  • Just had my old Road 5 tyres replaced with the new 6s on my Tiger 900 by BTD Racing in Thrapston, Northants. These are my initial thoughts on the new ones and how they compare to the old model. No crazy lean angles yet as the tyres ere still new! 😅 I will do another update after a few hundred miles.

    I have one on my gsxr 1000, great tyre,i wait to see how much km it runs! Top speed and a lot of curves:)

    Road 5 absolutely transformed my bike. Originally had Battlax S20 and they were horrendous.
    Looking forward to getting Road 6 when they need replacing.

      Seems that a lot of OE tyres are dreadful! But I am genuinely pleased with how well these 6s are performing so far. They are amazing!

    I fitted Road 5's on mine last year. WOW, what a difference it made to handling. No more tramlining, handles superbly wet or dry. I should have changed the OEM Metzeler rubbish from day 1

      Yep, you just can not beat these Michelin Roads! I've had every incarnation of them from the very first Pilot Road and never been disappointed!

    Totally agree, but I was told that michelin did not provide road 6 for the gt pro. So I had metz 01s fitted. Will try to see if my local tyre place do some sort of trade in for the un used tourance tyres?

      It’s a slightly different profile on the front to standard which is why Triumph dealers won’t fit them. Just go to an independent tyre fitter instead! 👍🏻

    I am wondering what the sizes of your new tires are. For the front tire, the Road 6 doesn't seem to come in the OEM size of 100/90. Did you go with a 110/80? I'm also looking at Road 6 to replace the OEM Metzeler on my Tiger 900 GT Pro. Thanks for the video!

    • @ukveganbikers
      @ukveganbikers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you have to swap to a 110/80. Worth noting that most Triumph dealers will not fit them because of the different size, so you’ll have to go independent.
      Many, many owners of 800s and 900s have done the swap though, so there isn’t any issue with fitment.

      @@ukveganbikers ah, thanks, good info. I quite dislike the metzelers and looking to change.

      @@tailwheel65 agreed, and most owners seem to agree too. Road 6s proper make this bike handle like it should!

      I'm so relieved to see this video - I hate the Metz that it came with and have wanted to use Road 6 but didn't think you could. Great news that you've proved you can 👍

      I was coming to ask the same thing! Since they didn't have the right front tire size, I just went with the anakee adventures, still great Michelin performance!

    Question; I've got a 2023 Triumph Tiger 900 GT LRH. I would like to change my tires to the Michelin 6's but they only make them in a 110/80-19. The front tire from the factory is a 100/90-19 Metzler Tourance, which I really dislike, although I've got over 8000 miles on the tires. Can you safely run the 110/80-19 on the tiger wheels without messing up ABS or other electronic aids?

    • @ukveganbikers
      @ukveganbikers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I’ve done about 14k miles with that profile now with no issues. Many other Tiger owners do the same because of the poor standard tyres. The only issue you will find is that your Triumph dealer likely won’t fit them due to the different profile front, so you’ll have to get them fitted at an independent shop.

      @@ukveganbikers Thanks for your response. I guess that's the way I'll go. I was really worried about the electronics. I wrote to Triumph and of course their response was to use only the size recommended. They wouldn't say if it would be a safety issue which frustrated me.

    Also... I notices you have after market handle bar ends installed. Did you do that for protection or vibration reduction?

    • @ukveganbikers
      @ukveganbikers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did it for both protection and to help counter vibrations, but it doesn’t make a massive difference to the vibes. One thing that should help is to fit grip puppies over the grips.
