@@urmanascrewed This gen has been a mess, I have zero incentive to spend money on an overpriced console with overpriced games, which I can't even find in stores sometimes when my PS4 and switch are STILL getting every modern game I want. Sony dropped the ball this generation imo
@@KingFloch88 The Xbox also kinda shet their own bed themselves by not offering much of anything new that you couldn't get on the previous Xbox. The only games I want an Xbox for are Killer Instinct and Palworld. The PS5 sold really good on name and new hat hype alone.
@TheMahayanistNo, Nintendo realized that you dont have to put 100+ millions of dollars into each and every game. Instead they focus on making many great games without overpaying. This is why Nintendo is on top, we get some AAA games like BOTW every couple years and many many AA games every couple of months.
@@StrazdasLT If you're referring to PS5 - Xbox Series X, it's far from the most underpowered generation. Even now, you would struggle to build an equivalent PC for the same price as a console (with new parts, because if you took used parts you would have to compare to the price of a used console). And it's been four years since they released! Compare it to last gen which was severely underpowered at launch, to the point where they had to make upgraded versions in the middle.
@@StrazdasLT I want to add a more personal view beside what I said. Many people, like me, have been shifting to the indie scene, which has been growing steady for years now. With AAA games taking longer and longer to come out, with growing prices, indies gain a bigger appeal. I would guess the main reason behind this is tied to graphics. A game with more intensive graphics takes more time and a bigger budget. This would only get worse with a higher graphical target. That's why I said more graphical power is useless (although in hindsight it was an exaggeration). It's not really useless, but maybe it isn't worth it. Did we truly need ray tracing, for example? Tears of the Kingdom has one of the prettiest lighting systems I've ever seen, and it runs on a Switch. And, mind you, I'm not talking about profit. I'm talking about the quality of the games.
It's not useless, developers just don't have the time to utilize it and large publishers won't greenlight any project that is creative enough to use the increased power in any way other than increased resolution.
@@ad3970 I think we need to get rid of the practice of exclusives. I can think of a bunch of reasons why I would be happy if one of the consoles just died. The only negative I could think of is then the other one would have control of the market and who knows what they might do
@@Keyven_I agree, exclusives are pretty anti-consumer and I'm getting really sick of it in general. Also, game companies need to respect game preservation more. I'm tired of great games being trapped on old hardware and I think game exclusives hurt preservation a lot because some game companies, especially Nintendo, aren't interesting in putting exclusives on PC. These companies are leaving plenty of great games to rot on consoles most people don't own anymore
Well there's nothing more to do. We did it. We did gaming. Every technological advancement is now superfluous, the eye of the consumer cannot distinguish the quality. All that's left is to come up with me spins on old ideas. Until VR gets mainstream, we're not gonna see anything revolutionary again. That's not to say there will never be good games, just that there's nothing groundbreaking left to do.
Agreed, they're still making most games work on ps4, feels like we never even got to see what the ps5 can really be pushed to do other than spiderman 2. The 0 loading screens thing is great but underutilized, the controllers are awesome but it seems like most devs kinda just forgot to implament haptics. Idk imagine if we got to the end of the ps4's life cycle and every game was still being backported to the ps3
They are making games on PS4 because they can do it, which was unfeasible with PS3, they could be releasing games on PS4 until 2028 if they wanted@@dainfinitum7819
"How many times can you re-release the exact same things and get away with it?" This is the question that game industry has been testing for the last 10 years or so.
Gaming died during PS3 / Xbox 360 gen when small studios had to be absorbed by larger ones to afford the increasing development costs and demand, PS2 was the last creative generation with AA and AAA funding, hopefully AI and increasingly easy to use and powerful gamedev tools available will give us a new generation of creativity.
@@Grandmaster-Kush I wouldn't go that far man, as a trade off we have much more indie devs, but yeah AAA titles are sadly much less experimental and it will only get worse
The last generation bleed so far into the current generation that it feels like we still haven't gotten anything actually built specifically for current consoles yet.
We honestly haven't. Only difference between last and current gen is the reduced load times. I think Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart was the closest thing we've had to "Genuinely couldn't have been done this well on the previous console" but even that was just some flashy quick-loading stuff that they were able to work around in the PC release.
Which is the reason i still play the PS exclusives on my PS4 Pro, and wait for other games to release on PC. Even after all these years that the PS5 released, i still dont see a reason to get one.
Okay but have you seen the prices of videogames in the retro age? You say that like paying 70 or 80 bucks for a game is insane but adjust for inflation and the AAA games nowadays are relatively cheap or on par with early video games. Especially before Nintendo entered the market you could pay the equivalent of like $150 just to get some big steamer of a game. To be honest, you don't even have to go back all that far. The inflation calculator is pretty handy for this.

Sequels I don't inherently mind. God of War Ragnarok, for example, was still an absolutely stellar title that expanded the story and gameplay in all the ways you'd want from a sequel. There's definitely a problem with players demanding endless remakes of titles and buying a game they already own again at full price, or buying every rushed new entry in a series they know while never looking at anything else in the genre (looking at you, Pokemon), but it does provide safe money to companies to be able to fund their more experimental and niche stuff. And there's always tons of great stuff to find outside of AAA.

@@144chosen However, I recommend building your own PC. It's expensive to start off, yes. However 'prebuilt' PC's are often way too over priced anyways. But also do research to better understand the best way to 'future proof' your PC. What I mean but this is, understand what the current, low, mid, and top range components are for a PC in today's current generation. If you are tight on budget, a mid range pc might be best for you. It will still last you a while, but if you want the best of the best in terms of really future proofing your machine. Top range is the way to go, but very expensive. The list will be too long to put here, but you get the point. Identifying what is part is compatible with each other is also critical in understanding how long it will last you (as in upgrading it) will go a long way. Also, look up, bottlenecking too. For example, if you have a really powerful graphics card, but a weaker cpu. Your machine will be 'bottlenecked' as in your more 'powerful' component won't be utilising it's full protentional. Don't want to complicate things here, so I advice you look look it up. It's better to build your own PC, and understand 'future proofing' your machine. It will benefit you more long term. And having knowledge on the ins and out of your own PC will make upgrading parts even easier for the future. Since you'd built it yourself, it's better. I also recommend using a website called 'pc part picker' when going down the route of building your own PC. It show's what components are compatible, but still check anyways just in case. I'm exited for you in this journey. It can be overwhelming at fist, I won't lie. But over time, it will be rewarding!

For all the five people who use it? And we already have it anyways. More sensors? The ones we already have are used by barely any games! Artificial Intelligence? We are not THAT far into the technology yet. Stronger GPU? AAA games already take stupid amounts of money to make, I shudder to imagine what it would take to make actually photorealistic graphics, even with capable hardware. We can't even tell the difference anymore anyways! New controllers? That's a peripheral, not a console feature. New exclusives? You can make them for the PS5. Voice chat? Already perfect. One of the best games to come out since 2017 was in 2021 called NieR replicant ver 1.22. A remake/upgrade yes, but for a game with a cult following, and what was done for the remake/upgrade is a gold standard for what remakes/upgrades should be. Other titles that got remastered, remade, or upgraded are no slouches either. Deadspace and the resident evil games have been killing it. Also, gaming is new enough still that we only recently have even come to the point for remasters or remakes are sensible and possible. It was only at the start of the ps4 generation that remasters and remakes were reasonable. So remasters and remakes are not an old fad that everyone is tired of. Hey the second part of final fantasy is about to be released. It only took years to come out and gta6 will be coming this century. This is a bad time to be a console gamer.
Well for me the game price increase from Sony and their subscriptions going crazy is what made me not to buy a PS5 and stop paying for their shit PS Plus for like 2 or 3 years already. Last game I bought 4 my PS4 Pro was probably GT7, I can't even remember. Literally can't do almost anything in those consoles without the insert credit card thing so I stick mostly on my PC. PS: Just hope Sony someday bring all their games to PC making people like me to not ever needing to buy a console anymore cause M$ already does that and as for Nintendo can't say I care much for their stuff...
Great. The less people that reward these goofs for creating exclusively owned gaming consoles when it could all just be put on a universal platform (like a PC), the better.
I built my PC back in 2014 for $650 and it still plays every new game that comes out at max or near-max settings at 60fps. I could have purchased both a PS4 and PS5 in that time-frame and I'd have blown over a thousand dollars. Also, when you factor in Steam the games are cheaper and I have access to so many games it makes my head spin.

exactly same here brother haha. And taking a step back, I'm so happy I didnt buy it. I hope PS6 will be something else, PS5 was my first attempt at entering Sony's gaming universe.
Oh, what a delightful journey of self-discovery we have here! First, the classic 'I couldn't get my hands on it' excuse - clearly, exclusivity is just too high of a concept for some. Then, the 'no games' argument, as if our award-winning lineup is just background noise. And now, the cherry on top, the 'later stage of its life cycle.' Bravo to this gaming philosopher! Maybe next time they'll claim they turned down a PS5 just for the thrill of it.
@@leatherman7700 Your jesting is truly too high brow. I admit I can't tell if you're being facetious or not. But, 'Award winning' lineup of remakes, remasters, and sequels, nearly all of which are available on the older console. Marvelous.
idk who keeps telling y’all this “no game” bs, but there are atleast 10 games coming out this year that won’t be available on ps4 i’m genuinely curious who keeps telling y’all there are “no games” to be played on ps5
I suggest just not buying a console ever again. Every generation since the PlayStation 3 has been worse than the previous one. The PlayStation 2 was truly a masterpiece but nothing since has been worth a shit. The PlayStation 3 was OK but the PlayStation 4 was sup-par and the PlayStation 5 has been an abject failure. The PS5 is basically a $500 paperweight unless you enjoy playing the same games you played on the PS4 over and over again.
@@Travybear1989 I disagree - I still have PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 - if I could only keep one, it would be the PS4 - not only for its exclusives, but all the remakes from the previous consoles.
There are currently 13 PS5 exclusives. That will drop to 11 by the end of the year when FF7 Rebirth and Spider-Man 2 move to PC. It also includes a pack-in title, 2 VR games, and 3 unreleased games.
If Sony doesn't put a stop to their games with increasingly ballooning budgets, we're gonna see the rest of those 11 exclusives drop on PC and even day-and-date drops in 1-3 years They're already testing the waters with Helldivers
@@malif1279helldivers is massively successful on PC right now. They're gonna see the money and greenlight relasing games on PC sooner. Stellar blade is another exclusive coming up and that game is definitely getting a PC port within a year tops. Like....any year they want, create a PC port and whatever other games come out that year, bloodborne will rank among them in the top game sales on steam. Probably even the top. Also a good excuse to pull off a remaster and rerelease it on playstation. But no, sony is being a stuck up pony.

We have undoubtedly reached a point where more power in consoles is pretty useless
Plus most ps4 games never got enhanced version not even 60fps
It's not useless, developers just don't have the time to utilize it and large publishers won't greenlight any project that is creative enough to use the increased power in any way other than increased resolution.

@@indigo7898 Yeah I just got mine a year ago and it feels like I've had it for two months, since I only played 2 or 3 games on it yet, it has spent more time collecting dust than anything else. I usually wait before buying a console, well for the PS5 I didn't have much of a choice anyway. Oh well I'll probably get my PS6 in 5 or 6 years too, if ever.
Leave the grandmas out of this
The PS5 is 4 years old this year. Console cycles used to be 4-5 years, the 2008 recession happened and since then the cycle is 7-8 years. So with that in mind, we're at the halfway point in 9th gen. Time moves fast when you're not looking....
Not only is the ps5 in reality only for 2 years now really available, if the ps5 will have a long support with adapted ps6 titles ( as the ps4 had with ps5 games) buying the ps6 makes no sense.
I will always remember this as the console no one could buy for years and honestly I dont think I ever saw one in person.
I got one about a year ago when I could actually find one. I don't regret it necessarily, but I have plenty of games in the backlog, and if broken $70 releases continue to be a thing I see no reason to upgrade.
I hadnt thought about it, I think I havent seen one outside a box either
I owned like 3 and have tons of friends who have one these days. Back on 2021 when it first released it was REALLY rare to see someone have one, 2022 it was more rare but I think that was about the time I got my first one. Had to go to a local Walmart after there were reports in some ps5 stock watching discord servers that local walmarts were getting random ps5s in stock.
I got it because shortly after release of ps5 my PS4 disc drive toasted itself, it is a good console to buy if your PS4 becomes a toast.
I still can't buy one in person. don't see it at any stores
No but seriously, what would you even MAKE after the PlayStation 5? What would you add to a successor?
8k 120fps? We're getting bottlenecked by our TVs at this point.
VR? For all the five people who use it? And we already have it anyways.
More sensors? The ones we already have are used by barely any games!
Artificial Intelligence? We are not THAT far into the technology yet.
Stronger GPU? AAA games already take stupid amounts of money to make, I shudder to imagine what it would take to make actually photorealistic graphics, even with capable hardware. We can't even tell the difference anymore anyways!
New controllers? That's a peripheral, not a console feature.
New exclusives? You can make them for the PS5.
Voice chat? Already perfect. The Dualsense microphone is legitimately better than your average headset!
Portability? Playstation Q, a phone, or any of the older PlayStation handheld can stream from the PS5 just nicely.
What's the point, Sony? What is the point?
@@StrazdasLT Ray Tracing is far from a game changer. I can see AI being a thing in the far future, but for now it needs way too much power and cooling to achieve remarkable feats on a home machine aimed at casual video game players.

Exclusives do not encompass the entirety of games coming out during a generation.
Also, generations are measured by console lifespans and not the PC platform which always has been and always will be indefinite.
Also, let's not forsake remakes or remasters.
It's a valid thing to do for older games, but the way sony has been using it for the last of us is a gross misuse of the term and they're milking money off of it.
Exclusives are unhealthy overall, and other outstanding games that aren't exclusive come out all the time.
Gaming has always had shit games mixed with hit games. Over time only the hit games are remembered and then people look back with nostalgia years and years later thinking that the time those games came out were golden years of gaming when really it's mostly a mixed bag every year.
Theres only really been 3 glistening glorious golden years of gaming which is 2017, 2021 and 2023. Arguments can be made for other years too like late 2010-2011, or early-mid 2000's.
Anyways, don't look back with rose tinted glasses, and don't look around now with black tinted glasses. Don't look forward with any glasses. Keep expectations neutral and open.

But you know people would then bitch about not getting the game without having to upgrade and publishers would complain about not reaching a larger demographic.
That's why must have exclusives are necessary to push for a console manufacturer, or else there's no point in buying in.
Nintendo is a good model of how not to butcher a business model.
Its insane how well the switch is doing heading into its 8th year compared to the ps5s 4th
Switch is 7 years old (2017)
@@arianathearyan he said heading into its 8th year, which is true, since it's almost March now
@@arianathearyan i think it's a glass half full or glass half empty scenario. its eighth year technically starts on the 7th anniversary, just a little turn-of-phrase.
Poor Xbox, people doesnt even remember about it
I mean, Nintendo is also releasing a new console this year, so...
The killer of the consoles is the conplete lack of new original exclusive games I literally spent the consoles entire lifespan swapping between games I already had waiting for a new big game to come out
Exclusive games have always been a stupid gimmick to make consumers waste money in multiple platforms.
They provide nothing of real value to the consumer.
The killer of the consoles is corporate greed and an extremely passive community when it comes to asking for things to get better. If Sony doesn't get any real backlash, the PS6 is going to be the same shit. Until the PS7, the PS7 will fix everything of course. It's the nature of the consumer tho, console gamers are either little kids with a lot of spare time and no voice, money or power, or adults with not enough time to waste complaining about much. Casual dad gamers. Very easy targets to sell shit covered in gold to.
Hey the second part of final fantasy is about to be released. It only took years to come out and gta6 will be coming this century. This is a bad time to be a console gamer.
exclusives are an anticonsumer practice why would you ever beg for them, pathetic
I really hope we get Astro's Playroom Remastered for the Playstation 6
me too man, me too.....
The best Sony Original
And The last of us remake
I hate that I'd play that 😅
Maybe it’s better to invest in a good pc, if they’re gonna pull the plug on their consoles this fast
I built my PC back in 2014 for $650 and it still plays every new game that comes out at max or near-max settings at 60fps. I could have purchased both a PS4 and PS5 in that time-frame and I'd have blown over a thousand dollars.
Also, when you factor in Steam the games are cheaper and I have access to so many games it makes my head spin.
how many thousands did you spend? lmao, a geforce gtx 1080 ti is running most new demanding games nowadays at medium and it was one of the best gpu's in 2016 @@Travybear1989
@@Travybear1989 That is a lie lmao. It's not possible for 2014 hardware to do that.
@@swiss8988 I think you'd be surprised, running Cyberpunk at 60fps and the only thing I have turned down are shadows on medium.
The Xbox 360's 2005 hardware ran GTA 5, so it's pretty possible.

You guys remember the "PS3 has no games" meme?
PS3 has more games turns out
And to this day one of the best console after ps2
Still outsold xbox 360 at the end of the day
Still can't believe the PS3 came out on top. I spent my later childhood getting hated on by everyone I knew, because I was the only loser with an old fat PS3.
You guys remember the "PS4 has no games" meme?
PS3 was a late bloomer but early on it was definitely lacking in games.
Wait what 😂?!
First I had no option to even buy it, then I didn’t care to buy it because there are no games and now it is “in later stage of its life cycle”.
exactly same here brother haha.
Marvelous.
idk who keeps telling y’all this “no game” bs, but there are atleast 10 games coming out this year that won’t be available on ps4
i’m genuinely curious who keeps telling y’all there are “no games” to be played on ps5

Remember how this console was next to impossible to get just a few years ago and now there's still hardly anything to play on it?
no way lmao, I havent even gotten a ps5 yet and they already sunsetting? thats crazy.

If Sony doesn't put a stop to their games with increasingly ballooning budgets, we're gonna see the rest of those 11 exclusives drop on PC and even day-and-date drops in 1-3 years

I expect GoW:Ragnarok will make its way to PC, too.
@@malif1279helldivers is massively successful on PC right now. They're gonna see the money and greenlight relasing games on PC sooner.
Stellar blade is another exclusive coming up and that game is definitely getting a PC port within a year tops.
The only game that is anger inducing over them keeping it locked away in exclusivity is bloodborne. Financially it makes no sense why they don't release that game on PC.
Like....any year they want, create a PC port and whatever other games come out that year, bloodborne will rank among them in the top game sales on steam. Probably even the top. Also a good excuse to pull off a remaster and rerelease it on playstation.
But no, sony is being a stuck up pony.
horizon fw is also coming to pc soon. Though it's really not the issue. 7-10 great exclusives is more than enough, but they gotta be great lol.
Who cares about exclusives? Everything is going to be coming out on everything soon enough. People will still buy consoles for the sheer plug n play ease of use.

You're probably too young to remember the console wars. They ended a long time ago Billy. Those stopped mattering circa 2013. Also the Switch has double the users that Steam or Epic does. If anybody is going over to PC gaming they apparently don't do it through Steam or Epic games.
