  • Hello again! I hope you like this renovation episode from Italy. This time I'm doing another bathroom makeover with hand painted stencilled tiles, a DIY handmade timber bathroom cabinet or cupboard and lots of gardening on the farmhouse here in Tuscany while waiting for the paint to dry. fiori stencil would be magico but not too much, meandering over back bath wall and onto the end wall, like roses naturally do over walls, love the verde and your dulce vita together with Guido. One year ago, I left bella Italia, Umbria after 5 years resident, back to NZ with my due gatti italiani di Assisi countryside due to pandemic and my dulce vita interrupted...and not a day passes without missing my beautiful villa country home & garden with orto there. Finding your videos soothes my heart and soul... the elegance of life, culture, cuisine & art blended with toscana rusticana is a life of well being and endless beauty that you and Guido are such a joyful inspiration for all who dare to dream....even dare to live. Like you once so elegantly described, I never have felt at home with in the Antipodean sports mad culture and scorn for classics, art and renaissance beauty. I shall return....if only the historic halls of bereaucracy would have a 21st century renaissance! Grazie mille for all you do and share, Saluti, Sara and luca & luce

That orange pencil always brings tears to my eyes. We helped our dad build our childhood home when I was only about 5-6 ( I helped my sister carry cement blocks) anyways he marked everything with that pencil I still remember the scent of it. My dad passed away soon to be five years. When I go to Home Depot I always see it and it always bring the visual of my dad with it. I forgot What I watched of the video once I saw the pencil. Cherish these moments with your dad and mom.

it seems your love of Italy is greater than many Italians. The respect and consideration you have for Italian art, culture, history, cuisine, traditions lead me to think that you were born with the desire for knowledge and respect for other people and the polite and elegant way you have for all aspects of life make you a truly special person. Thanks for everything

I would really love to see Guido's fitness journey. I am on a similar journey myself. It would be great to get updates, and I think it would be so motivational. You and your father share that joy of creating in the details. When he said “very satisfying work”” is when I saw that connection. It is so satisfying to accomplish such projects. Frustrating and tiresome too (paintbrush falling off!, paint starting to harden!and the strenuous physical exertion) but I am so inspired by you Kylie. Your energy and persistence are some of your greatest assets. Now doing all this against the backdrop of lovely Tuscany! That is a reward in itself. It is absolutely beautiful. I live vicariously until I can get to Italy some day. God bless you. P.S. Green is tricky. It seems like nature gets it absolutely correct until you have to apply it in a man made situation. Green can be so industrial and unwelcoming in structures. I remember painting a kitchen “Apple green”. Fortunately it was a shade that gave us the feeling and look we were after. But a tinge grayer or bluer or more yellow could have been very disappointing. Your color is just perfect. P.S. I am watching this much later than original post date so now I can find out what stencil technique you decided on. 😄

I've stayed up to watch this and it was worth every second. I would love a series on Guido's fitness goals and especially including your recipes: the perfect combination. I can't believe your dad is going to be 77 as he looks so much younger. The bathroom is fab and the green has turned out well. I am voting for option 1, although I realise this may be the one which will create the most work, but it will be unique if you do some freestyling as well as using the stencils. Those steps are looking great and I hope the builders return soon. So looking forward to the update next week and seeing what your dad has created as well!

Wow! What a difference the winter light is there -- a cool blue light rather than the warm golden sunlight. Yay, Guido. We (your audience of thousands) is cheering for you. I'm trying to lose weight and get in shape, so you're inspiring me. Yes, Kylie, it would be great if you would share your recipes for the food you're feeding Guido at this time. It's so great that your parents have been there all this time to help you. You and your dad make a great team. You're going to miss them when they go back to Australia and they will miss you, and we will miss them, too. I can see who you get that beautiful thick head of hair from. It's hard to believe your dad will be 77. He's doing great. How convenient to get sheep's manure from the neighbor next door. I love the dinner bell! "Come and get it!" I've been wondering what you've been doing since we hadn't heard from you in a while. You were busy.

Oh my, what a monumental journey you are navigating to create such a magnificent home..... You are so blessed to have your so skilled/willing parents to help you. It is true, many people cannot see the potential outcome whether present in an empty room or one that is so cluttered one cannot see the floors or walls. The artistic eye simply sees beyond the moment's situation and creativity finds a beginning point and begins. There are no small tasks, are there? The one element that is essential is Love, working filled with love for what you are doing.

We have just purchased and spent our 1st 3 weeks in our vacation home in Northern Tuscany. I'm so happy to say we found the complete opposite to be true in calling on tradesmen. 2 young men from the Internet company were at our door 3 hours after the closing on the purchase and installed Internet on the spot and at a very reasonable price. The plumber had to come out 2 times and the electrician once and both were there within a few hours of the call. Neither of them would take any money at all. They gave us the bad news that we would have to replace the oven and washing machine. One inquiry to our realtor put us in contact with the local appliance store and a new oven and washing machine were installed at 9 o'clock the next morning and the installer only wanted €30! Realistically though I do understand it was the off season for tourists and maybe they didn't have that much work. I very much admire what you do as I as I myself am retired after a 20 year career in restoration of historic homes and general renovations. My advice to you is make sure you wear those gloves so your hands don't look 20 years older than the rest of you like mine do!

Yes. Weight, hypertension. Dieting now. I'm here for Guido. I have had hypertension issues for 15 years. Gained, lost and regained 50 lbs. In the process of shedding it again right now (in prep for my trip to Italy this Spring! I'm visiting because of the your inspiration. The beauty and cinematographically stunning work you create made me fall in love with Italy more and made me think seriously of retiring there. This Spring marks my first trip to explore possible areas to live.
What helped my hypertension the most was meditation. Esp transcendental meditation. Yes, I know we ALL have overly active mind. Me too. Tried to meditate numerous times. Took various classes and failed but I was able to be successful meditating this way (and LOVED IT). While doing my 2x daily mediation - after I had lost that 50 lbs - I was able to get my blood pressure down to a perfect level. Alcohol is sugar so the reduction or elimination of that will help. I am so impressed your Dr. suggested and you are tackling this so young! You got this Guido!

I think that Quido's story with weight loss will be very motivating for food lovers like me, regardless the gender or age. Just both of your fun and positive personalities make this whole experience much nore enjoyable. Not to mention how real you are and how real you make the world feel. With so much deception that goes around body image on social media it feels like we have forgotten what reality looks like. So for a young girl like me and as I am sure for many other people Quido's journey will be as motivating as it will be healing.

I think a magical solution to the pig building would be keeping it as a ruin [maybe strengthen/ stabilize what's left so it won't deteriorate more] and creating a "secret garden". Like inspiration from the book. A fairy tail garden with swings and climbing vines and fairy lights and just as magical as you can make it with the most beautiful views! You could have romantic picnics or set up a table. An area to read, meditation, just be or escape. A way to save the beauty of a ruin in its existing state. A real folly! Lol I can see in my head the videos you could make swinging with your hair and skirts flying on the breeze! A chance to let yalls planting go wild!

Again I hope your father is doing well he has been in my prayers. So sad to see your parents going home. Take care and see you all next Friday! 🙏🙋‍♀️♥️💞

Wonderful to see you back again........always a project going on.......Your Dad is amazing Kylie, I would never have thought he was going to be 77....which is obviously the new 60........the bathroom is going to be gorgeous, I would do the border and maybe a something on the wall but not covering the wall totally, that would be too much, maybe a nice. I’ve here and there..........can’t wait to see the cabinets your Dad builds........as far as Guido and his high blood pressure, yes he will have to be more careful about what he. eats, but there are many choices that he can look at if he really doesn’t like running , it isn’t for everyone and is very hard on the knees......he could get a rowing machine, a treadmill or a bike perhaps.........see you next week..........Donna in Toronto

I love it when you work together as a team and are genuinely yourselves. You work like me with a dozen projects going at the same time, pure and truly simple. I think the dark colour for the storage cabinet would be a nice match with the mirror. You are truly lucky to have a talented dad build it for you. I look forward to the next video with anticipation. Be well and love to you all.

Hello Kylie and Guildo. I personally would stencil in the middle. Gosh you are on a roll…. I am exhausted just watching you. I have been in love with that olive green colour for ages. I want my kitchen that colour. You have such a Hugh bathroom . What would compliment your new bathroom is a roll top 🛀 bath. Your doing a beautiful job…. Really inspiring to watch.
Like Guildo I have high blood pressure. I am over 50. I find learning to relax, switching everything off eg tv, radio, phone etc . And just focus on your breath going in and out .letting go being in the here and now. It’s just very gentle meditation. Works for me. And reducing salt in your diet helps.
Kylie I find when am painting or gardening I put my favourite music on… Really gives me a lift even if I get tired I don’t feel it, I feel energised. Best thing ever! Lol Jasmine 🥰

Kylie, you are the most industrious person. I doubt I would tackle painting/stenciling a bathroom and digging out steps on a hillside. You must inherit that from your father. Bless your parents for all their hard work. What a joy to have them there. Your enthusiasm is infectious!! I love option 2 best. Perhaps with a border around the perimeter of the floor only? You might try adding a pretty, washable rug by the sink or tub in the room. Yes also to Guido's fitness journey and would love to add some of your recipes to my collection. Can't wait for next week. XO

You have really good taste so I'm sure you'll pick the perfect wall decoration, BUT a mural going from the green tile to the white plaster wall would look very organic and lovely. You could have some vines trail up the corners and around the arches or something like that. No matter, it will be beautiful.

Option 1! It is so romantic and would make the room so elegant! You know you love a challenge! You can do it! You have inspired me as I settle in to a new apartment. I recently made some cafe curtains from an old sheet and today will add some trim to pretty them up a bit! They came out great even though I am not an expert sewer and they bring me joy that I made them!

I absolutely admire plant, leave and flower patterns together! They create width and warmth in the room I believe. With what we have seen you creating with your hands, art and intuition before, I have no doubt the outcome would be beautiful then too if you choose to paint some tiles freehand! And Guido's journey! Yes! I am already inspired,
    Have a beautiful weekend!

I think the roses/vines stencil would look beautiful in the bathroom. I admire you so much! You are a hard worker and have alot of imagination... Watching Guido trying his best to lose those few pounds is inspiring for "many" of us including me🤦. I need to lose a few pounds for my heart and high blood pressure too. I had to slightly stop drinking wine/apple martinis (lots of sugar) and less salt in what I eat. Salt is bad for high blood pressure. Tell Guido not to be embarrassed, we're all in the same situation as he is. Guido has inspired me to start jogging... 🤗. He's a great inspiration for all of us🤗. You're in great shape because you're always super busy and always on the move. Guido is a sweetheart. He trusts your taste in design. Whatever you touch, turns out beautiful!!! I have to say with all my heart, YOU'RE TRULY ONE OF A KIND KYLIE FLAVELL❤️. We can't wait for your next videos.
    Love you both❤️❤️❤️🤗

I like option 1. Since you wouldn’t be using the special paint on the wall ( right?) you wouldn’t be under the time constraints you have to work under with the tile paint and stencil plus you can bring in a little more color. You could do the base of the mural and add to it a little at at time. It’s beautiful as is in that room because of the wonderful ceiling so the mural will really bring your eye to that. Any of your choices will be nice though.😊

    • @KylieFlavell
      @KylieFlavell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Love murals 💚 this was a magnificent video, you are blessed in so many ways. Cherish every moment you enjoy your precious parents, lost daddy at 77.7 2003 , he was like your dad , he did everything, he owned the Worlds largest House Moving Company , 1950-1974 , Neatherlin House Moving , based out of Houston, Texas . Beautiful childhood , we 3 sisters had , could talk forever about that , DOB 1952 those were the good old days . I do have info I’d share with about the BP issue , natural of course, that’s another long amazing story , I too have high bp , so love sharing, looking forward to next Friday . Chow ☺️

Omg!! This is very interesting, seeing all the work you put into these projects is inspiring.
I was thinking about something I noticed. Mainly because you have touched on the subject, and that’s his drinking. I have been sober for 3 years now, and btw this is number 100 of the times it took me to get here. We can do so much to enrich the lives of other people but when it comes to trying to change other peoples habits that can be the downfall of it all.
    You are very ambitious 💪🏾🥰
But, to harness ambition, one must -take charge, be in “control”
And so it’s easy to be smothering with control.
Does any of this make sense? If it doesn’t don’t give it another thought. I have been concerned for you, you put everything you have , all that you are into this new amazing life. I want to to keep it sweetheart 🌈🥰
Maybe I am all wrong and I sound silly. Also who asked for my opinion 😂😂😂🥰

From one artist to another - I think Guido would find the floral too cute. I would do a simple contour line drawing in the white - of the view out the window. Extend to use the view you would receive if there were a window on each wall. Then you will feel like you are bathing in the open air. Love your work - always a breath of sunshine.

I vote for option 3, because as much as I love option 1, I feel like a full wall motiv requires some height in the room to not look "stuffy".
