 12 yrs old and just thought it was a great song, I liked the music and thought the lyrics were very funny. Until today, I didn't know that Jim was a comedian. I thought he was a Country music star. Oh man he is hilarious first and then a musician. I am now a big fan of his comedy. I've checked out his many other You Tubes and the man is brilliant.

Jim Stafford is a monster talent. I saw him at the Aladdin in Las Vegas in the 70's. He makes light of his tremendous talent. He is funny and doesn't use foul language. He seems to be a decent fellow. I hope that he lives a long time.

Got a chance to see him at his theater in Branson, 1994 or there abouts. Best show there! Family focused,entertaining and he was so wonderful sitting on the side of the stage meeting anyone who wanted to see him. Don't know if he still plays there. Highly recommend!!!
My family and I saw him in about 1990 or so. It was not only a fantastic show but once he spotted my Dallas Fire Department (he's from Dallas) t-shirt, he hung around afterwards and we just talked for over an hour with another family from Dallas. It was a truly special night and he probably would've kept talking with us had my daughter not been asleep on her feet.

The first I saw Jim Stafford was watching a vid of him on the Smothers Bros., via here in youtube. But I had heard him on a radio show. The guy was then, and looking at this vid, still brilliantly funny. Sadly he still isn't known by a lot of people.

The first time I ever saw someone play with the left hand only it was Jim on The Smothers Brothers, which was one of my favorite shows at the time. People watching today, who didn't know what was going on politically at the time will miss some of the humor, but if you've never seen the show, it's worth a watch. Totally silly, hilarious, and showcased some excellent talents, like Jim, who later got his own show. Just a bit of history for those that didn't live through it or don't know, as I remember it. There is a gesture in Jim's performance which was something you really couldn't get away with on TV then too easily. The performance is very funny, as well as impressive, doesn't take too much showing off talent at that level to get your own show, apparently (it was also good, kind of folksy, as I remember). Glad to see he's still kickin' butt with that guitar. A guitar legend from the time. If you want to see another, check out Chet Atkin's on the Odd Couple show...another one I was very impressed by. Used to watch Hee Haw occasionally, mostly for the music, most of the rest was kinda goofy.
Jimmy lived right up the road from me in Winter Haven. Saw him in Publix one day and we talked guitars for about thirty minutes. Thatvwas years ago. Very nice man.

Glad to see he's still kickin' butt with that guitar. A guitar legend from the time. If you want to see another, check out Chet Atkin's on the Odd Couple show...another one I was very impressed by. Used to watch Hee Haw occasionally, mostly for the music, most of the rest was kinda goofy.

Jimmy lived right up the road from me in Winter Haven. Saw him in Publix one day and we talked guitars for about thirty minutes. Thatvwas years ago. Very nice man.

Do you have any idea how many times I saw Stafford in Branson? Lol. I'm talking about his notoriety. The point is is that YES Stafford IS underrated because very few people knew/know who he was and that is a shame because he was amazing. I grew up listening to Roy, Chet, Glen etc and very few people know them as well and that's a shame. Roy Clark was a master at anything with a string on it. Most people have never heard of Roy Clark, hence he would be UNDERRATED for the exact same reason.
