@@Johnlindsey289 Well if I was writing the story, Jennifer Connelly would now be the Goblin Queen, as the story would follow Sarah's daughter dealing with something tragic in the real world like Sarah dying of cancer.

I see the age of resistance as something much bigger and subjective. I see it as a smaller company standing up against this big juggernaut that is Disney by showing that everything dosen't does not need to be super big and flashy in order to have warmth and depth in order to have a soul. Quite the contrary: In an age of overused CGI the henson company showed us what was almost forgotten and made it blow our mind like Disney haven't done in years in the same way.

I am 33 and grew up with The Dark Crystal playing repeatedly, the likes of said film and others with extensive practical effects such as the Never Ending Story shaped my creative mind and got me to where I am today, and it is just so extremely profound for me that this sequel exists, just grips at my core that I got to experience it.

I loved the Dark Crystal as a kid BECAUSE it was terrifying. And as an adult i have a whole new appreciation for the art form. I would love a season 2 or maybe even a dip into Labyrinth

First saw film when it came out in theaters at age 8. Blown away. Only scared by startling scenes or spooky moments, but I read somewhere that Henson himself said he didn’t think it was healthy for children to never feel scared. Anyway, I grew up in a small town in which hardly anyone else my age had seen the film or knew of its existence. That made me subconsciously feel like it was a dream, no matter how many times I watched it on VHS over the years. Fast forward to college (finding out more fans of the film existed!), the invention of DVDs, getting married, and having children of my own. I allowed my kids to watch the film with me when they were all old enough to follow the story. They loved it! And I felt like a father chef who shared a gormet recipe (you’ve gotta try this!) and being rewarded with approval. Now, nearly half a dozen years later, Netflix makes their announcement and I feel weak at the knees. A prequel? Series?? WHAT?!!?! (Please be good, please be good, please be good...)
As of this writing we still have two episodes left to go and I am blown away by the reaction of my children. They are hooked. They remember the characters’ names better than I can! They are affected by the deaths, betrayals, and desire to see good triumph. My fifteen-year-old even told me he doesn’t even see the puppets anymore. That are purely characters to him now. My heart rejoices for Jim Henson. So pleased and proud this was made. The Dark Crystal no longer feels like a private dream too embarrassing to share the next day.
By the way, did anyone remember Brian Froud’s son Toby was the baby in Labyrinth all those years ago?
