I love the looks you children flash your direction when you are “corny”. I love this content. 👍🙏🌻
Fertilizing with the farm animal's waste and trimming back some of the dead and unwanted branches is a start to keeping the apples from spotting. Good luck. It helped us.
Yall have raised some nice kid's
Looks like the apple trees need to be prune 😊❤
Thats awesome that your hard work years ago is finally paying off. 🍎 🍏 😊❤
Apple slices and peanut butter ❤ Look at them apples! 😃so awesome!
I remember picking apples with my grandmother and she would make the best home made apple butter I ever tasted,.
Dutch Oven Apple Cobbler w/ homemade ice cream topping. 😋
I loved seeing the boys come to life when you tossed the apples to them to harvest. They were enjoying the process and getting some good time with Dad.
Was building road... pushing on a big stump and the Yellow Jackets boiled out taking their jackets off and handing their glasses to their buddy MAD!!! Got stung 27 times that time... probably the worst for me... also, I learned this day that they can operate a D-7 Cat as it was running and they were the ONLY ones on it!!!
I've been stung by wasps and yellow jackets. Allergic now to yellow jackets because the one incident (when I was a teenager) with them was a swarm, so I've learned how to be a yellow jacket detector and how to pretend to be nothing they're interested in so I don't get stung again! Apples are good raw and cooked - I like apples pretty much any way apples can be. I'd feel a little like that part of the Forrest Gump movie where Bubba is talking about all the ways to use shrimp if I listed all the ways I like apples. LOL Thanks for sharing the throwback to when y'all planted the apple trees - seeing the kids so small and now so tall made me smile!
Keep adding fruit and nut trees! You’ll never regret it!
Yes, I've ran over a yellow jacket nest with a push mower as a teenager. They're the worst sting, in my opinion.
My Granny taught me to thump the apple to listen for a hollow sound. Works for us every time.
I enjoyed the comradery with you and the boys. It's truly a beautiful thing to see. It's better than having them sitting and watching tv or playing video games all day. 🍏🍎🍏🍛🥧
I can up my apples and then make apple crisp. One quart jar makes a 9x9 pan it is awesome
With the pieces of apples and the peels, we make our own apple cider and vinegar. We also make a fruit leather with the apples for the grandkids. Best dessert is the apple cobbler! With homemade ice cream on top. We dry them and mix with nuts and raisins, sweeten oats with maple syrup for a trail mix. But last and best of all, we cook them and use as a nice side dish for chicken, lamb, turkey and duck. We eat them fresh everyday and enjoy handing them out to our pets as treats. They enjoy the apple season too. GOD BLESS you all!
Good Catchers Micah and Josiah.
so cool the kids are making fun times with this
Those apples look and sound so crispy and delicious!
Always feels great harvesting from your hard works
Once when I was eight yrs. old, I was mowing the yard and got over a yellow jacket nest and was swarmed by them, and got stung many times, and four years ago, I was swarmed by hornets and got stung by them 9 times. They were in our well cap when I was trying to hook our hose to the well. I didn't think of flying critters, all I was thinking of was snakes being under there. It was very painful for a couple of days! Thank the Lord I'm not allergic!
When I was a kid we would carve out the core of an apple (you will only cut yourself once before you learn to be careful) and fill it with peanut butter! So good❤️
As an adult, I cut the apple into slices and then spread peanut butter on each slice.
What a precious flashback of planting the trees! Great catches, guys! S, you are growing into such a beautiful young woman on the outside, and I will pray after writing this, for all of you to grow in the Lord on the inside through a relationship with Christ alone.
Mike my Grandma had a Green Apple tree on the edge of her yard and those were the best tasting apples i think I have ever ate. She didn't treat it or spray for bugs we just watched for worm holes.
I add apple slices to my potato and onions for our breakfast. It adds a delicious sweet flavor to the mix. Try it!
Thank you for the lemon in water tip! appreciate all you knowledge! and info! thank you so much for putting yourself and family for helping us all learn from your experiences.
Apples are my favorite in a pie. It has the best flavor if you mix two or more varieties of apples. Thanks for the tip about lemons, I never heard of that before.
Hey Mike, I am Tommy from Montgomery county NC. I like apples fresh, fried, in a pie, cobbler, apple sauce and apple juice.
I grew up in Maine i remember the apples being so large and juicy you took a shower. I started a mini apple tree in a large grow bag last year. Macintosh were the best but i live nowhere near where they grow and they do not keep/ travel well. Go soft quickly.
I love these throw back videos so cool😊
When we lived in Bakersville, NC. I remember my mom used to work in an apple packing warehouse called the Apple House. That's where I first tried the golden delicious apples and I was hooked. I love eating them plain. But I do love apple butter on a nice hot biscuit 😋.
Awesome video God Bless you and your family Amen
Here’s a thought-trim them so that they grow more sideways and then no falling of a ladder!!🤗
I like to cook the apples down with sweet onions till caramelized and mix with ground turkey to make sausage. It's great! You guys are awesome! Keep on keeping on!
I love your apple trees. Did you know that with all the sugar in the apples they will ferment? Once they ferment that will attract the yellow jackets and the hornets. When they eat on the fermented apples they get drunk and there is nothing worse than an ill tempered drunk yellow jacket or hornet. That's why it's best to keep them picked up. Once I had a whole bunch of them chase me back into the house. I had to go out that night to finish picking the rest up. Oh, and I make apple butter out of mine.
Such beautiful fruit,good eating👍🌾🍁🍂🇺🇲
I'm glad I found Ya'll again
Fun harvesting apples.
taking a bite out of the apple ..... and break 3 teeth ;) ..... guess theyr werent ready yet ... lol
planted a few more apple trees this year ... now we in total i got 2 trees with apples specif. for applepies ... 4 trees with red sweet/sour handapples ..and 2 with green apples (1 sour and another sweet).... nothing sweeter then walk arround the garden and pick an apple as snack from youre own tree...
btw Good to see youre arm is doing better...
I've been stung by a wasp two times. Like you my recent sting was on my middle finger. 😢
I have been stung by a nest of yellowjackets. Thankfully my dad grabbed the kerosene and doused me with it. The stings were SO painful, but the kerosene took the sting out.
Got stung by hornets many years ago. I ran over a hornet nest while mowing and the buzzers went wild and attacked. By the time I got to the house, I had eight nasty welts coming on. the Family quickly got baking soda and made a damp paste and smeared each bite . I think they gave me Benadryl as well (can't remember, happened too fast). The baking soda treatment was continued for a couple of more days The mower over the nest caused the hornets to continued to attack the blades as it kept running until it ran out of gas. When I went out later in the cool of the evening to get the mower, there were no bees left. They apparently kept attacking until they were gone. Believe me, I approached very slowly and carefully and was extremely surprised when no bees appeared.
Y’all are awesome! I always learn a new and helpful thing 🥰
Thank for your sharing❤❤❤
You sure make me want to go grab an apple! Why wasn’t Lacey enjoying picking the apples since it was her that planted the apple tree soooo many years ago. She should enjoy her beautiful results! God bless.🥰❤️🙏🏻🍁🇨🇦
Apple butter is great and apple sauce, chunky and apple crisp dried apples 🍎
Apple pie sounds delicious....😊
When I was 7 I was following behind the bigger kids and they jumped over a pile of sticks in the woods. I didn't make it and landing in the middle. I was wearing flip flops and a branch stuck between my foot pinning me in and as I kept trying to pull my foot free I disturbed a nest in the pile. By the time my friend (still friends 43 years later) got me out and he was stung they stoped counting my stings at 100. I was stung so many times in so many places that I lived in baking soda bath for almost a day. Now if I'm stung I just itch for a minute unless it's a wasp then it's intimated for a couple days only
Pick yummy apples and have fun! That's the way to do it. :-)
May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the animals and the homestead and planting fruit trees and plants and providing food for your family and other people
I see your bee hives in your orchard. How are the honey bees doing?❤
I like apples with popcorn or cheese, in apple pies, applesauce too
Fun times with Dad😂❤😂❤🎉
awesome!
You MUST try baking apples with crushed gingersnap cookies. I love adding crushed gingersnaps to my applesauce, too, but it's not as good as baked apples.
I'm a fan of fried apple slices with my oatmeal in the morning. Here in Wisconsin we have little tiny bees we called sweat bees they can be evil. Sting like the dickens.
best wasp, hornet fighter is on your head.... the cap comes off quickly to slap the bee down and hopefully step on it....
My 9 yr old daughter experienced her first sting about a month ago and it was from a yellow jackets. She got stung on lip and lower back. Now she seems to have a fear of any flying insect that gets close to her 😂🤦♀️
Have you ever considered getting some apple pickers on those long poles for those high apples?
79 years old, here, and never been stung by any of those guys. I have had bees on my finger to pet and didn't get stung. Once when staining the deck, a hornet, whose nest was in the eaves, came to check me out. She was getting too close to my face, so I blew on her to move her away. She moved, alright. Once those little wings had no air under them, she dropped right down the front of my tank top. Weird feeling. I pulled the top as far out from my chest as I could, and she just flew out. But still, she did not sting me. I can't help but think living things like me because of how close I can get to them. Sometimes they come to me. Like the butterfly that fluttered around until I put my hand up for it to land or the curious deer that came up to me when I was a child. Also a squirrel came to where I was sitting on the grass to check me out. (I live in the country.) Word must have gotten around: "Oh, she's the one who doesn't kill spiders, but puts them outside."
Sliced apples with cinnamon sugar or caramel sauce. Or just a little salt. Yum❤😂🎉😊
I was stung by a yellow jacket when I was about 13 and it was also my middle finger. I was playing outside church.
Good Job ❤
❤
I'm from the Caribbean. Our elders plant according to the moon. When the moon phase is "ascending," trees planted during this time grow taller. The reverse is true for anything planted when the moon is "descending."
Very interesting 😊 Thanks for sharing 😃👍🏻
That goes back to Ethiopia 😊

No, it doesn't.
Many cultures have used lunar planting, including:
Ancient Egyptians: One of the first cultures to record the moon's influence on plant growth.
Ancient Babylonians: One of the first cultures to record the moon's influence on plant growth.
Traditional Chinese: Used a 24-part solar year divided into solar terms to predict the best times to plant and harvest crops.
Ancient Celts: Used a lunar calendar divided into 13 months of 28 days each, with each month named after a plant or tree.
Native North American cultures: Practiced lunar gardening.
Lunar gardening, or planting by the moon, is the practice of using the moon's phases to determine when to plant...
@@deanjones2525 like really. Why is it that people in the comments have to be so rude 🤔😑
My Pennsylvania Dutch father in law lived by that....even when digging and putting in fence posts!!! Root crops during new moon above ground crops during full moon...and...it works!!! Test it out for yourself....
I just have a pear tree. Pears cannot ripen on the tree, because that means they are rotten. We pick deadfalls every day or two. Many are salvageable for chunky pear sauce. I make tons of pear sauce and freeze it. By picking deadfalls daily, they don't add up so the bees don't get so numerous. I was stung once, in my breast! I was holding a bunch of pears to my chest and missed a bee that didn't like what was happening. We peel and core the most ripe and cook lightly then chill and freeze. We repeat every few days as they ripen in a small frig we have. We soak in a mix of lemon juice and water as we peel and cut. We use a reaching tool to pick deadfalls, for safety. Our tree is at least 20 yrs old and we top it every couple yrs because it gets too tall to get the fruit even with a ladder and apple picker on a long pole. We clear pick the tree over the course of a week or two, processing the riper pears, leaving the greener ones to ripen in the frig. I make cakes and breads or eat the pears like apple sauce. I hope you wash the fruit well. My tree is near the road in our subdivision and the pears are dirty. I soak before we peel.
I made some applesauce so I made applesauce cake. I had to buy apples. My trees were just planted.
Ask for a telescopic apple picker for Christmas! You’ll get your money’s worth!
Love apple butter😊
Put you some cinnamon and redhot candies in your applesauce. Delicious!
I was stung 😢by 1 or 2 wasps. First time ever . It was soooo painful. 😮ouch. I was at the pond and must have walked over a female nest. I was stung in 3 areas.
What about apple cider, apple juice, apple vinegar. Pies sound great, when is dinner????
Sliced apples dipped in honey!
oh my been stung by all of them thankfully i am not allergic to bees
Your wife and Sela should can applesauce, Applebutter, apple cider, apple pie filling, and apple cider vinegar. 😋
❤❤❤❤
I got stung by yellow jacket that went up my dress one time and then when I was five years old, I got stung by a bumblebee on my eye, and my dad put snuff on it
How old is that tree? If i remember correctly, you weren't supposed to harvest a fruit tree before it was 5 years old.
Will your animals eat the bad apples?
Yellow jackets -911 time and epipen in the ER..!!
To extend life of Tom’s- place a piece of scotch tape on the ‘cord’ and it will last in great condition 5 weeks maybe 5weeks& 5 days.
I saw this on internet and it is really true..!!🤗
Much like how storing avocados in water is risky, leaving citrus to bathe in water creates a breeding ground for bacteria like listeria or salmonella that may be on the fruit's skin going in.
if yall had some hogs they would love those over ripe apples
question, why do you not vacuum seal them or does it really matter for short turm storage
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cog Hill 40 shows how to grow fruit on a trellis
My husband had given me my engagement ring and it was too big so we didn’t tell anybody that he had proposed and the day we were supposed to go back and pick it up. I got stung on my ring. Finger broke my heart.
❤
Apple cider. Apple cider vinegar.
I have been stung and the bite gets nasty. Even the Asian beetles sting me like a Bee.
Do you make apple cider vinegar too?
yellow jacket swarm jilled my paternal grandfmother in ax, Fla in 1929, rb, conyers, ga
Why could you not put the black soil around that fruit tree from the bottom to the top? Why are there rocks in hard clay clumps.
Your boys are growing like weeds
Please where I goggles when picking your apples.Because god forbid you reach in to get one and another branch pokes into your eye... It has happened to me more than once.
I eat almost everything apple except apple sauce I had ate way to much of it hot really burnt out on it
Apple butter..
Love apple pie and apple crisp can't eat raw dentures don't work on raw apples.
Congress just told Biden they won't come back to pass aid for disasters. IT can wait till Nov 12. I say Congress members need to go spend that time with the people surviving these disasters 😡angry Texan
