  • The steel horseshoe, which has been used for centuries, has been reinvented by an Austrian company.

Retired horseshoer of 30 years. I would imagine people are going to have a hard time keeping these on. Time will be spent looking for them when they come off. Someday something will hit the market that really will work. I will be happy to see it. It will bust the bubble in the overpriced business of shoeing horses. I will say this. 90% of horses really don’t need shoes if people would maintain the feet every 4 weeks. Not 5 weeks but 4 weeks. A light trim and roll the edges will do the trick. Trouble starts when people look at the feet at 4 weeks and think the horse can go a little longer without trimming. Big mistake.

That's just your opinion based on nothing. You watched a video. And now you're an expert on these? Really? How about you bother to try them out, and then you can have a say. Otherwise, thanks for your 30 years of nailing shoes to a horse experience but ZERO experience with these shoes.

@@user-is6yl9wi7e I shod horses 35 years. One customer I had was Jack Newton. World champion cutting horse trainer. Jack never put shoes on the front . If the feet are maintained regularly not over 4 weeks most horses don’t need shoes. Really it’s a scam. The secret is maintaining the feet every 3 to 4 weeks. I am glad the people were suckers in thinking their horses needed shoes. Otherwise be a lot poorer.

Of course they don’t really NEED shoes horses survived in the wild long before humans without requiring metal being affixed to their feet , I’m sure a plastic and foam shoe might be more comfortable on our modern Asphalt and cement streets (but with cars horses are more of a luxury than anything these days) I always wanted a horse growing up but coming from an extremely poor family could never afford to feed or house one horses are dirt cheap here you can find them for free a lot but the food and paddock as well as saddles and reins and everything else you need to care for one properly is just way out of peoples price range unless they are wealthy I also live in a big busy city only see horses being ridden by police a few times a year and if I happen to go to medieval times dinner and tournament lol

@@Ginger_Sweet you don’t ride a horse on asphalt maybe crossing the street or a parade. No plastic or foam or anything else is needed. Just maintain the feet not over 4 weeks. I made a living shoeing horses for over 30 years. I have seen as many feet or more than most people and I am saying that shoeing a horse is a scam. Lameness in a horse may be a different story. An occasional horse may need a bar shoe with clips or a horse with ring bone may need a little help with a rocker type shoe. But the average horse does not need shoes if the feet are maintained. Besides it is very expensive to put shoes on a horse nowadays that is only good for 4 to 6 weeks. In the drier climate of the high plains a horse may go 8;weeks.

@Malachi Yut Suen Wong Btw horseshoeing is not a painful process. But is has risks of infection and joint pain in the long run.

They will never fully replace steel shoes. Best thing I can see them for is medical usage.
