This entire game's soundtrack is gorgeous, but this and Cold Blood are easily my favorites. This feels like the theme of the Army Ants, the brass and drums are steady and consistent like a marching song, and they feel so militaristic, which fits so perfectly with the game's atmosphere of treating these ants like rival empires in the human mold. But then you drive your column of Leafcutters into their flanks after spending an hour driving off their secondary forces and securing your supply lines, and suddenly that militarism is on your side - you steal their theme out from under them, and crush them to it. Their horde breaks on the rock of your forces. It's foreboding when you first watch the marching column of Army Ants to the swelling instrumentation, and it feels amazing to turn it back against them
For some reason, I always saw the instruments as representing each colony. The Strings and woodwinds for the Leafcutters, and the militaristic snare drums and brass representing the Army Ants.
To be entirely honest, I don’t know how they managed to perfect capture the absolute chaos of being a leaf cutter ant colony struggling for its life, but nonetheless they did a great job
this ost soundtrack shows how much dedication leafcutters and most ants have done to kill insects, build their army, gather food and water and the most important of all, protecting the queen, number 1 favourite soundtrack right here
Mostly because if you have ants far away from the huge whip spider it will attack only those ants ant leave your Frontline untouched because it has a blind spot,while the large and small dont.
I love how they genuinely made the army ants scary cuz the ability lets them overwhelm your leafcutters in fucking seconds I absolutely hated it on the lab challange mission lol. That frontline clash was a nightmare
It feels weird that no one has commented how the trumpet sounds exactly like the one in awakening wood, this game already reminded me of pikmin but this ost just revived my childhood.
The samurai chanting is so so extra. We stan. I mean, I just cant stop listening to this- the way the beat matches that of a marching army, how it switches between the panicking leafcutters trying to prepare and the approaching scourge- Makes me wanna join the Death Korps!!!

The Army Ants are not the only thing the leafcutters must keep mind of in these forests. Deadly Brazilian Wandering Spiders, Phoneutria Nigriventer, roam these lands during the day. These beasts, sporting a 7 inch leg span and a 2 inch body length, are infamous for the painful venom injected by their fangs. This venom can cause increased respiratory rate, excruciating pain, and even death... perfect for killing ants. With a lightning-quick speed and aggression, the leafcutters will have to be on high alert if one is to disturb their nest...
Man does this song fit the goal of the level being the war that the Leafcutter's have to wage against the Army Ants in order to drive them out of their territory
I love this one! Cold blood is still my favorite, but this perfectly represents the sheer terror of army ants waging war on my leafcutters like they're the green tide from warhammer 40k.

this is a year later and i still listen to this also they should actually blast this music when soldiers are trained in the army since it really gets the adrenaline flowing.

this idea sounds pretty cool, but sadly slug disco said that they wont be adding any arboreal insects like wasps, bees and hornets. still it sounds like a pretty cool idea.
A good follow up to the Leafcutter's bombastic themes. I imagine that the composer had really got his legs under him by this point. 2:35 or so cracks me up, it's great.
This makes me think about intense melee combat and that makes me think of warhammer 40k so I can just imagine a bunch of giant ants of different species duking it out with space marines 😆
This day on my house a multiple queen colony of native black crazy ants were moving again.First there hundreds the MILIONS,unfortunatly my mom had to use bug spray even tho she didn't want to so they do not become a plague now on were before a great empire was on a march now lies corpses of dead ants and larvae for the sparrows but there is a great chance the colony survived because of the amount of Queens that passed to the New location along with workers,eggs and larvae i will keep updated to see if they survived.

The one dislike is the giant whip spider in the center of the map who died due to leafcutter-inflicted injuries.
Yeah that thing seems tuff but is a baby, to large ones almost equals the huge.
Mostly because if you have ants far away from the huge whip spider it will attack only those ants ant leave your Frontline untouched because it has a blind spot,while the large and small dont.
