I saw my 1st G45 about 1954 at Alton Towers when they had a motorcycle short track there. I was riding an ex WD G3 at the time.

I remember a story about one of these. A guy approached a Matchless authority and said " I just bought a G45". " How unfortunate, says the expert ".

I don't know if anything has happened to Don, but please do as he did and thoroughly ride the bike giving a continual insight into it's merits. Although I enjoyed seeing the Matchless and hearing it (briefly), I sure would have enjoyed more riding of it. We in the audience have nothing more than a vicarious position here and love to see more involvement with the bikes. Yeah, I'm a critic, but I love these vintage bikes and the people involved with them, so keep the "vicarious" part in mind. Thank you.

Thanks for your comment Kyle. Sadly, the knowledgeable, charming and witty Don is no longer with us - he is greatly missed. We respect the 'vicarious' position and would like to up our pruduction values, but only have passion to finance our little films. However, we feel it is important to archive these historic machines and their well informed custodians.

I owned a 1953 G9 in 1960. My first bike. The previous owner had installed G45 style reverse cone mufflers - sounded fantastic at change-down from 4th at 60 mph!!!
