Thanks for the details, I borrowed a PSVR from a friend as I want to compare it to my Rift. One word of advice though - in the future make sure your game/PC audio is balanced with your mic audio. When you started Minecraft I basically couldn't hear a word you said, same for GTA at the end.

How did the PSVR compare with the Rift?
I would like to know as well... I recently posted how to get the Rift games working with the PSVR but I would love to know if the experience is comparable.
Honestly IMHO there was no comparison and the Rift wins in every way. The only way I'd consider using a PSVR on a PC would be if I already owned a PS4 and a gaming PC and want to do VR on both. I was hoping to like the mount much better since it's around your forehead and not your face but that just didn't make a huge difference. The field of view is a bit lower which you can notice as it's not right pressed on your face. I also never really got it working smoothly and perfectly as I didn't care to as I like almost everything about the Rift more. The bottom line is one is a hack done by a small team and while it's impressive I'd rather have the support of Oculus (Facebook) behind mine as the overall experience is SO MUCH BETTER.

Thanks for the feedback... but I have to ask, you say you "never got it working smoothly or perfectly because you didn't care to", does that mean that your opinion was already biased towards the Rift regardless of the result? I agree that this is a "hack" but it still allows you to play tons of games. I have had the opportunity recently to compare the Vive, Rift and PSVR and I feel like the experiences were very comparable to one another. Granted that these have a slightly higher resolution and positional tracking is not yet working for the PSVR. However, this is a work in progress and the PSVR is still a young headset, I am sure that future updates will refine the experience even more and close the gap between the different headsets. Perhpas a new video is due where I compare all three experiences... thanks for watching!
Steam VR won't detect my headset
Great Video, very informative and you have helped me make a decision in what VR system to purchase.I will get Playstation VR now that I know it can be integrated with PC and still get more bang for the buck with more VR experiences to enjoy.Just to be clear though , you are saying you do not have to have a VR ready gaming PC as long as you have Playstation VR which can be connected to a older PC in order to reap the benefits of Steam VR platforms and the like.Also you are saying that you don't have to have a high end graphics card on PC either because that's all routed through the Playstation.I hope I understood you correctly.
You would still need a PC that is capable of playing games regardless. The PS box does nothing to boost the performance. If your computer can't play the game in the first place, then it will not work in VR either.
Whenever i calibrate the headset, when I look inside it all I see is my desktop glitching out. It won’t let me send the SteamVR thing over to VR. Please help

Dynamism Impulse you need to make sure it’s plugged in to your DisplayPort on your graphics card

if for some of you, it doesn't work, take the cable that link to your usb and the black box to another usb port on your computer (espacially on older computer) I found that my front usb port were too slow and didn't work. I used my back computer usb port and it suddenly work just fine! hope it help.

I have had my 'helmet' for a week now and i am so happy with it! People don't seem to understand how this thing is amazing. I just watched StarWars The clone war on what appear like a 9 feet tall screen by 16 feet large screen in my little bedroom and i think i had the 'stupid smile' the entire session... People don't realize this is a major feature. Just think about it! Who can buy a IMAX screen that magically 'fit' into a bedroom and watch a movie or play a game on it for 500$ ????!!!!! My friend, if i had known this before, i would have bought this thing when it came out. it is magical. Playing Skyrim VR ( i must have about 600 hours on this normal game) was like playing it for the first time AGAIN! Never before did i actually felt humble looking up to this Dragon attacking Helgen!
Sorry if i'm babbling but honestly, this is the best 'gift' i ever give myself. I cannot wait to play all my ps3 game on this big screen!!! Just imagine APACHE AIR ASSAULT, DEAD SPACE, DEAD ISLAND, ALIEN ISOLATION, ...and ANY GAME WITH A CAR, lol...

I have PSVR V2 and when i get that "start" point my computer screen doesn't just flick it goes vr more straight or something? PSVR own screen looks also like when you are looking vr without vr classes effect.

Quick question,
I set up the PSVR with trinus and it works great! I've got it working in cinema mode but when I switch to side by side for real VR it doesn't work. It works but it looks like the right eye and left eye overlap almost as if there is no middle between the eyes. Is it a scaling issue? Any ideas on how to fix it?
I had a similar problem and the way I fixed it was by switching my monitor to match the headset's display (1920 x 1080). It seems if the display is different and you send it to the extended display, it leaves a bit of space on the right side which screws up the image.
My second monitor (the one I am sending the PSVR through in trinus) is on 1920X1080. Do both monitors need to be on that resolution? I don't seem to have an option for that resolution on my main monitor
Yeah that was my problem too... some monitors don't have that resolution as an option and I think it has to do with the aspect ratio of the monitor itself. If it is a 16:9 aspect ratio (widescreen) it has 1920 x 1080 as an option but if it is a 4:3 (more square), it doesn't. Hope this helps...
But I do have the second monitor on 1920X1080-is there anything else that is wrong that I have to fix?

I do have an issue though.. anything i download through the SteamVR workshop doesn't show under SteamVR? I literally only have Room set up and that's it?
Also, i seem to have issues switching to monitor 2 in game.. I just see my desktop? Only temp way i found around this was to use Monitor 1 but this works half the time.
Any suggestions?
Hmmm I think you will see the games in regular Steam. They will show up under the VR category and should launch automatically in SteamVR.

you can connect your remotes with "PSMoveSteamVRBridge" using a blutooth dongle and 2 ps3 cams

I did everything like you said, when i open steamVr i have notifications (headset notice steamVR has detected your headset running as monitor. For best results please switch to direct display mode, i press the direct display mode and nothing happens still the notification is there and i have red screen in my monitor. What can I do for this?

@@floydmcroy1931 I think its an issue with the GPU. I dont have a dedicated card. I was trying to run it on the Intel integrated card. Upgrading your GPU might help...

Check your graphic card setting and see if your pixel profile is set to 4:4:4

Quick question...does trinus take advantage of the PSVR 120hz refresh rate? Or is it locked at 60fps?
everything works up until the point when im trying to move the display from my monitor (display 1 ) to psvr (display 2). while im able to move the display, the psvr is always showing a light red monochrome screen.

Nothing super special... I have an i5 processor with a 970 GTX video card, 16gB DDR3 ram. To be honest, I keep my computer super clean and I use Razor to speed things up a bit. Most games run great... not necessarily the highest graphic settings but good enough.
Bought Trinus but now asking for steamvr folder which I don't have. Do I have to install Vive software?

Hi, new subscriber here. I really like your videos. I managed to get this working by following your other video using tridef. However, do the games need further configuring. I've tried two so far and the first issue is what should the actual in game resolution ideally be? And my gameplay feels Jerky and jumps when I look around. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Ideally you should try to match the headset's resolution of 1920 x 1080. The jerkiness might be related to the speed of your computer but I cannot say for certain.

So nobody will see this but im gonna type it anyway, my problem is that the "X usb" pops up when i plug in my usb cable. I tried plugging the usb cable into the wall instead of my computer, and it worked! ... for about 3 minutes. I tried going to trinus and it said it did not detect my psvr, however when i unplugged it and the error popped up again, it said it could detect my psvr. Now even pluggiing the usb into the wall it wont even show anything. It will only show the "X Usb" error. What can i do to fix this?
steam vr says ready also has a capitol H in the circle don't no what that means don't have headset just an H with circle round it
On the newer versions of SteamVR the H just means "Headset"
H means that it detects a headset connected.

Hey James! Thanks for the tutorials... I've purchased VorpX after seeing your videos.. But I'm having a problem when i send the video to the headset, Trinus and Steam VR are working fine. Steam VR Room is displaying fine in my headset. when I launch a game it displays in the headset like the individual images are the wrong way around and overlapping. Can you give me any pointers ? +Ashelley2007 A couple things to check... Make sure you are on mirror display. Make sure you monitor is set to 1920 x 1080. Adjust your IPD setting in Trinus to account for the overlap. Thanks for watching!
Cheers James for the reply! Yeah had all that setup up but still no joy! I ended up purchasing Windows 10 and dual booting it and all is working fine now, not sure what the problem was in Win 7.. are there any settings I should use in Steam to get the best out of the PSVR?
It depends on the game but most native SteamVR games will work pretty excellent with the PSVR without any major modifications.
I recommend running Razor Cortex to keep everything running optimally.

Really hard to troubleshoot problems that I can't replicate... What video card are you using and is your headset hooked up into it's HDMI port? This is very important since you cannot hook up in the motherboard HDMI port. Is your monitor resolution set to 1920 x 1080? Needs to match the headset resolution. If you are able to hook up a TV to the optional Video Out port on the PSVR box, what does the screen show? Have you tried shutting down the computer completely and restarting it... sometimes it needs a hard shutdown before the second display is detected. When you use USBDView does it detect the PSVR as connected? The more info I have, the better I can help you. Thanks for watching!
I've got gforce 1070 and my computer recognise only psvr but doesn't see TV so I can't change any settings during using VR
Can you double check that your monitor (not the headset) is set to 1920 x 1080? Super important that the resolutions match for the display to extend properly.

Thanks for the video..I used this with my Smartphone on Gear. The head tracking is bad as it depends on Gyro of the phone. Do you know how is it for PlayStation VR? Does it uses the camera for tracking? Subbed

This is such a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway just to make thi clear to me: while in mouse mode, playing games with no originally embedded VR support, I can't expect the game to be actually rendered stereoscopically, right? I mean, of course you have one picture per eye, but it's the same picture getting mirrored, there are no two virtual cameras capturing the game's virtual world (thus, no depth on the Z axis). Am I right on this one? I'm looking very closely at your GTA V footage and left and right seem quite identical, infact.
+Ivano Scoppetta actually depending on the split screen render that you use certain ones will work in full 3D. If I output using TriDEF then the image is in 3D

WOuld it work on low end vid cards? I have a shitty GT710 or whatever POS was shipped in my cheap PC. Will possibly upgrade but dont want to spend past the 1050TI price bracket.
PSVR not detected. Is it switched on? Check your connections, make sure the PSVR is on and re-install the PSVR driver if necessary (from Advanced tab) how do i fix this?
can you please give detailed instructions of how you actually connect everything into your **desktop**computer and running trinusvr for the first time? pretty sure a lot of ppl get that usb with x error in the head set when they try to connect it. also, when you have the psvr connected and turned on for first time, how do you make sure that box in the trinus vr menu saying "PSVR DISPLAY" (the part under SBS) should say "///DISPLAY2" or something like that? when I click the drag down area for PSVR DISPLAY it just gives one option that says "---".
I will be making a troubleshooting video since it seems that there are a lot of questions. In the meantime, read through the comments and you will see solutions and fixes for common problems. Hope this helps...

When you go to "Display Properties" does Windows detect the headset as a secondary display?
What do you see in the headset? Does it give you an error message? Is everything running in admin mode?

A couple things to try... make sure you are sending your display over with the SHIFT + Windows + Left Key command, make sure your resolution dimensions match the headset (1920 x 1080) and make sure you are plugged in to your video card HDMI output (Not motherboard)
