Fantastic video, you provide all the information I like to have when making a decision about whether to go on a hike or not. Thank you. We also share a love for the Rae lake basin, I have accessed this area from Kings canyon, Sequoia, and Onion Valley on the Eastern side all three entrances provide different experiences with the same payoff in the middle.
Once again, amazing hiking info and video is the standard for Hike Oregon! I'm an Oregonian and wasn't aware of some of these locations. Way cool! Once again 1000% awesome, detailed and very useful hiking/getting out there info!
@@HikeOregon I'll bet it is a little worrisome seeing steam rising from an active volcano. Especially after the devastation the last major eruption caused.
Gorgeous hikes. You've inspired me to hike more this year. The Sierras have the most beautiful scenery you've ever seen, and you've hiked in the Alps? Wow that is saying something. The most beautiful place I've ever been to are the national parks in the Canadian Rockies; I wonder how the hiking there would compare...you'd have to deal with grizzlies though.
I’ve hiked in Alaska, so grizzlies don’t scare me that much. You just have to be prepared. I would not to hike in the Canadian Rockies. Sounds epic!!!!!! And yes, the Sierra Nevada are much more epic than the alps in my opinion.
Man I can not wait to come back to Oregon and finally try out more hikes from this video and your book! I'm so excited 🥰 thank you for this wonderful video ☺️
The Sierras are amazing. My all-time favorite as well .however Highly recommend if you haven’t been, hiking Zion, Bryce and Arches national parks. And Kanarra Falls in Kanarraville Utah. An awesome slot canyon hike.
It’s awesome! If you research it online you won’t find the loop that goes around the whole mountain, you’ll find a 20-something mile loop that just takes you along the East side of the peak. Just use the topo make and connect the trails yourself. The west side doesn’t receive a lot of maintenance so there are trees down from the wind storm in September but the lakes and solitude there are incredible.
@@HikeOregon We binged many of your videos, that one included! We are in NC in the spring and CO in summer... thinking early September. We don't like to travel to over crowded places or 'popular' spots, although we have. Trying to get more quiet, off the beaten path Adventure. More fringe season visits. We don't mind cold. Hahaha
I did most of the John Muir trail about seven years ago. And when I got to the Rae lakes area I saw a complete circle rainbow in the sky. I’ve never experienced that before. PS Rae lakes is in California though.
This video isn’t called top 15 hikes in Oregon. It’s called Hike Oregon’s (aka Me) top 15 hikes of 2020. I do one of these videos every year and often they include hikes from bordering states.
Cougar reservoir didn’t burn in the 2020 fire at all but the road is currently closed because they are still cleaning up tree damage from the wind storm.
Hi you are great I am from Europe i have no clue where these places are so i have to lookup them one by one to compare how to get tgere, or in under one trip eg 7-10days can i visit more than one of these places and in what kind of order. Are these national parks? All wish entering fee+ if you camp is that fee too? please include such info in our videos
You can see links to where you can find info about each hike in the video description. I put all the info like entrance or parking fee, location, directions, etc. in my hiking write-ups either on my website or hiking guidebooks.
There are lots of women only hiking Facebook groups. I highly recommend checking them out and meeting friends. That is how I met all of my hiking friends who are now the best friends in the world.
Hi First I’d say that I just love your Videos. . I have just a quick question for you since you are familiar with OR, WA area. I am looking for a 25-35 miles loop trail for myself and my 13 years old son, we are both in great shape and can easily hike more than 12 miles per day I was looking at: Timberline Trail Around Mount Hood Broken Top Loop Trail Do you have any other recommendations?
The Timberline Loop is tough, lots of elevation gain and loss and it is right around 40 miles. Broken Top loop is great and there are lots of different options if you want to make it longer. Enjoy.
This video is not Top Hikes in Oregon. It’s Hike Oregon’s (my) favorite hikes from 2020. While my brand is called Hike Oregon because my website is an Oregon hiking resource, even there I have some southern WA hikes and will have some northern CA hike write ups and info as well. On the TH-cam channel I enjoy showcasing all the beauty of the outdoors and the Rae Lakes Loop happened to be my favorite trip from this past year.
Its because of you and videos like this, that Oregon is getting so trashed. Stop trying to make money off our great outdoors and keep these places to yourself. If people want to find nice places to go, let them do the work.
This is just giving people ideas on where to go. They’ll still have to do research on the hikes either in hiking guide books, maps or on websites. Trust me, the time it takes to make a video like this is not worth the pennies I make off of it. I most definitely don’t do it for the money.
I understand and can sympathize with the motivation behind this comment, but I think it fails to be consistent with reality. It is rare to just stumble upon a good hiking location, and to "do the work" we all look to books, guides, apps, maps, etc. and generally speaking SOMEONE is making money off of those sources. The internet makes it easier to find locales but that's just the way it is. Be it TH-cam, blogs, webpages, etc. the information is out there now. Further, I don't think the people who seek out hikes on channels like this are the types to trash a place - especially not if they pay attention to HO's videos. I think maybe you just want these places all to yourself (which I get!) but as I have to remind myself, it's pretty selfish to limit trails only after you've discovered them. ;)
I hear you but this isn't like someone disclosing a secret fishing spot or an off trail route to an unpublished cove, these are all known spots that are just grouped here. Might as well write an angry letter to William Sullivan while you are at it
This is ridiculous, these hikes are meant to be available to the public. People going out of their way to look for hikes like this are people who are going to cherish the trails they’re on. Plus “Oregon is getting so trashed” where?
Fantastic video, you provide all the information I like to have when making a decision about whether to go on a hike or not. Thank you. I can’t wait to go back, next time from the eastern side. Better drive too :)
Wow, awesome year! Can't wait to see all new adventure 2021 brings!

Great video happy 2021👌🏼
Happy new year and thanks so much for watching the video!
Wonderful trails. St. Helens has been on my bucket list for just about ever. If nothing else then just to be surrounded by the history.
Helens is a pretty incredible hike. And slightly scary seeing steam rising from the crater.

@@HikeOregon Thanks for the info - I have a topographic map of the area and will check that out. Looking to do this in early August 2021.
Rae Lakes Loop is fantastic. The Sierra's are beautiful and make you work for every step, but are well worth it.
most definitely!
Been following your Instagram account for a while and finally stumbled across your TH-cam channel. Absolutely love it and will refresh on your videos!
Aw thanks!!
Fun stuff as always

love all of your vlogs.

A small tarn up by Broken Top.
Have you been back to the lookout near Cougar Reservoir since the fires?
You had me inspired to trek up there, but I imagine it's all gone now
