It's nice seeing a guitarist using an 8 string guitar creatively like this and not just chugging away at it like all of the modern metal bands seem to do these days.
Not every "modern metal" band chugs on the 8 string as I said in my comment, but I was just slightly exaggerating to prove the point that a lot of modern metal is just down-tuning and simple chuggalug. But hey it's a pointless conversation to have and I apologize for even starting it, let's just enjoy Little Tybee.
Sorry for the delay on the album guys. We are finishing up mixing as we speak. Expect a ton of videos coming down the pipeline at the beginning of the new year! -LT
I can't get enough of this song. This is exactly what I've been waiting to hear as a metal/death metal musician; unabashed talent, blended together just right, that still carries tremendous appeal to someone without a musical background through being just so tasteful. Artistic integrity is not only retained, but the passion to create it is brought forth in the mix and this video shows it. Just... wow.
This music makes me want to get in a shitty car and drive all over the country... fall in love... and fall asleep next to a bottle of wine in a place I've never been with a person I hardly know.. but strongly believe I'll want to...
Thanks Tosin for the shout out! and also all of your kind comments. Little Tybee is planning a US tour for March / April with a stop at SXSW. If you wish to stay up to date please send your email address to littletybee@gmail.com and we will let you know our happenings. Be on the lookout for our next album to be released March 2012! -LT
Just stumbled upon this looking for 8 string guitar videos - what a find! This is awesome. Love the chord change in the intro absolutely beautiful. Incredible playing all round and a fantastic song. Captivating and gorgeous.
I found Martin's glitch tapping technique pretty dull on the video showcasing him on Ibanez but hearing the same technique put in a 🎵 context here is damn impressive which goes normally quite the opposite way for 🎸 techniques..
So amazing. I can not stop listening to these guys. Keep an eye out for a new 8 string monster that I'm building him. Just about one of the proudest moments will be hearing this music on an instruments that I've built him. All the members of the band are really great people. SPREAD THE WORD about these guys!!!!!
Funny how everybody says that Tosin got you into this band via Facebook, I got into this band Via Twitter, YES, they started following me Yesterday and i had to check out their music How cool is That?? Little Tybee #FTW
We haven't changed the name and it has made the cut, but, alas, we've had some delays in getting our new record out. 'Hearing Blue' was originally on our first record 'Building A Bomb'. This version of 'Hearing Blue' will be on our new record 'For Distant Viewing' due out in July'ish. Also, just wanted to say that we appreciate you and everyone else who's eager for the next album. Your patience and fanship does not go unnoticed. :) -Pat/LT
Thanks for your question. So, to dispel some of the confusion about this particular song and the album it will be released on: 'Hearing Blue' was originally recorded on our independent release "Building A Bomb" back in 2009. This updated version will be on our new album "For Distant Viewing" which will be out early 2013. Production setbacks have delayed the release, but we promise the record will be done soon. We're planning a few US tours for 2013 as well. Thanks ya'll :)
looking forward to seeing you guys for the first time tomorrow. Came here to check you out although Roswell River Sounds generally have great picks but now im super excited!!!
this video is really cool, its nice to see how sound capture happens for once not just to hear it finished, though in your case of this its great to hear to, keep up the good work
I actually asked Josh this VERY question last night. He had no idea about no butterfly tapping! I personally think it may have something to do with the bassist moving his hands like a butterfly. Anyways, everyone, go see this band live! They are on tour and are the coolest people ever.
It seems like it's just just very fast and well timed muting. He taps the notes and then directly afterwards mutes it. It sounds different/unique because he can tap/mute so quickly it's fantastic. Could be wrong but I think that's correct.
Its actually quite a simple technique but difficult to execute...he basically plays a chord, and the space between the time he hammers on the chord, he taps at various points on the fret board to giving this fluttery kind of effect...its really awesome...a bit of experimenting and practice and you should definitely nail this :-)
i want to hear a josh martin solo project and i want it now!!! he is one of the most talented, unique guitarists i feel like it gets drowned out alot in this band.
Hipsters as Leaders
Animals as Hipsters
Putte Suprmodl hahahaha!!!!
This..... hahaha!
this song is better than anything AAL will ever do, but he has an 8 string so you have that part right.
Turdsplosion AAL to Little Tybee is like apples to oranges. Both are fantastic in their own right.
It's nice seeing a guitarist using an 8 string guitar creatively like this and not just chugging away at it like all of the modern metal bands seem to do these days.
Not defending crap metal, but can you list 5 bands that do just chug 8 strings of the top of your head?
Fear Factory if they are still around. That's one.

I like the chugging :*(

The sound balance is astonishing! Everything fits so perfectly together!
I can't get enough of this song. We love you.
Your group is full of retards, literally unlikeable. 9 likes on a JMartin vid lol, get fucked
Mugenloo and what have you been doing with your life?
Was that directed towards us? Mugenloo? Josh kicks ass. Either way, go find something better to do then talk shit on the internet.
The guy watching Josh play from 2:34 on is hilarious. Exactly how I feel whenever I listen to Josh too, buddy. Hahaha.
This music makes me want to get in a shitty car and drive all over the country... fall in love... and fall asleep next to a bottle of wine in a place I've never been with a person I hardly know.. but strongly believe I'll want to...
GuitarGear1 do it, nothing’s stopping you.
What a killer intro!!! OMF....

Mind-Blowing. Tosin posted this, and I immediately grabbed the album off iTunes. GREAT work guys! Hope to see it live someday!
This band grows on you. Josh Martin should do a solo side project though. I'd like that more.
So beautiful :') I remember watching the "History" video years ago and instantly falling in love. Love this new version as well.

I would love to hear an instrumental version!
So good guysss❤
I want to learn how to play this song on guitar sooo bad, so I just might have to take some of those lessons!
Why aren't you the biggest band in the world right now?!
What the hell is going on from 4:36 - 4:51? There are some seriously weird and wonderful guitar sounds in this song.
"Glitch tapping" is one of the techniques.
Butterfly tapping and glitch tapping I believe
I seriously LOVE the guitar work... How do you think of something like that? haha
Amazing!!!! Josh... You play that 8 string guitar like you have 15 fingers!!!!
Beautiful y-y
HOLY CRAP I LOVE THIS!!!
Its actually quite a simple technique but difficult to execute...he basically plays a chord, and the space between the time he hammers on the chord, he taps at various points on the fret board to giving this fluttery kind of effect...its really awesome...a bit of experimenting and practice and you should definitely nail this :-)
Could you guys still play "Palace of Versailles" from way back in the days of the Brock Scott Trio? I always liked that song.
Magic.
Peace*
i want to hear a josh martin solo project and i want it now!!! he is one of the most talented, unique guitarists i feel like it gets drowned out alot in this band.
Sounds fucking great.
Bonobo would sound exactly like this if they had Josh Martin
thumbs up!
