      You can also change the speech regions for the different Spanish like you was saying different words in Spanish or Latin America have different means so go into the settings and scroll down and select speech and and click on Spanish see all the different countries for different Spanish language

    We are planning to go to India for our 7th trip, shortly. On seeing a tiger which I record on You Tube, I expressed my frustration of not knowing what was being said between the wildlife park guides, as we never understood what what being said. Some of the You Tube commentators said we should learn Hindi, not that practical when on a three week trip. So this trip I plan to use all you have provided us with here. Absolutely top quality video, so so useful. When I got to a level I thought you have given me all I needed to know, you went and provided more information that you only gain with experience. BRILIANT, superb, your parents trained you well!!

    Just watched the video (again!) after returning from a couple weeks in France, where I had forgotten the feature that lets you point your phone at a sign or menu to get a translation. Thanks for the reminder on that, as well as the save feature.
    As for the use of the handwriting feature, I found that, in French as in some other languages, I'm sure, the accent makes all the difference, yet is difficult to type. With a handwritten word or phrase, i can easily add accents to ensure a better translation.
    Finally, I think you meant the verb "err" rather than "air" in your topic title late in the video.
    Thanks again, Ernest, for a great and very practical video. Despite being pretty conversant in French myself, I found myself using the app multiple times a day.

    Used app during a recent trip to Japan. I was blown away with its ability to read signs and other written text. I enjoyed the conversation feature since english is rarely spoken in Japan. I recommend it to anyone who wants to communicate with locals.

    I've switched from using Google Translate because it often gives direct answers that aren't very accurate. Instead, I've started using Immersive Translate, which conveniently displays both the target language and the translation outcomes on the same page. This way, I can better understand the context and nuances of the language.

    I use it extensively while traveling.
    GT thinks it knows what you want to say and then provides translation. in summary, it translates your text to its understanding and then translates that into your target language. It's accurate as long as it understands what you're saying, and this is more than sufficient for traveling. It will get you by with some errors, but it will get you by.
    But my main usage of GT is where it falls short.
    I am learning another language. So, I form sentences in my head then feed them to GT. I want a literal translation. Doing this, I can correct my mistakes and learn from my errors. I want to know exactly what I've said, and not what GT thinks I want to say.
    For a language learner, GT falls short. IMO

    • @TripAstute
      @TripAstute  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you. It's definitely has it's limitations, especially for those that are learning the language.

    It is true that I do not travel, but I use this Google Translator in conversation on WhatsApp . However, when I want to translate an inscription with a camera in a newspaper or other magazine, translated subtitles merge with other letters or are translated inaccurately. I have a second translation application and better translates word text or from the picture . This translator is called Camera Translator .

    As you point out in your video, Latin American Spanish is somewhat different.
    If going to Santiago Chile as we will eventually be doing, do you have any suggestions for Chilean Spanish? Will the Google translate Spanish be good enough?

    • @TripAstute
      @TripAstute  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The Chilean Spanish is known to be extremely difficult. I have a feeling that you'll likely be able to communicate out using the app (i.e., English to Spanish translation), but incoming translations might be a struggle due to the dialect.

The bonus to you is that if they allow you to upgrade, you can keep your old tradeline alive.
