40 years ago I purchased a 68 50w marshall plxi of all my marshalls it's the One I use a selection of overdrive pedals buy it does supriseing great cleans to something people don't appreciate about plxi amps my road amp is an old jcm 2000 never broke down on me and great for metal and a 50w 900 great recording amp cheers !
I love the EVH 5150III EL34 50 watt head. I changed the red channel tube. I think V4 to 5751 to drop the gain to a more usable range. The only thing I would change is put washers to tighten up the cocentric pots and other knobs to not be so loose.
TTK - Catching the replay over coffee!🤘🏻☕️👍🏻That SD-3 might be a good replacement to the Boss Super Chorus in a W-D-W set. Can’t wait for the demo!!🤘🏻🎸👍🏻🔊
I always prefer playing amps over modelers but I know that loud tube amps are very inconvenient for most situations. I have a 5150 Iconic that I run on 1/4 power and I'm running the gain channel volume between 2 and 3 for at home playing
Even then, the 5150 Iconic ins't a tube amp per say, it only has a tube power amp section with the preamp section being the circuit of the MXR 5150 overdrive pedal : the only good side of this, is that you won't ever need any preamp tube in your amp.
@@hellboundTX333 You obviously lack some basic reading skills : the two 12ax7 you are referring to, are NOT part of the tone stack, neither does the amp has a phase inverter, and you know why ? Because the actual preamp is the MXR 5150 pedal, the 2 ecc83 are only on the circuit for the send and return's effect loop, and thus they will not wear out, like a typical preamp tube would......if there was an actual tube tone stack and phase driver on this amp. In other words this is a solid state/op amp preamp with a tube power amp section, that has an (shitty) effects loop
Happy we had a show tonight . Where are the demos ? Plenty of new stuff that came out. Used to love your demos. Ever think about showing your Kiesel and Evh guitar collection? Great show tonight!!
I've been on a backorder list for a Marshall 6 way footswitch for over a year. Manufacturers having a problem with supply chain issues?!! WTF?!! I was told Marshall's new management wants to only dedicate 10 percent of the company to Amplifiers. They think Bluetooth speakers is where the moneys at?!! That's the future of Marshall. Jim Marshall is spinning in his grave!
From what I hear Marshall will be releasing a bunch of guitar amps that we will probably like a lot. The Studio series have done pretty well recently as well.
If the latest owners of Marshall are only willing to support the amplifier division at the bare minimum, I would hope someone with deep pockets that has a passion for music and playing guitar would take it over.
So having a good DEI rating has something to do with loans, getting boost ahead of other companies. When a company is looking for investors it was one way to go to the head of the line
Because their core audience can’t be arsed with heavy amps any more and kids are just fine using amp modellers that are a fraction of the size and weight
Bummer those people suck try to talk on the phone with those knuckleheads ya can't get a straight answer I paid for a guitar they back ordered it for 6 months but kept stringing me along got my money back Never Again !
Its a shame marshall are going down the gurgler but its easy when they havnt actually had a new idea since bout 2007 with the JVM..... Now they just seem like gibson re issues and relying on their past glory.... Ive recently bought a full laney rig and what a game changer ....after 25 years my JCM800 is basically retired
Marshall unfortunately stopped developing and stepped sideways having other crap branded Marshall. They should focus on what made their brand great and improve. Hope it's not too late.
They've been dying since 2008 as far as I see it. It started with Blackstar taking their lunch with the Artisan series (which they should've continue to develop!), Metropoulos was big at the same time, and then Friedman stole the lunch of every Marshall style amp brand afterwards. Marshall failed to create new and interesting products, failed to keep up with the competition and made a terrible choice in leaning in on trying to be a "lifestyle brand". It's really a damn shame
interesting stuff.. 5 % of 400 millions is still 20 millions. You have to remember the amps they make are for guitar players only , while their bluetooth speakers are for everyone.. so of course they sell more.. How much did marshall earn back in the day when their focus was amps only? Friedmann earnings according to google is 2.7 mill.. Engl 1-5 Mill.. Neural DSP Technologies is $30.7M
Economics is the driver! There has been an agenda dating back to the disco era to destroy rock! Marshall Amps were designed for live rock shows so the decline in true live rock bands yields a decline in the need for loud live amps! Bedroom guitar heroes and content creators do not provide enough amp turnover for Marshall to increase amp production. Can you imagine if we had a 100 new rock live bands that were successful year over year? Wishful thinking on my part!
Marshall Amplification died with Jim Marshall IMO. They're now a woke corporate owned entity. I'll always love the vintage stuff built in a different time and era...

I have a 1959HW and a Friedman Plex. The Marshall is a thousand times better.
I like Friedman but Friedman's are a neutered Marshall with more gain.
@@rocknrollresignation93 true. Way too stiff
No note separation
True about saturation listen to van Halen his tone was pretty clean so when he was shredding you can hear every note !

OTHERS are making Marshall type amps, IF the big M goes down/away, OTHERS will make that style of amp!
Great show! Where did you get the decibel reader? I’m trying to find one

The Marshall logo is probably worth more than selling new amps.

Innovate or go extinct. Marshall amps have half assed every new amp since the 900's.
