As it should. Florida went 10-1 during the regular season. It was this game that kept Florida from playing for a national title. With Miami and Washington finishing the regular season undefeated, Florida needed to go undefeated to play for one. Honestly blame the AD from Florida who scheduled this years ago. Shouldn’t have been on the road vs a good team right after a big conference game vs Alabama. Florida just had a let down.
How Florida lost this game is beyond me. Syracuse finished 10-2, but that included a 46-14 loss to FSU in Tallahassee. Had Florida won this game, they would have played for the National Championship.
Yeah ncaa would've put Miami in sugar bowl vs gators in a #1 vs #3 and 2 an 4 played in rose bowl so winner of canes gators still would've split with Washington! But I agree , only reason gators lost to Notre dame is because they played lack luster because Washington already won and Washington an Miami had to both lose so they were playing for nothing and it looked like it! Spurrier tried like 6 FGs that game ! Come on now?
Florida came into that game too full of themselves after beating a good Bama team 35-0. They weren’t focused. Sad, because they went undefeated in the SEC, and beat a good FSU team. It was this loss to Syracuse that kept them from playing for a national title.
Lps Layla T If Florida had beaten Cuse and were 11-0, I think they would have been #2 in the Sugar Bowl due to a better resume. Regardless of #2 or #3 they definitely would have played for a national title. Under Spurrier Florida played for two national titles, won one, but could have played for a few more. This might be the most annoying one to think about because it wasn’t FSU or a conference game that kept them from playing for one, it was a non conference road game that they didn’t have to play except for an AD deciding to schedule it years earlier.
As much success Florida has had in the past 30 plus years, there is a bit of cowardice in their non-conference scheduling. They were chicken to play Miami year in and year out, not going North for a while. Also they've never had a perfect season.
Cuse beat a lot of SEC powerhouses in the late 80's and 90's! LSU, Georgia, and Florida, tied Auburn (not our doing, lol) Never seemed to do well against FSU though. (I know, their in the ACC).
And y'all came within one point of beating the eventual national champion, Tennessee in the season opener in 1998. I hope things get turned around at Syracuse.
This is some pretty horrid announcing. Kept saying the time left in the game when it was actually the time left in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, and he called Harrison Houston Houston Harrison at least 5 times.
as a Gator fan this game still pisses me off 29 years later
As an SU fan , this game still puts a smile on my face 29 years later :)

Chris J your explaination makes it even sweeter. Fuck the gators
GDO What do you have against the Gators?
Chris J nothing really, so don’t take it personally. I’m just a fan of a team that constantly gets shit on on beat down. I tend to lash out/
The Carrier Dome is also known as The Loud House.
Nickelodeon and Syracuse partnership anyone?
@PockyCandy would you be able to make a highlight video of Kirby Dar Dar #42 RB from 1991-1994? Played for Syracuse
Although I love Syracuse as a Colorado fan I never want to see the Fiesta Bowl return again please.
This is the classic , "freeze option" , pass from the Marvin Graves era at SU , 11:00
Now that I look back, this team was a big influence on my eventual decision to attend Syracuse.

Carrier dome is not an easy place to play.
the last time Florida left the south for a non conference game....imagine that...and they got smoked.
Well, playing FSU and Miami (sometimes) on the road is not always a piece of cake. But point taken...
They were drunken from the week before they played Cincinnati what was the 50-3
Sadly...week before at Florida Field they shoutout #15 Alabama ..add to that in the series between UF and UA one of the most lopsided victories
@@tmarsh0307 Exactly Tim...UF had UM Miami on the annual schedule 1938-1987 I saw a few of those great rivalries post 1975

FSU was a independent till 1991.
