Jobs that size rarely go 100% to plan all the time, long as there no loose bolts when it leaves the garage/factory you have done well that's what I say 👍
@@johncoldwell340 Heck even smaller jobs can be overlooked. I forgot to check my exhaust manifold bolts after i offered it up (turbo attached, wasn't light, minimal space) as i was exhausted (ha...) And then completely forgot to do it before building everything else back up as i had slept since. Its so easily done
Look forward to you taking the skid factory to another place Woody and thanks to Al for his contribution in the past…thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment you two have produced…but I can feel Als patience for mucking around with cars on video is almost up…carry on Woody, chill time Al!
I get it. Was going to do a my own channel of me doing work I used to do. The first day when I realized the job itself was going to take twice as long due to having to move lights, cameras etc, not even counting the editing, I was like yea, naa. It would've hurt my wallet, and killed my flow. Plan on doing a doco, can take my time with that, but props to these guys, and people like MCM to be constantly putting out content. That's a lot of work, and dedication.
Silver lining; whenever Al appears for a guest spot or just to hang around in the background of a video, his dry humour and wisdom will be that much sweeter. 👌🏻
Great work guys. I rebuilt an old chevy 350 years ago and worked on it in the evenings after work .... forgot to torque the cam-gear bolts, in that motor the cam gear holds the cam forwards in the engine - so after running for about 20min doing the run-in procedure for the cam the engine stops.. The cam moved back in the engine and the lobe caught the lifter next to it and the cam snapped into 3 pieces. That's why marking the bolts you've torques/tightened is a useful thing especially if you working intermittently.
Watched the whole series yet it still threw me for a loop looking at the rear end of a Z32 and hearing silky RB sounds when Al revs it for the first time.. I'll stick to my VG, but can't fault this build for anything, really nicely put together Z!
Rob Schneider was his name. I have never been able to confirm this but a Rob Schneider owns a great Buick GNX . It put out big power and i believe the guy bought it before the prices went mental. If it’s Deuce Bigalow himself then that is legendary.
I purchased a cabinet business from a guy who was a perfectionist. He got to the point where he could no longer make it out of the office to work on projects since he knew they would never meet his expectations. I was relatively new and did not see the mistakes which were driving him crazy. After five years or so I started to feel the same anxiety and saw EVERY flaw. Not saying this is what is happening to Al but for me I had to step away from the day-to-day and let my guys deal with production. I came around but being a perfectionist sucks.
Hats off to the effort gone into this beautiful build. Lots if thinking outside the box to get it together. Got a soft spot for Z32, very under rated, enjoy.
Have a good break Al and remember the enjoyment of the work, turning spanners with your mate and seeing things come to fruition. Life is too short to be under the pump all of the time. Good luck Woody with the new venture enjoy 👌
What a lovely build-can’t wait to see it on the dyno! Here’s hoping that Al gets some rest n relaxation after all this frantic video production and car building. Either endeavor is taxing by itself; put the two together and it’s a recipe for madness.
Love this build but again all the build come out the skids are sick but the exites for the z32 are over the top cant wait to see it in action Al is 100% a legend great stuff guys
Yeah yeah, the bane of every car build: lose bolts, unplugged oil lines, THAT ticking noise and for good measure some metal screeching... 🤪 And we'll surely gonna miss this unique mixture of old grumpy mechanic wisdom and young tech-savy hotshot. Al's stoic one-liners are always just so damn entertaining... 😁
Sorry, but I can see the tension that is there from a young calf, razzing the bull and it's coming through the vids. You guys are both gr8, one needs a quick chill & the other needs an ego check. Fingers crossed 🤞 for some future collabs with you two 😉

Al if you read this, just try to enjoy this last project for the Skid Factory, nothing worse than living with regret and ending on a low note. You have been an inspiration to more people than you could ever imagine. Hang in there brother 👌

Nahhh...I can see why that might be a perception, but these two are like brothers, go watch early episodes before the selective editing and production values went up, they are often bickering, arguing over who's turn it is to buy lunch and 'Lemon Squash' and winding each other up. I reckon Al just wants to put his feet up and enjoy doing projects at his own pace Vs a grinding production schedule for Skid Factory. Good on ya lad.
thank god that noise was only the tension bolts on adjustable cam gear. sheesh. thank the heavens! nice find! youll get that sorta thing on these big custom jobs

I had no idea what SAE stood for LOL.. learn something new every day. Also didnt know about the LED resistors, when I had the R5 and IC7 installed on the Soarer, they put an alternator light next to the keypad where the head unit used to be. It does look kind of "racecar" to have a warning light there, that area could be better used for a rotary switch or something though.
@theskidfactory hey, I tried looking for the 1uz intake plenum adapter plate you guys made but can't find them online. They going to be available again?
I recall starting my shovel up after having it out & pulled the top end apart to find out why the valve train had made some noise (oil got too hot & thin & hydraulic lifters stopped working right for a bit no harm) . . did't notice the throttle cable was't seated properly at the grip & was hung up & it started up at full revs although had given it some turns to get some oil up . . probably took some years off of its life
Unequal length downpipes for the twins is probably why it sounds more like a typical v6. Equal length produces a smoother and higher pitch tone. Turbo manifold will have an effect as well, but all the runners looked close to equal length.
I mostly agree with you, but I think Al was a bit tense about something being not right etc. Totally normal human stuff, particularly with a first start of his own car. People just want to make out like it's something more than that.
