Spencer Colucy Prog rock! Not Genesis or Yes or anything like that. Rock that is still progressing, with a nod towards pared down jazz timbres and maybe a little 20th Century classical music for good measure.
grins n things my concern with this band is that the guitar player is like the frontman instead of the singer, and gets the central focus. There’s a time to chill out and let the other instruments shine. The band is great, not just the flashy guitar player.
@@dclarkmusic are you serious? There is about 6 to 7 instruments going on per song an you need a good ear to digest everything. This video is literally proof that the guitarist shares most of the melody with most of the other instruments with short lead breaks. Your comment is extremely uniformed musically if you think this band is only guitar driven lol.
frome time to time I come back here to remind myself that there's a ridiculously good band completly unknow to a fools planet. PLEASE keep going!!!! and come to Berlin for a concert!
I am here because I heard Josh Martin’s demo of the 🌈 Rainbow Machine I just bought, and I am So glad I finally found you! New favorite band!!! 😳😃😊👂🏾✋🏾 🎵🎶🎵 👼
This song has a beautiful lush mix going on... the keys and the bass might be a little difficult to pick out at times, but it really gives the song an atmosphere. I love it.
This is now one of my favorite pieces of music... Wow. Somehow, there are so many layers and weaving melodies, but each person is still playing for the song- Beautifully balanced, thank you for sharing.
I absolutely despise modern music (I adore classic rock and 80's pop and almost anything before the mid 90's), but this is actually really, really good. I'm going to get this album. Excellent job.
I met these dudes at a Radiohead concert in Atlanta. We were waiting in line to go in and I started talking to them. Alls I remember is the dude wearing the Australian outback looking hat haha. I think he’s behind the glass in the beginning. He actually directed me to their music. Really glad he did!!
It's not a xylophone, it's a vibraphone. When the bar is raised the notes are muted by a felt bar that runs across the whole instrument and when it's lowered the notes sustain for quite a long time.
You can buy their music on their bandcamp page. This song is going to be released with their new album coming out this year. Until then, I'd look at their other albums.
Hello, could anyone help me with the lyrics ? I cant really understand everything as im not a native speaker nor am i that advanced. Anyways its a great piece of music! Would be nice to know what the lyrics are about. Thanks :)
Every prog artist I listen to sounds similar but yet plays so differently, it's as if all of them "made" a new technique like Polyphia's writing practices, AAL's use of thumping outside of classical and a lot of other artist's use of similar techniques but playing with said techniques differently
with all these guitar players with their extended ranges and usual-bass-playing techniques(double-thumping, slapping) delving into the bass players audio-range I'm starting to want to hear bass players strung upwards of their original/regular eadg/beadg/beadgc. I know Evan Brewer has a couple songs tuned adgcf but he's the only one I've found. So next strings I'm buying are gunna be adgc, or even dgcf just to mess with the people I jamm with, although we already play in alternate tunings(I like to stay between c-standard and a-standard) Here's hoping I find a new realm in my bass-playing higher up!
The problem is if you and the guitar are both playing upper range then no one is covering the lower ranges. If you get a 6 string you can have a higher range while still being able to go back to the lower if needed.
Leotheleprachaun Zander is a beast. I feel you on the fingers thing, I sometimes wish I had much longer fingers. Having double jointed fingers would help too.
Hah, bassists have been delving even deeper into the lower registers from what I've seen. (When I advance my bass playing some more I want to eventually get a 5 or 6 string. Still far off yet but a man can dream)
This band is amazing and I wish I had only found them earlier. I'm also a little confused as to what genre to consider this? I hate to just lump it in as "fusion"
Can you elaborate why you'd label it as progressive? I hear pretty standard chord progressions and time signatures/rhythms and the songs don't change drastically over time or are that long. The instrumentation is also quite traditional. Of course there is a lot of technical skill required to play certain parts but the same thing is true for some bands in the Pop/Rock/Folk/Country Genre. And they aren't labeled as progressive.
Never actually noticed until today that the chorus at 1:43 was a semitone higher than the second one at 3:19. Beautifully composed, hats off..
Nice catch
le boss
These hipsters are pretty awesome.
I find it virtually impossible to put a genre on this. Amazing. Yeah that's the genre.. It's amazing!
folk-pop djent-crossover
Progressive classical? hahah who knows? But i love it
Andrew Suzuki Jazz?

Finally some crazy awesome somber math rock... With a vocalist! The guitarists "Glitch Tapping" Video brought me here. Glad I followed through :D!
My thought exactly :D
This ain`t math rock. Do you have ears attached to your head?
Yeah math rock is a little broad for this. What would you call it?
haha same here. that guy is fucking awesome,,, and so is this band.... amazing!!
Spencer Colucy
Prog rock! Not Genesis or Yes or anything like that. Rock that is still progressing, with a nod towards pared down jazz timbres and maybe a little 20th Century classical music for good measure.
it's so effortlessly and simultaneously melodic and complex. really fantastic
Man you can barely hear the keys in most of their songs, but the guy's got some really tasty chords going on here.
grins n things my concern with this band is that the guitar player is like the frontman instead of the singer, and gets the central focus. There’s a time to chill out and let the other instruments shine. The band is great, not just the flashy guitar player.

That technique at 1:55 is some god tier shit. Josh is always some crazy techniques to get that different sound.
Not my style of music, but some crazy good talent. And it's very nice to see someone actually utilizing all 8 string on an 8-string lol
That bassist's playing is so satisfying to watch and listen to
This is brilliant. Poppy jazz-inflected math rock. I love it.
frome time to time I come back here to remind myself that there's a ridiculously good band completly unknow to a fools planet. PLEASE keep going!!!! and come to Berlin for a concert!

If little Tybee added a couple horns my life would be perfect.
They do that on a few of their songs.
Kevin Ellis Snarky Puppy? Get you some more jazz fusion.

How come this track's not on Spotify? One of your best :D
Could someone explain the purpose behind the xylophones raising and lowering? But really a distinct sound, enjoyed it!
It's not a xylophone, it's a vibraphone. When the bar is raised the notes are muted by a felt bar that runs across the whole instrument and when it's lowered the notes sustain for quite a long time.
Where can I buy this song? Little Tybee I didn't see it on iTunes.
You can buy their music on their bandcamp page. This song is going to be released with their new album coming out this year. Until then, I'd look at their other albums.
Psst...you can quit your day job. :)
Hello, could anyone help me with the lyrics ? I cant really understand everything as im not a native speaker nor am i that advanced. Anyways its a great piece of music! Would be nice to know what the lyrics are about. Thanks :)

cool,

i've got me little irish fingers and can't play a 6 string. right now i'm listening to some Zander Zon and i can digg me some piccolo strings
Leotheleprachaun
Zander is a beast. I feel you on the fingers thing, I sometimes wish I had much longer fingers. Having double jointed fingers would help too.
Give the guitarist a bass.. give the bassist a guitar.. Problem solved ;)
Hah, bassists have been delving even deeper into the lower registers from what I've seen.
(When I advance my bass playing some more I want to eventually get a 5 or 6 string. Still far off yet but a man can dream)
1:14 good reflective shot! (whether it's composited or not.)
This band is amazing and I wish I had only found them earlier. I'm also a little confused as to what genre to consider this? I hate to just lump it in as "fusion"
Folk Prog
little tybee
Prog-folk :)

yes, they are labelled as progressive folk rock, as well as many other things
look at tracks like left-right, much more progressive than this one
