Incredibly multi- talented and witty... sure... What's more...She never gave up on her dreams, was proud of her children, MGM career, friends, audience... never regretted anything... She was at times sad about her mother, at times about her husbands' silly ways... But first off as a huge loving persona and grand artist, a classy dame she always started criticizing someone... very rarely indeed... from herself. Hardest working entertainer ever lived and magnificent singer larger than life... the rest is history... Please mind that fame and grand careers always go hand in hand with pain and hardships. Judy simply didn't know... nobody knew those days... that taking sleeping pills might have been fatal... My opinion anyway... RIP... in Heavenly Peace dear Judy !
She was 18/19 years old when this was made. Insane. She was born to perform. I read reviews of her performances when she was under 10 and the reviewers raged about her talent. Her voice cuts through that entire choir of singers like the sharpest knife through hot butter. Awesome.
Though my siblings and I have photos of this movie, my sister just discovered this jewel of a clip! Our Dad, Fred Smith, who is no longer with us was one of the choir boys. Judy Garland was something special, but seeing our Dad’s adorable face in this movie warms our hearts to no end❤ We love you Dad❤❤❤❤
Peak of her beauty, are you kidding? She was just getting started. She's quite pretty here, flat out drop dead gorgeous in films like Meet Me In St. Louis, The Harvey Girls, The Clock, Easter Parade and In The Good Old Summertime.
Judy is so beautiful here. I just saw her placed at #36 in a 50 most beautiful actresses of that time. In my book she should be #1 but no less than in the top 10. Talent wise she tops all of them.
good god you can still hear her voice even with all those people there, and when she hit that high note at the end i wondered if she was holding back even here
This song (wonderfully and powerfully delivered by Judy Garland) from WW2 ties in perfectly our own on going war in present day and has just as much meaning and poignancy right at this minute as it did in 1941. Covid isn't going away any time soon - but we won't give up!
I remember watching this the morning my grandpa died. It was on TCM way back in 2004. Seeing this number takes me back to what I was feeling then, sitting alone, trying to process the news.
Thank you for the gem like that with Judy. I think I should think it over. I mean some kinda purchase of a brand new hardware and software.... I'd love to watch Warner Archive at any cost. Wish me luck. Cheerio !
Eu não tenho palavras para descrever o quanto Judy Garland estava LINDA nesse filme. Eles não puderam ou ousaram falar que ela era “feia” ou “errada” ela estava e era linda. Descanse em paz Judy 🕊️
The little girl in the black hat to the left of Judy... she knows that as one of the English children she is supposed to look sad and tearful, but she can't stop looking at Judy and smiling.
It was a little nudge for a growing American public's acceptance of WWII involvement...England getting bombed nightly, on the edge of Nazi occupation, Churchill doing all he could to get the MIGHTY USA to give Hitler a punch back. Movies back then became a way to sway the public, in the beginning Americans knew very little of how evil Hitler was or was becoming. We just wanted to stay out of "Europe's war" Thank God the right call was made, and credit to Ol Winston for his tenacity & boundless determination
Did she sing live for this or you think she sang with a recording? Would be very impressive if she could sing that great while projecting through the choir
Since most if not all movie singing was lip-synced by this point, I imagine she had pre-recorded this. But she had no doubt pre-recorded it *with* the chorus, so she still had to out-sing them.
people calling judy garland "so beautiful" in this and wondering why the studio was so cruel to her completely miss what they're saying. the studio wanted her to look like this. they became cruel when she got off the drugs and ate what she wanted and stopped being slim like this. so saying she's beautiful is exactly what the studio wanted.
@@eddieg2828 ok well if she wasn't starved and was allowed to be comfortable with her body, would people love her so much, or was her suffering to achieve the "standard of beauty" (which lead to her tragically early death) necessary in order to be loved?
@@sannev8407 they forced her to look like this with drugs or else they'd fire her. she died when she was 47 due to a drug overdose. there is something wrong with not acknowledging that this is the studio mandated judy people are praising.
She was so gorgeous and so incredibly talented...it pains me to think about all the horrible things she went through

The loss of her father may have been the worst thing of all for her. Because after that she truly felt alone.
She sure was a beautiful girl and that voice! She was my first crush! I couldn’t wait for TCM to show her movies on her birthday!
Same here!
She wouldn't want you to focus on the bad; she never did.

Long Gray Line Well Said!
Indeed.
No one can compare.
She did a pretty mean version of La Cucaracha in 1936! My parents had all her records.
I couldn't agree more. ❤

Judy at the peak of her beauty here tops all other actresses in Hollywood at the time.
I second that emotion.
Liza Elliott
100% agreed.
How could any Director or anyone call her ugly
Beautiful Rip

I placed she ever at #1! For ever! #2 was for me ever Hatti McDaniel.
Judy is so gorgeous here. Her voice and wonderful movie presence will live on forever. We love her. Rest in peace, dear Judy.

She was so beautiful with a voice of an angel.....just adore her!
I like how Virginia Weidler says. You should see her. She's beautiful.❤
Fact!
80 years on this song is a masterpiece sung by a beautiful woman.
She was so pretty.
RIP Judy.😢 such an inspiration you were and always will be.
The beautiful Judy Garland sings this song perfectly!
THIS is the song in the Corona-desaster-times! Thank you, one more, dear Judy!
This has been my source of happiness and motivation today! Judy was a gem, and such a subtle patriotic/national icon.

This is one of my favorite songs!
Love you Judy.
Yes love you Judy
shes darling :)
She must be one of God's best singers up there in heaven.
Gold. Absolute gold.
Absolute emotion! What a voice! Merci beaucoup from Paris France and take care.
Judy Garland e sua voz inconfundível! Amo vê-la cantando, atuando... Sua voz e sua atuação me remete a coisas tão boas..
ela era uma artista completa ♡
So inspirational
Sophia Hudson This is my favorite movie
Laura Corbett It’s my favorite too!
My favorite actor in this movie is Richard Quine who does Hammy
Chin up, cherrio, carry on!
Linda Judy.

makes you tear up
Whew! Bravo!
Poor Virginia Weidler died at only 41 years old.
40000 views should be at least a million

She actually did a good job
The girl in the black hat Judy did good to though
That sort of patriotism from Hollywood is inconceivable today.
no it's not
This should be the Cova 19 theme song
There were no Busby Berkeley effects here!
Baby your so cute sweet and specially you're beautiful😍💝
3:41.... Till all are one.
come on warner I want a blu ray 😢
❤❤❤❤
I love this movie and I love Richard Quine who does Hammy in this movie and who was a director
I wonder how many insiders knew we’d be involved in that war by the end of that year.
The cabal who created it knew.

idk but they said from a different song of judy she was a great lip syncher.

Does anyone know where I can find a karaoke track for this song
Does anyone know who the brunette lady is at the start of the clip?

Judy loved being the STAR. It was what she was known *for and she F$@*king deserved it. Don't take that away from her.
She loved doing this. Perform on stage. There's nothing wrong with saying she looks and sounds stunning here because this is what she loved to do

Why this very english song in a Hollywood film?
