On 13 May 1935, Lawrence was fatally injured in an accident on his Brough Superior SS100 motorcycle in Dorset close to his cottage Clouds Hill, near Wareham. A dip in the road obstructed his view of two boys on their bicycles; he swerved to avoid them, lost control, and was thrown over the handlebars.[170] He died six days later on 19 May 1935, aged 46.
Can't put it down in words. Still I'll try. A bloody WORK OF ART, that beauty. Sunlight reflecting off the chrome... The thunder of the V Twin. Can't emphasise enough on how jealous I am of T E Lawrence. The fuel tank is just Wonderful!!
How can 17 people dislike this wonderful short?, to the point informing video , such and eloquent gentlemen, what is happening to people standards and values?????????
Now then... there is somethin in that hot tea and warm beer you boys drink over there, that produces the damnedest of vehicles on that small island. When y'all weren't busy circling the globe and plantin them union jack flags... Reckon the rest of you boys were a busy whittlin for the queen's eye and performance... these wonderful machines. You even got this old Texas boy ridin a 68 trophy sports since 72. -gilpin 12-26-15
Warm beer? I have heard that uttered with incredulity by so many Americans. The beer is not warm. The beer is normally stored in a cellar beneath the bar and is always cool. Never warm. Not as cold as draft Budweiser. I guess you already know this.
It is Beautiful ! Quality, something hard to find today. Everything is made to be re-cycled ! A motorcycle like that is for a lifetime of riding. It has sexy lines and curves everywhere !
He says it's not pretty. To me it's a perfectly proportioned motorcycle with a superb looking engine , parts and exhaust. It looks like it would be very reliable which in my opinion is one the most important things. I myself can't think of any motorcycle I would call pretty.
I had no idea the Brough Superior had a Matchless engine & a Norton transmission. This is the equivalent of what Crocker did in the USA. He took the best motorcycle parts available from Indian, Harley & other makes to make a better performing and generally more appealing stock motorcycle. Unfortunately, these motorcycles were practically custom made and of limited quantities so of course with high quality & a small population comes a high price tag. They were expensive then and are even more expensive now.
Periodically I revisit these vids. And I awalys enjoy them. Don you do an exceptional coverage of these machines. However, if I may say what is emitted from the exhaust is not "noise" it's sound. This maybe corny but for most of us it's music. 🏍️👍🏍️👍🏍️
One sold at auction for £268,000. Mark Upham, an English guy bought all the rights to Brough and the J.A.P. motor. He makes "new" Brough Superiors in Switzerland. They are hand made and will cost $250,000. They are better made as material and plating is far superior to the 1920/30s. One reached nearly 125mph on Bonneville flats.
Well no one can't complain about it coz it's Brit engineering, a 1930s British Engineering! Doesn't matter it's beautiful or not, it's Brit engineering so close your eyes and get it or love it..if you really love true motorcycle then you should love Brit bikes ..
wonder what year this was filmed? and what a bike coming from blighty myself and a former owner of a BSA 650 lighting. which is no where as pretty as this beast . i salute you sir!
It is a wonderfull motorbike, has nothing to gether with a bike they say: It's a plumpers nightmare :-) Wundervolle englische Motorräder, vielen Dank für das Video.
In 1980 a friend of mine who I worked with (Richard Brandon Nr Royston uk) had a garage (approx 10 per more) of old unrestored bikes. I was 19 at the time and we rode his Brought Superior up the road and back. Anyone know of Richards whereabouts? They were a maverick family but hugely interesting. Richard and I worked in Baldock as technical illustrators.
A friend of mine had one with a an original side car , The tubing connecting the side car to the bike acted as additional fuel tank . I don't know whether this was a standard fitting supplied by the manufacturer or had been added as an extra.
The main frame of the sidecar was a continuous 2" diameter tube which had a filling point at the top and a tap low down at the rear. Attach a tube to the tap, feed this to the tank and pressurise the system via a schraeder valve at the filler to force the fuel into the tank. A Brough innovation.
Nope, most Broughs had nickel plated tanks. Stainless steel tanks were indeed used, but for a very short time - they were too difficult and time consuming..
Buck Wheat Buck, As an owner of a Brough Superior take my word for it that the tank is chrome not stainless steel. It was possible to spec. a stainless steel tank as all Broughs were hand made to the buyers spec. but very few were stainless steel, generally they were chrome and underneath they are steel. This tank in the video is chrome.
This is just the kind of narration we want on a Brough Superior. TE. Lawrence could not have done it better. Nice work Don.
For me there is no more beautiful motorcycle in this world. For the driver a long life and many beautiful rides .
My favourite ever motorcycle. The fact they were made in my hometown just makes it that bit sweeter. Beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful, love to own one...
Ditto that.
I m from Belgium !! what a great pleasure to hear you sir !!
Thanks for listening
That's one of the most beautiful motorcycles i've ever seen.
T.E. Lawrence called Broughs "the joliest things on two wheels ". Superb!!!

I have to say that these videos are as admirably constructed and enjoyable as the machines they depict.
☑️💯
I think having a British accent is mandatory for owning a Brough Superior.
A real Gentleman on a magnificant Bike!

IMO, this is the most beautiful vintage motorcycle ever.
What a wonderful machine. I wish I had the ability to own one. I would ride the wheels off that thing!
Can't put it down in words. Still I'll try. A bloody WORK OF ART, that beauty. Sunlight reflecting off the chrome... The thunder of the V Twin. Can't emphasise enough on how jealous I am of T E Lawrence. The fuel tank is just Wonderful!!

Yes, indeed.
those two just belong together.

Superior in every way.
My father had the one with a bronze head
My Grandad had one of these, with sidecar. When he died in the late 50's Gran sold it for £25!!!!
That's more heartbreaking than the stories of spouses selling off gun collections. My condolences for both of those losses.
LAWRENCE of Arabia. Came here for him

IT HAS NICE SOUND..
Not only beautiful but the quality was superb,
It's still so
初めてブロフシューペリアの発音を聞いた。
THERE WAS ONE OF THESE IN THE BACK OF MY GARAGE WHEN I MOVED IN . THE OLD BLOKE DIED AND LEFT IT . I MAY DO IT UP ONE DAY .
The most aesthetically pleasing motorcycle in the history of organized man....
Yes, it's very beautiful
awesome love it
beautiful bike
you know were can I buy one of this?
Best motorcycle
Lawrence did have a lot of Broughs because he traded them in every 18 months on the latest version.
Graeme Williams he (Lawrence) had 7 of them !!
A jolly bright day, what
The name "Superior" says it all.
The Vincent is a better bike !!
Interesting how much like modern V-twins it sounds. The more things change....
It is a v twin !! The more you write the dumber you look !!
Senior I think the meant that it still sounds familiar with modern v twins.
DUUU It's a v-twin and they all sound alike !! It doesn't matter when it was made !!
Senior Frog it's not the same with every type of engine, old single cylinder air cooled two strokes sound different compared to modern two strokes
But not a modern V-twin, quarter-wit.
wow awesome
Thanks 🤗
that is a 100% pure british accent
Absolutny Nr 1 !
Magnifique!
Old young boy
Just one thing: The tank is actually stainless steel. Apparently Brough was not a fan of chrome or nickel.
