- What is romantic love? How can we attract the right partner? And what can we do to make romantic love last? A questioner raises these age-old questions around love just in time for the Valentine’s Day celebrations.
Rupert says that love is the recognition that we are the same being. The love we feel for our intimate companions, our families, our friends, the people that we don't know and the people that we dislike is the same. But the way we express that love varies.
Friendship is a particular expression of that love. And a romantic relationship is a form of friendship that is expressed on more levels than just a regular friendship. Obviously, sexual intimacy is a large part of that. But the love is the same.
The best way to identify a partner for yourself would be to look for someone in whom there was very little sense of lack and the best way to make yourself very attractive to a potential partner, would be to reduce the sense of lack in yourself. Free yourself from the sense of lack and you'd be surprised how the universe will respond to you. You're inviting the universe to appear to you in the form of someone who will appreciate this absence of lack in you.

@@joajoajb This anti personal stance is simply a personal view and is therefore a personal preference from a lot of theachers that say that the personal is false and non or impersonal is true .In my view the personal and the impersonal are one and the same(there is no division in consioussness) therfore there isnt any duality . You can offcourse say that my view on non-duality or advaita is wrong and your and your theachers view is the one that is true . But without the personal no one is right or wrong about anything (including non duality/advaita) because there is no one there to be right or wrong about anything. ......in other words how do "you" know what is true or false if there is no "you" to discern what is true and what is false?

I don't like attract anyone. When I am fulfilled, some people get jelaous, the other desire me as if my smile had to do anything with them. And this is not about them, thus comes from my heart. I don't need, or want get involved in any relationship and I don't consider a romantic relationship to have any value. This is only making people miserable.

Love is the love we feel for all beings; friendship is love plus character commonality; romantic love is love with lust, and possibly character commonality.
In my experience, romantic love has nothing to do with lust or sex. Please don’t forget that there is a huge community of asexual and romantic people. 🌷

I'm wondering how important it is to also be physically attracted to someone? I've met a guy who's conscious awareness is very appealing to me, and I love discussing existence with him and the soul's evolution, yet there is not that physical pull for me other than the body's need to be touched and held.....
I’m so very curious how has your relationship turned out with this person? I’ve met someone recently and we’ve grown close, but she actually is upset she doesn’t feel that sense of romantic love. She was Lesbian before me, but changed because of our union and has a built expectation of what that romantic feeling is. I would like to be romantic with her but we are both learning how.

Trying to express my understanding of Rupert with my own words I would say that all love (including romantic love or even hate!)in the Universe is a manifestation of the impersonal love called ANANDA. in the same way that all objects take its apparent “existence” from SAT and all that is conscious, take its consciousness from CHIT

So love is inclusive (I agree), but romance is exclusive? You haven’t defined romance, would you say it’s the materialisation of love for the selective persons you like/meet? If yes, would you say it’s a misconception that romance is exclusive to courtship? Isn’t it romantic that we hold the door for the next person(stranger)? If not, then what is that? It can’t be just love since you defined it as an acknowledgment, not an action.
Romance, love etc can’t truly be defined. Everyone had there own interpretation of love and romance. Is sending a card to a friend on there birthday romantic as you’d equally do the same to a romantic interest… romantic love is dangerous really because it’s not fully understood and it’s based upon feeling which are fleeting. Worth the risk but wary of the pain that is involved. Sex is and forever will be overrated imo and may not be worth indulging as you can hurt or be hurt from it. Romeo and Juilett is a perfect example as to why romantic relationships shouldn’t be pursued…

It sounds like a sense of lack is more serious than low self-esteem? Is it unworthiness of which Rupert speaks?
Low self esteem comes from a lack within oneself- "im not good enough.. smart enough etc".
Lack can be in overall mindset - " i need someone to be happy. My life is not happy without a partner etc"
I think romantic love is rooted in sex. Sex is what distinguishes romantic love from other forms of love. We don't feel romantic love for parents or siblings or same-sex friends (unless we're homosexual) or ugly people. We feel romantic love for people whom mother nature deems to be evolutionarily attractive to us. It's the possibility of sex that activates romantic feeling. That's how I see it.
Romantic love is what makes men happy and women bitter, miserable and exploited.
The best way to find a Romantic partner without any sense of Lack/who is full of nature is to attend Rupert Sessions❤
