Thank you for this video! We have corrected the Help Center issues you highlighted by updating the FAQ pages. You CAN use the included adapter, as it does work with most computers. However, if the adapter is not working for your system, please remove it as part of the troubleshooting process.
Additionally, some computer systems seem to work well with a good powered USB hub, so we have changed the information on the Help Center page. Thank you for alerting us to this needed edit.
As for the encoder issues and MIDI/MCU bugs you have highlighted, we have forwarded this video to our engineering team. We will update you once we receive their reply.

It may be the case the USB adapter works with most computers. I may be wrong in this but in my experience many people cannot use adapters. Perhaps people only have been talking about the older product line and in that case I should retract my statement, but for me attest I cannot use the adapter.
Thank you for letting us know that you have forwarded this information. I believe it is crucial to regain and keep trust/interest.

@@mix-in I would advise to tread carefully with any so called universal controller. They will all present you with inconsistencies that will take you away from actually being productive. Unless you are hell bent on having a controller then my only suggestions would be 1. Any Avid Pro Tools controllers running Pro Tools as they use a different protocol and are designed and written to work with Pro Tools or...
      2. Presonus faderport 8 or 16 using Studio One as your DAW as that controller is also written specifically for Studio One. These are the only controllers I'm aware of that actually work hand in hand with their respective DAW's as I've worked with them in the past and offer workflows where you don't have to worry about the controller acting up. Every button does exactly what it's intended to do. There's no guesswork.
Those controllers can still be used with other DAW's but will not be fully functional and will behave erratically. Just like universal controllers.
Take note that the UF8 has no dedicated transport controls and still have to play around with mapping etc... If getting things done is a priority and you want a controller to help you then I suggest Avid Pro Tools eco system (using eucon and Pro Tools DAW) or Presonus Studio One DAW with a Faderport 16. I think softube control surfaces go hand in hand with Logic but I have no experience with them.

Sorry you're dealing with these issues.
I was very close to purchasing the P1-M and screen and my research into the company showed me that their customer support is pretty abyssmal. The dealbreaker was finding out they never bothered to made an Apple Silicon updater although it seems that was unwarranted given your sucess with updating in the video.
I ended up splurging on an SSL UF8 instead and i've been super happy.
A few of your complaints like the metering issues i believe are inherent limitations of the MCU protocol and something I see on the SSL controller when using MCU. While I do use MCU for some functions, the fact that SSL provided their own mixer layer than integrates with the DAW which fixes a lot of MCU issues that seem universal (like wonky metering, not shifting focus on the controller when selecting a track in the DAW, and a number of other issues) and the controller makes it super easy to flip between MCU mode and the SSL 360 mixer mode.

    • @mix-in

Thanks for sharing! Some or most of these issues, i have happening with the old Pro G2, especially the drag in the jog wheel when scrolling. My guess that its an apparent software issue rather than the controller itself. Unfortunately, im leaning towards a presonus fader port and maybe a loupdeck/stream deck to handle the macros.

Thank you for this video; I'm sure it took you a lot of time. I was close to considering upgrading my DAW controller, as I'm currently using an old Mackie Control Universal Pro. Icon controllers are indeed feature-rich and good-looking, but they are also known to be quite buggy. I was hoping they had managed to fix their issues, but apparently, they haven’t. The web is full of complaints, and I'm really surprised that people still buy these controllers. Me too I was very close to buying the V1-M, but thanks to your video I decided to stick with my old Mackie, which has never had an issue.

I do want to add that it could be working for you without any problems, but it is in my opinion risky. Very hard to know if you will get issues or not. If the device is free from faults, it's a fantastic device but it is something we producers/engineers HATE it is uncertainty and when things are not stable.
Softube's latest looks soo good though! Perhaps that could be something?

@@mix-in Softube is a nice device but too limited for my needs. The Avid Dock + S1 could be the one, or even just the Avid Dock. It's a bit expensive, but definitely not as buggy as Icon products. It's unfortunate that Icon has so many issues because I love the idea of having OLED touchscreen programmable fields, but Icon is far from reliable.

Imagine if they would release this bug free + stepping away from the MCU Protocol, implementing something new. I think they would have taken the market by storm.

    My problem is:
The meter bridge does not show colours with Logic Pro, they say it's because of Logics internal protocol and Icon can't change that but X-Touch apparently solved that problem, so I guess the solution is Icon's job to solve.

I recently bought the P1 Nano. I ended up sending it back because I just had too many issues that I couldn't ignore, I didn't bother with icon support as I only had a few days left to get a full refund. iMap was painful to use. I had to wipe and reinstall everything once because the key buttons stopped working after changing some key commands on the first page.
The straw that broke the camel's back was having a channel selected, and when going to write automation as soon as I touch the fader the selected channel would jump to another one, it was stuck on that particular channel for some reason, even after changing fader banks, it would still jump to that one channel. It only happened occasionally, but when it did I couldn't stop it from being locked in that state. In my opinion that is a complete deal breaker. There are MANY other minor issues that I won't go into detail about...
Just purchased the FaderPort V2. It's a shame because the icon device did fit my needs perfectly, like you said. Really nice device if it actually worked properly.

I am using the P1-M on a PC running Studio One. I've emailed them, and received no response. Keeping in mind that the V1-M can do is dependent upon what the DAW exposes via MIDI, I do have a few workarounds for the issues I have. Sorry if TL/DR, but you did ask. :)
Things that bug me the most:
    - The master slider is undependable. I frequently fade out the master volume at the end of a song. For two of my songs of about 8 tracks it fades to about half way then stops. It is totally useless thereafter, if I move to a different spot in the song it stays there. If I manually move the slider to 0, as soon as I hit 'Play' it goes back to 50% even though the For a simple one-song it works perfectly. My workaround is the press the master/Assign button to turn off the master slider completely. :(
NOTE: There is an option in Studio One which might help when moving to a previous spot in the song in S1, it was in one of Gregor's videos but I have yet to find it again.
    - I use black electrical tape to cover up some of the digits on the time display. I only use Beats mode, and having extra 0's in the display made it very hard to read.
Things that bug me but I can live with:
    - The master meter does not work. Not that big a deal, but annoying.
    - Many of the pre-mapped keys for Studio One PC don't work. To be honest I have not researched why, but it does seem odd they would be like this straight out of the box. No, I have not remapped keys in S1.
    - I use page 3 of the Button functions in iMap to store hotkeys that I will never use or don't work. There is no way to copy a blank on over them or to delete them.
    - There is a 'Firmware Upgrade" button on the lower left of IMap. Why? It will blindly update the firmware of the V1-M, even if an update is not needed. Not a good idea! Flashing firmware is something that should be done with caution in any device as if something goes wrong it will almost certainly become bricked. Maybe a link to the downloads page would be better? People who are investing in equipment like this should be computer-savvy enough to know how to download and install an update.
I did ask them about a dust cover, as there is one on eBay but it comes from Bulgaria. There response was basic, no help at all. I realize this is kind of a niche product, but maybe there is a dust cover out there that would be close enough to use? Anyone have a dust cover they could recommend?

      @mix-in  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Nothing is too long if it is relevant to iCON, and if I owned the business I would want to hear what everyone had to say, so thank you for your comment.
Do I get this right that you can write automation on the master in S1? I haven't checked if things are different for me since the update but I could not do it on 1.05 in cubase. Bummer to hear about your issues, especially the master fader one. How long was is it since you emailed them if I may ask?

😳.....😅Glad i saw this video and comments about it's performance. Was really loving the looks of this controller and the bigger versions but it goes to show that looks are not everything. Icon apparently didn't want to invest anymore money in R&D i guess and decided to use consumers as bug hunters instead of taking the time to properly test and fix software/hardware issues. I must admit though that i was already skeptical about their controllers and software stability when during their demos it was shown that you have to hold down a specific button when starting up your daw. I was like "oh, looks like their programmers cant figure out how to get the Daw and controllers to immediatly communicate with each other during DAW startup without resorting to an end users physical intervention." They need to fire their programmers.🤨

Meanwhile I cannot know for sure, to me it feels like it is somewhat 50/50. Some people are experiencing no issues at all and some are having a mess. Usually (I believe) it is more that a big part of users have the same issues. However in this situation it feels like a lot of people can have so many different issues, so many irregularities.
I have had discussions/comments saying basically iCON products are rock solid and flawless, and if they have never experienced any issue no wonder they say that - and I just find it so uncommon that the contrasts can be that large.
I was also skeptical due to the mixed reviews and lack of user reviews on TH-cam compared to other units but the p1-m form factor was perfect for me so I took the risk. At the moment I do not know if it was worth it. I am in contact with iCON so I am taking it from there now. But as I have said elsewhere, I will not allow disturbances in the long run.

I’m having all those problems and the faders are not aligned correctly as my master is my first fader at times or I just can’t find it even when it’s reading on my display screen. I used three daws but I mostly use Pro Tools. I’ve been thinking of returning but it has so much potential. If they did update and roll out like MPC does this would be a force to be reckoning with.

Yea I also think concept wise this is really really good. Also I need this size of a controller, I can't go any bigger.
How about you though, can you go bigger in size? I do believe the SSL UF8 seems really good, or the Softube MK3 if you don't need faders.

Wow that's a terrible controller. I've tried several controllers over the years only to discover they are useless with all the bugs they come with no matter what DAW. In fact going to another DAW introduced different issues. Slowed me down all the time and spent too much time trying to get them to cooperate. It frustrated me... took away inspiration and valuable time down the drain. Nowadays I just use a presonus faderport v2 on my left as the transport controls are just so convenient. Also so easy to zoom in n out when editing. Don't even have to look at the controller. On my right I use a mouse. Mouse is king in my opinion. Never fails and does exactly what I want it to do. I also use a stream deck with some handy shortcuts next to the faderport. Nowadays I just work on my projects and get things done. The only controller I use is the faderport v2 which is cheap and works every time.

I ran into the Usb issue with another company named Elgato, ya may have heard of them? , so they us a Usb2.0 to Usb-c cable with their Stream decks, and they claim that they too MUST be connected to the Computer directly!, however that is not entirely actuate , a thunderbolt dock, or a High Powered USB Dock can also work, but from my experience with the Streamdeck both work, but with something such as the P1-m or any Surface controller, you are going to have to go with either a direct or Thunderbolt dock which simulates a direct connection perfectly for everything that you plug in to it! Just my Experience , and nothing more. Cheers!

I had the same issue with a panning knob jumping back and forth after half a year with a platform x from 2020.
Thomann repaired it but I sold it shortly after.
Besides that a couple of other issues like faders losing connection for a moment...
Seems produciton didn't get much better since then!
I'm happy with Presonus Faderport since then.

      @mix-in  หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you for your comment. I am somewhat hopeful that the knob issue is software based since it has gotten worse after an update, no guarantee though I guess.
Glad to hear you have found a controller that works for you. P1-M was the only controller making sense for me, it was crucial that it had faders+encoders while being compact. I just hope that I will get it resolved this year, otherwise I may remove it from my workflow.

my p1-Nano freezes as in unresponsive usually every hour or so the transport numbers are ticking over but nothing responds till i turn it off and on again. i find it works better on some daws better than others the preset touch buttons dont make sense sometimes as to what they do. for example ableton daw has 1 of the 5 banks of touch buttons choices as F1 all the way to F15. these arnt shortcuts in ableton at all they do nothing. I personally think the biggest issue is fundamental in that it use Mackie control and its unreliable and different manufacterers implement certain thing and not others. The manual is crap. they should at least have a page for each daw explaining what all 80 buttons do as they are NOT mostly keyboard shortcuts. You hit them and nothing happens . it says page up page down on screen buttons in bitwig but it does something else or nothing at all and you look in your daws default presets key commands and these arent even set. hence why i think these are just names and actually Mackie control assignments that someone named with these non sensical names. I gave up after a month support is hopeless. they have terrible documentation and its generally flakey as . if they want to become serious they need stable products with documents that explain what each button does on the default setting for all the daw options. i switch between ableton and bitwig and every screen button command is different on the controller and again half opf them do nothing or make no sense or work sometime maybe on one place if your lucky. its so confusing and frustrating i went and bought an akai APC 64 today and it just works with all the devices no hassle didnt even need to read the manual

Thank you for sharing your experience, iCON needs to see comments like these.
I feel many share your (our) opinion that it is confusing. The manual/instructions are definitely not optimal, and could be improved pretty easily. Some parts are well explained but in overall it is mediocre and should be improved.
Also the instruction videos, I think they have 1 solid and the rest are not really good in my opinion.
You say Mackie is unreliable, I am somewhat new to this, even though I have understood the concept quite quickly. But ye, in my mind it should be reliable since it has been used for so long, or should I expect otherwise?
