the thing i always liked about the megalodon on this show is how it isn't trying to smash it's way into the cage or destroy the boat
Yea and i shows realistic behaviour than those in the movies where that big otodus shark comes in and smashes ships while here it shows that the Meg is curious

I ve remembered watching that while I was child. Nigel Marvel is a great actor. Prehistoric Park was fun too. I found again this OST recently and oddly, I can't spend a day without listenning this track, I swear. This is so hypnotizing, it takes you in the guts. Amazing. The Megalodon is (without any doute) the scariest shit that seas had never seen. The Great White is enought frightenning like that. So imagine it but bigger four times ! It's Jaws but IRL. Just incredible.
Why the BBC hasn't revisited the immersive CGI/real environment arena to produce an up-to-date prehistory show for 15 years is completely beyond me. What extraordinary programming this series was.

This and the Cymbospondylus track absolutely slap.
Indeed, they made an all time gem with all this, maybe the lack of ideas that could justify another program like this is the reason why we do not see more of it.

Honestly, the Late Miocene with both Meg and Livy (plus a bunch of other predators that were themselves about as formidable as large mosasaurs or pliosaurs) should have taken the #1 spot.

You know I have to say. I know Chased by Sea Monsters came out after Walking with Beasts, but I do wish they had introduced Megalodon into the WWB series. I know WWB is about prehistoric mammals, and Megalodon isn't a mammal, I know that too. But I thought it was kind of odd how they when from the Oligocene 25 MYA and then pretty much skipped 20+ million years into the Pliocene. Make no mistake, I love Walking with Beasts. I think it's a great documentary series made by BBC. But I sometimes wish they introduced Megalodon into that series.
Exactly my thoughts, I get they wanted to depict the evolution of whales, but instead of making the Basilosaurus episode (which is my favourite of all WWB) I would I went with an episode depicting the transition to filter feeding, and inevitably showcasing the wanted Otodontid as they where very much present during this transition.
I am sitting at the beach right now and listening to this. This is such a vibe. I‘m gonna go snorkling now. Hopefully no megalodon will get me

The build up of this track! We have arrived Jaws-level horror music (well, that makes sense). And similar to Time Of The Titans, here the payoff of the build up works incredibly great and is itself an even bigger build up to an even bigger payoff. How many layers could one possibly add to a music piece? This is amazing.

This is the best theme out of the whole Walking with series because it builds up the suspense and has the right theme for the biggest carnivorous fish that ever lived which the Meg got wrong
This theme feels like stress incarnate, and I adore it for that.

You are not wrong. Bartlett really took notes from John Williams to express the instinctive terror that lies under the sea.
Said this before on my previous account before it got deleted, and I'll say it again:
This is, and always will be, the one true Megalodon theme to me.

That’s the thing, In chased by sea monsters they present animals as animals and not movie monsters like the Meg which was just a mini Godzilla that was fully aquatic.
I love how this track is sort of an extended version of the credits theme

@@battlechampion47 Yeah, but what about the deadliest sea of all time theme? That was terrifying, and the mosasaurs were actually a threat unlike the megalodon, who was just kinda curious.

They really put everything they had into this one piece, making it sound as foreboding and terrifying as possible, the deep and calm notes of the strings up until you hear the windchimes and that flute kicks in, and the drums start up, It's when you see the fin of the mega for the first time and it's so foreboding.. and then it's calm again till she actually shows up.. and Everything kicks in all at once, drums, Strings and the winds.. The flute is used perfectly to enhance that sence of danger.. The extra trumpet sting at 1:50 is just absolutely wonderful and it gives me the shivers every time.. and then you get to the actual like, main part of the song and its just note after note of this horrifying theme that wouldn't be out of place in a modern day shark documentary.. Its absolutely amazing and then the woodwinds coming in at 2:43 make it even better and the Violin and everything else brining the song to its climax before it gives way to this dark and almost melancholy finish, With a bell tolling in the background with the woodwinds, finishing it off with one final bell toll..

I normally don't comment on a lot of videos, but I feel like I should say something.
I really want to thank you for working on these and uploading them! I've been wanting to listen to the soundtrack of Sea Monsters and Chased by Dinosaurs so badly yet I couldn't even find them anywhere on TH-cam for a LONG time. Even as a child watching those shows, I always loved the music.

when i first saw the megalodon (yes this was my first time seeing this prehistoric giant) i was like "how can that thing sustain itself if its that massive?!"
Suprisingly enough, this is one of the best depictions of O. megalodon ever, slow and curious but demonstrating how brutal an animal of this size could really do to a prey as big as a whale.
Simple. It eats whales!

I’ve been listening to this one and the ost’s for all the other walking with dinosaurs shows and I definitely agree that it would fit really well with an rpg

This theme is ferocious, awe-inspiring, unique and has so much suspense. A fitting theme for Megalodon.
I love Walking With Sea Monsters much more than Jaws and Jurassic Park.

The suspense of this track is so insane. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it, similar to when "Death Of The Postosuchus" or "Spirits Of The Ice Forest" comes on in Walking With Dinosaurs.
I'm so thrilled to have found this! This theme slaps the hardest out of any WW tune I've heard. When I heard it in Sea Monsters I got shivers all over my body.
Ah takes me back...god I loved this show, and the Megalodon with this theme was 💯💯💯
The closest thing the walking with series ever had to boss music. And I love it!
Thank you for releasing all these wonderful soundtracks, the Walking With Series is my childhood…when I first saw those shows 14 years ago I thought all those cgi creatures were real, and the Chased By and Sea Monsters specials made be believe Nigel Marven was a real time-traveling zoologist…who came face-to-face with all sorts of monstrous creatures…

This is surely the one everyone was waiting for. And to finally get to hear in all its glory
"Look at that thing! It can't be anything else but an adult Megalodon! It's more like a sail than a fin, and what we've got to do now is get the cage into the water!
*crew members lower the cage and the bait into the water while Nigel suits up and dives into the cage with the shark camera*
"You can see... the blood and the fish oil leaking out of the chum bag. I need to be really prepared for this with the camera. We mainly get one chance at it. Who knows how long the Megalodon's gonna hang around?
"This is scary. I'm scared.
"Look! It's going straight for the cage!
*Megalodon swims towards the cage*
"Oh... my word.
*Nigel gets a good look at the shark's huge teeth, each the size of a hand, as he is stricken with fear while the crew raises the chum bag out of the shark's way and then drops it when it's far away*
"NOTHING prepares you for this!
"I thought of just shooting to the surface and getting out of this cage. But I gotta pull myself together...
*Megalodon swims past the cage*
"First of all, I am really, really scared of this.
*Megalodon lunges out of the water, much to the shock of the crew, while Nigel sees the shark coming back towards him*
"It looks like he's taking the pass now where he's gonna be really close! And let's see whether I can get the shark cam on! **thrusts forward with the shark cam but misses** Agh! Missed that time!
*the shark bumps against the cage*
"Woah! I've got to get the camera onto the fin!
*the crew raises the chum bag out of the water again while Nigel tries to get the cam onto the shark's back*
**thrusts forward with the shark cam** "RAGH! **thrusts again** ROGH! Argh!
"Agh, this is hopeless; this is harder than I thought! The fin is just too high!
"And he's coming straight at the cage!
*Megalodon bites the cage, to no avail as it swims away while Nigel returns to the surface*
"I can't attach the camera from the cage, so I'm gonna try from this platform. The chum ball, don't put it over the side. Keep an eye on the shark; see if you can get it in a line along here, please. And I'll be ready."
*Megalodon lunges out of the water and seemingly devours Nigel*
Podrán decir que la serie de "Caminando con..." tiene muchos errores científicos, que muchos de los modelos son obsoletos y que exageren con el tamaño de las criaturas, pero no me jodan solo con esta maravilla de soundtrack es el maldito mejor documental sobre la vida prehistórica que se haya hecho jamás, y lo será por siempre.

In all fairness, a lot of the info was probably accurate for the time. Palaeontology involves a lot of guesswork.

The build up is fantastic here. And the awesome reveal of the megalodon was chilling
It’s interesting how Bartlett built upon the Jaws theme. He’s essentially arranged a remix, building upon that basic two-note melody, making it far more grand and imposing. In a way, it matches the sheer scale and terror of O. megalodon
I did not notice that usage of the jaws theme, thanks for pointing it out!
Btw, you did a masterfull work with the DOOM soundtrack. Glad to see another slayer over here!
The best part of this soundtrack is that it sounds like the end tune that plays at the end of the episodes.
The build up for the megalodon is almost like the documentary is telling us this is the end Nigel. Which is the cliffhanger of this episode.
The megalodon is given such weight and respect.
That's because the final soundtracks of each episode are an altered version of the meg theme. Additionally it's the longest of all themes in the entire documentary
I will always associate the megalodon with this theme, we need a 2024 remake of this show, it would be amazing

Perfectly suits the Megalodon, which is my second favorite animal ever with the Mosasaurs being the first!
