    Lower taxes, lower gas prices and higher wages... The worlds a mess but I'm from Halifax and lived in Alberta for 5 years and can promise you its a top tier province. I may be wrong but I think Calgary when you average everything out is the most appealing City in the entire country.

    • @LiveInnerCity

      Couldn't agree more! I mean, other cities are great too like Montreal for the food and vibe, Van & Toronto for lifestyle, nightlife and food too but Calgary is a decent balance especially when you take into account the financial piece which is a big deal! I also love how sunny it is here ... it makes me happy! Hahhaa Thanks for sharing Jared!

    You are really glossing over some details here. Calgary is a boom and bust economy, but you said "lots of places have ups and downs", but Calgary's ups and downs are much more extreme and risky because it's tied to a SINGLE INDUSTRY and one that is VOLATILE.

    • @LiveInnerCity
      @LiveInnerCity  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed, Calgary's economy has historically been tied closely to the energy sector, which can be subject to volatility. We recognize that this can introduce certain risks, as fluctuations in commodity prices can impact the local economy. However, it's essential to note that while the energy sector is a significant contributor to Calgary's economy, it's not the sole driving force. Calgary boasts a diverse range of industries, including technology, finance, healthcare, and transportation, which contribute to its overall resilience.

    Not having a provincial tax is why so many "public" services like health care are not covered! Not having a provincial tax is BAD. Alberta relies on O&G to offset provincial tax, but it's boom and bust and not what it used to be. Therefore it cuts social services for the most vulnerable. Be honest!

    Moved to Calgary not understanding how low the wages are and the cost of living especially the cost of food compared to everywhere else other than northern territories. Moved back to BC immediately got hired doing the same thing, double the wage. Food is more cheap in the small BC town I'm in compared to the walmart's or superstores in Calgary. Gross city, even worse of people.

    I feel that people are unfriendly and rude in Calgary. Why is that?

    • @LiveInnerCity
      @LiveInnerCity  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there!
      I'm really sorry to hear that your experience with people in Calgary hasn't been great. As someone who's lived here for years, I've actually found that folks in Calgary are generally friendly and welcoming. But hey, I totally get it-everyone's experience is different, and it's a bummer that yours hasn't been positive.
      Now, there could be a few reasons why some people perceive Calgary as unfriendly. First off, it's a big city, and that can make it challenging to make connections, especially when you're new to town. Plus, Calgary is super diverse, which means different cultures bring different expectations about social interactions.
      I truly hope you'll give Calgary another chance. I believe that once you get to know the people here, you'll find them warm and friendly. Thanks for tuning in to my video, and hang in there! :)

    • @brownnomad6805
      @brownnomad6805 ปีที่แล้ว

      @LiveInnerCity I appreciate your honest respond. I am based in Vancouver and have lived in Toronto for most of my life. Both cities are very social with occasionally bad apple interaction. But Calgary is different. People don't smile and they feel and express that newcomers are taking them over. I am pretty sure that there are many nice people in Calgary once you know them. But your daily interactions such as doing grocery, dealing with insurance, getting license etc. People don't treat you the same as Vancouver or Toronto. I do believe that this will further change as more people are moving to Calgary..

    • @LiveInnerCity
      @LiveInnerCity  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brownnomad6805 I hear you loud and clear, and I appreciate your honest perspective as well. It's understandable that the social dynamics in Calgary might feel different compared to Vancouver and Toronto. Sometimes it can be a bit disheartening when you don't experience the same level of warmth and friendliness in your daily interactions.
      But hey, change takes time, my friend, and as more awesome people like yourself move to Calgary, the city is bound to evolve and become even more open and welcoming.
      Hang in there. Calgary is a city that's constantly growing and shifting, and that means there's hope for a more inclusive and friendly atmosphere down the road. Your honest experiences and perspective contribute to that change, and that's pretty rad.
      And hey, if it means anything, whenever you find yourself in Calgary, feel free to give us a shout! We'll be here, ready to show you that warm and friendly side of Calgary ;)
      Thanks for opening up and sharing your thoughts!

Thinking of moving to Calgary instead, but I don’t want the unaffordable lifestyle that I had in Van. For reference 64k in downtown Van. It depends on so many factors like if you have family, lifestyle (includes debts for nice cars, how nice of a house you want to live in, location, etc.), how much money you want to save after paying for all expenses, and on and on. I would establish a credit card right away once you arrive here. Assuming a good credit score (680+) you will get the same rates as Canadian citizens. i have dry eyes, im afraid it's going worst if i move to Calgary. Have some advice?

    • @LiveInnerCity
      @LiveInnerCity  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Diego!
      I understand your concerns about moving to Calgary and its potential impact on your dry eyes. While I'm not a medical expert, I can offer some general tips that may help alleviate dry eyes in various environments. However, it's important to consult with an eye care professional for personalized advice. Here are a few suggestions:
      Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay properly hydrated, as dehydration can worsen dry eye symptoms.
      Use Artificial Tears: Over-the-counter artificial tear drops can provide temporary relief by lubricating your eyes. Use them as directed or as recommended by an eye care professional.
      Take Regular Breaks: If you spend a lot of time working on screens or in dry environments, remember to take breaks and give your eyes a rest. Use the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for about 20 seconds.
      Protect Your Eyes: Wear sunglasses or protective eyewear when outdoors to shield your eyes from wind, dust, and sunlight.
      Maintain Indoor Humidity: Consider using a humidifier to add moisture to the air in your living or workspaces, as dry indoor environments can exacerbate dry eye symptoms.
      Avoid Excessive Airflow: Try to minimize exposure to fans, air conditioning, or heating vents that may contribute to dryness and irritation.
      Remember, these tips are general suggestions and may not address the underlying cause of your dry eyes. I highly recommend consulting with an eye care professional who can provide personalized advice based on your specific condition and medical history.
      They can assess the severity of your dry eyes, recommend appropriate treatments, and guide you on managing your symptoms effectively. Your eye care professional will be the best resource for addressing your concerns and ensuring your eye health remains a top priority.
      Take care of your eyes, and best of luck with your move to Calgary! 🌟👀
