My neighbor upstairs makes consistent noises that seem to be inconsiderate of me as i am the tenant below. Before i would get irate and very agitated. But now I've learned to remain calm and not let it get the best of me emotionally. It has helped me navigate the situation without losing my mind, lol..a small example, but i think it was a test of calmness as well for me. Stay calm, my people!🙌🏾

I used to believe that these statements were just lovely but unproven theories. Then decided to implement a few as an life experiment to see if there was any truth behind them. Each time that I deeply embraced one of these ideas so deeply that it became embodied within me, my life expanded and improved exponentially. I was shocked. People in every one of my relationships were impacted as well. Some fell away on their own and the rest of them began to grow and strengthen themselves along side me.

I'm 66 and have come to understand I've been a stoic all my life. Not understanding that I AM a 'stoic', now in retirement I have a life of peace and tranquility. Still married to the same precious woman for 48 years now. We had three children, losing our son to cancer at 32. We have 7 grandchildren and so far two great grandchildren. We are a family. Our children and grandchildren still speak with us daily, asking advice and sharing their daily lives. We have earned and achieved the respect from our progeny that all parents pray for by giving it to them and teaching them critical thinking skills. We are not financially 'rich', but we get by. We are, however, wealthier than anyone else I know. It is a genuine joy to be happy and blessed at this time in my life. And I sincerely believe it is due to my life as a stoic.

When I'm searching for a parking spot and someone has taken two spots, I don't get mad because I know if he hadn't, that spot would have been taken anyway. When someone has left a shopping cart in a parking spot, it's like it was saved for me 😊 and I get out and move it and pull in. If it hadn't been there, the spot would have probably been taken by someone else. When on the freeway, I know it's unreasonable to expect everyone to drive politely, so I drive prepared for the ones that will drive erratically. These things have helped me stay calm in my car.

It’s not “clutching “ to the past, but understanding it. In childhood we shape our subconscious beliefs (perception of Self and our reality; in adulthood our human responsibility is to conquer them by recognizing them, understanding the past and finding new way of thinking- therefore not repeating patterns of behaviours and automatic reactions.

I wish i know this video early. The document discusses the principles of stoicism, an ancient philosophy that helps individuals achieve inner peace and mastery over their emotions. It emphasizes the importance of focusing on what we can control, such as our thoughts, actions, and intentions, while acknowledging that external factors are beyond our control. The document also highlights the lessons of acceptance, resilience, and choice in stoicism, emphasizing the importance of embracing life's unpredictability and the power of choice in our responses. These principles are applied to modern life, helping individuals to maintain a calm and composed demeanor in the face of challenges.

This is true and helpful but I think we shouldn't forget to learn to express our disappointment or disapproval of something without being emotionally lead. As a man sometimes you have to be disagreeable or be assertive but expressing your desires with control and calmness can help you to get people to listen to you and take you seriously. Stand on what you believe in without being hysterical.

00:13 🔑 Embrace what you control: Stoicism focuses on what's within our power-our thoughts, actions, and intentions-freeing us from anxiety over things beyond our control.
03:53 🧘‍♂ Power of Acceptance: Stoicism teaches acceptance of life's ups and downs, letting go of attachment to specific outcomes, fostering inner serenity amidst unpredictability.
06:07 🧠 Practice Mindfulness: Seneca highlights mindfulness, urging immersion in the present moment to combat rumination, finding solace in the simplicity of now.
08:08 💪 Cultivate Resilience: Stoicism reframes adversity as an opportunity for character refinement, encouraging a steadfast approach in facing life's challenges.
10:22 🤔 Choose Your Response: Epictetus emphasizes the power of choice in our responses, asserting control over our reactions despite external events.
12:49 🌊 Limit Excessive Desires: Seneca advises moderation, cautioning against excessive desires that disrupt inner calm, advocating for a life guided by virtue.
15:06 ⚖ Be Virtuous: Stoicism places virtue at its core-wisdom, courage, justice, and temperance-serving as guiding stars for composure and ethical living.
18:37 🔄 Transitory Nature of Life: Marcus Aurelius emphasizes embracing life's transience, letting go of attachments, and finding strength in accepting the impermanence of all things.
21:34 🙏 Value of Gratitude: Seneca champions gratitude as a pathway to inner peace, urging appreciation for life's blessings, fostering contentment amidst challenges.
24:37 🌟 Cherish the Present: Seneca's wisdom encourages embracing life's beauty, finding gratitude even in challenging moments, unveiling tranquility amidst life's trials.
24:52 🌱 Keep Learning: Stoicism emphasizes lifelong self-improvement, viewing life as a continual journey of growth and wisdom, guiding us to embrace challenges for personal development.
25:47 🚀 Dynamic Growth: Stoicism advocates for continual growth, not perfection, recognizing life as an ongoing process of becoming better, resilient, and wiser through experiences and challenges.
27:11 🌊 Embrace Challenges: Stoicism sees setbacks as opportunities for growth, fostering resilience and fortitude, teaching that adversity is a catalyst for improvement rather than an impediment.
28:06 🎯 Celebrate Self-Improvement: The stoic path celebrates the journey of self-improvement, honoring the process of learning and growth as fundamental to achieving inner calm, composure, and wisdom.

The idea that we can find peace by embracing life's unpredictability rather than fighting it really made me rethink how I handle setbacks. This is fantastic information! Acceptance is real, and we should believe in it. However, most people don't believe it since they sometimes don't listen.

Mindfulness is indeed a quality key mentally. To study that can unlock alot of wisdom. And yeah just staying calm through the storm. There's alot of demons out there.i remember reading a book one time the power of mindfulness I believe it was called. Very simple short book but it explains why you should be mindful. And also meditation shouldn't be neglected. In whatever form you choose to do it. Love yourself and drink water. And as much as you love yourself love others the same way.

Excellent video. I have time and make time to listen to the 10 principles and wisdom. ALL excellent wise thoughts to make us better persons.
Making the video somewhat shorter, to give out those 10 wise thoughts and advice will likely attract more of the younger generation, who doesn’t seem to have time for anything. 🤙

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.”
Lesson #11: Without love, all of the other virtues mean nothing.

In all things give thanks...and will there be peace.. happiness every where you are...cos you are parts of universe. So as part of the universe we can't control instead do find happiness if be mindful and awareness on the present moment as you practice along . The outcome you get is less..less problem...gain more peace in return.
