- Christoffer and I do a FULL day of errands in Longyearbyen, and I show you guys what a regular 1000 USD/month apartment looks like on Svalbard! Since we don't have any running water at home we head to our friends house to shower and put on a washer and also go to the supermarket, post office, dry cleaners and more. A busy day to say the least!

About Cecilia:
Cecilia Blomdahl is originally from Sweden and moved to Svalbard 5.5 years ago. She works as a photographer and videographer in Longyearbyen, and with her social media channels, check her out on tiktok and instagram. This channel popped up about a year ago for me. I was watching cold places on youtube. Like Siberia, Yakutst Russia in January. Winter storm in the Rocky mountains. Snow storm in Minnesota. I love this channel. Cecilia is great; a hardworking woman. I love Grimm !

@@kathyrogister7624 there are still some places that have the honor system. Just left a deli where the grubhub orders are there on a shelf and in the summer some farms have produce stands unattended.

I feel like, Svalbard is the place you'd move to, if you're not just a nature lover, but also sick of society/all the hassle that comes with it and/or are simply an introvert... but then once living there you're sort of forced to be social to "survive" daily life.

The middle of July in the rest of the Northern Hemisphere is the height of summer with high temperatures and humidity. Here we have Cecilia surprised by 12C in Svalbard. LOL

Honestly 12C is too much for Svalbard, even in summer. This is climate change in action.
As a Filipino 12c still cold.. because her in Philippines normal temperature is 32c and the humidity is 36-41c ahahahahah

Note: Norway is an Expensive country to live in. Salaries however are usually higher than in other countries and this includes practically free health care and other social benefits
I think (?) they have lower taxes in Svalbard so that helps even more… And when it comes to healthcare I’m pretty sure in Svalbard you’re only covered by the Norwegian healthcare system if your employer is a Norwegian company or you have a Nordic council passport… but I’ve also heard private insurance is not as unreasonably expensive as in the US

I’ve been watching your shows for about 8 months now. It’s actually on the TV right now lol I’ve seen this episode few times. It’s when you and Christopher go to the grocery, laundry and eat shrimp for dinner lol it’s fascinating to me to see how you live in the Artic. I’m from Kentucky btw. It’s been 90 degrees lately

Amazingly, a Walrus has been hanging about the the coast of the South-west of England. He's been nicknamed Wally. He's currently in the Isles oF Scilly off Cornwall. They've built a pontoon for him bacause he was damaging boats. They are hoping to tow him out to sea to encourage him to return tho the Arctic. I was always enjoy your vlogs. Your cabin is looking great.
I live in Cornwall and keep hoping he might swim past on the way back north.
Wally is now near me in Cork, Ireland. Haven't seen him in person but have seen plenty photos and he also likes damaging boats around here!
I understand I’m seeing this a year later however I still would like to comment on the apartment. I live in the Twin Cities Minnesota USA. Your friend’s apartment would be considered an incredible value here. Even with it being old-school. The size, the condition and having a washer as well would be a treasure to find here for that price. A beautiful view would be icing on the cake.

OMGoodness, when I saw the prices of blueberries and peaches. It made me sad. We own a blueberry farm and we also have peach, apple and pear trees. The early peaches are ready and so aren't the early blueberry. I wish I could send some to you.

That is very expensive. I live in Galway Ireland. We rent a house with 4 bedrooms two bathrooms lounge through lounge/dinner/kitchen utility room and toilet for €550 per month. Love your videos. Regards Maggie
