  • This video kindly taken by Gordon Mackenzie highlights the beautiful and ground-breaking 3D printed Gloster Meteor F.Mk.4, designed, built and flown by my friend Phil Bendeich.
As you can see, Phil has done an extraordinary job bringing the Meteor to life, in probably the first ever fully 3d printed version of this classic British jet. The complexities involved in getting a twin EDF scale model like this from thought bubble to flying model are not insignificant, and I have been delighted to follow along as Phil has turned this dream into a reality!
The model airborne is extremely reminiscent of the full-size, and a real tribute to Phil's design skills. The 50mm twin X-Fly EDFs on a pair of 1500mAh x 4S packs sound SO quiet and give the model an extra aura of authenticity.
Phil has most generously made the construction files for the Meteor free to download from Cults3D here:

beautiful representation of the Gloster meteor,I may consider this myself as a future project and we'll post if I do so.
I remember these starting up on the runway as an air cadet visiting an air force base in the 70`s and a flight mechanic told us they started with like big cartridges.
