I haven't shared much on the homeschooling front here on TH-cam lately, and I'm finally ready to share why. Some life changes seem to be in store for our family. I'm sharing some of our story about the challenges we've faced over the past 3 years.

As a single mom, homeschooling and working, I want to remind you, you don’t have to work Monday through Friday. I’ve worked weekends /nights for years and years to accommodate being a single mom and homeschooling. While that means not very many fun weekend activities, you still have the full week to join co-ops and stay in a “normal” school schedule. I work from home doing emergency room registration, and have only been home 1 1/2 years, I did the same job in a physical emergency room prior.
God has blessed me tremendously with my weekend schedule and we love being able to do homeschool together during the week on a regular Monday through Friday schedule.
God will guide you, look outside the box of a normal work schedule if you want to have a normal homeschool day/week.

God bless you for trusting Him and walking through being a single mom as you fulfill your calling in such a creative way. I'm praying for you right now and asking Him to bless you with help for any pressing financial needs you may have, and to bless you with some godly and supportive women too if you don't already have a few to lean on/minister to/minister with. ❤

I stayed at home for years, and now I am considering working again after my husband lost his job. I watched this video with no clue what it was about, empathized with you and then realized that changes are happening in my own life as well. Your video is encouraging. Let's remember this, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." -Philippians 4:13 Our victory mantra!

What a blessing you will be to so many of us working moms who homeschool. It can seem like a lonely place here when other homeschool moms are talking about co ops and PE classes that just don’t fit in a work schedule. God can use you in this trial.
Having said that, I’ll tell you homeschooling and working at the same time isn’t too hard! I thought my heart would break when my husband had health issues that put me in the work force. Without an education or a skill, I went to work as a custodian at a university. Many times my children have thanked me for working so hard.
The beauty of homeschooling is the openness of your schedule. Tailoring school around a schedule takes time, but is manageable. I’ll pray for you!

I also wanted to add...Thank you for sharing. The internet is a scary place to be so vulnerable. Many families are struggling in this economy and I pray that God writes a story of hope and encouragement for your family and for the parents watching. To God be the glory.

Hi Toni. This is the first time I’ve ever left a comment for someone on TH-cam, but my heart goes out to you and I wanted to share. First thank you for your courage to share from such a vulnerable place. I am new to your channel and your story resonates with me. I was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2018 - another ‘invisible disease’ that can affect the neuro system and is an absolute beast. Add a virus on top of that and the body goes wild. I wanted to share that functional/holistic medicine changed my life. I saw 23 different doctors in the first year of my illness. No one knew what to do with me. I was as one doctor put it, “a unicorn in a field of horses”. God has blessed me through the trials of this journey so that I may help others experiencing similar situations. I also know several people suffering from long haul (your husbands specific virus) issues. I don’t know how to share info with you directly, but if I can assist in pointing you towards an applied kinesiologist in your area that follows Jesus and believes in the body’s ability to heal through holistic remedies - I would tell you not to delay. I went from being bed bound most of the day for years, to living a mostly ‘normal’ life including homeschooling my daughter. 🙌🏻 Praying for your husband’s health and for you the care taker, mom, teacher and wife. God bless you. ❤

Still watching the video but “the end of everything” hit me so hard. I completely get that. It’s a hopeless feeling. I like the verse, Against all hope, Abraham hoped.
Also fyi, I work full time and homeschooled for 5 years doing that. Sent my boys to private school for 2 years but we’re going back to homeschool in the Fall.
I will be keeping you and the family in prayer. I know there was a lot left unsaid. ❤

Listened to your update while eating breakfast today. I'm stopping to pray for you. I pray that if you have to begin working outside your home, that it is a very short season in your life. I believe for big changes coming to our financial system. Praying that the Lord brings them soon. I have been homeschooling my kids for 4 years now. I have been asking the Lord to lead me in making some decisions about a business opportunity. I currently have no job or business. I have felt stressed about the idea of returning to work AND continuing to homeschool. It would be very hard with my husband's work hours. I'm going to pray that God blesses your business and sends lots of people to stay in your inn. I hope your youtube views and commissions increase, too! Your situation sounds hard. But. God. 🙏🏻

I will definitely be praying for you. I was just talking to my husband about this kind of situation yesterday-I quit a promising career 13 years ago to stay home with my kids as I consider it such an important and high calling. I am not lazy, I also do not sit around all day eating bon bons. LOL I work hard to save us money, teach our children in the way they should go, and not be 'lazy'. But I think often that sacrifice of not working outside the home is overlooked. When we do re-enter the workforce, we are literally starting from scratch, and it's very difficult. I pray you will find God's perfect fit for your situation. And I will be praying for healing for your husband. He is very blessed to have you!

I was in the same boat 6 months ago. I wanted to start working part time to help fund fun homeschool field trips. Then my husband lost his job and I was offered a full time position 😭. After being home for 8 years I was terrified but we’ve been doing great! I do work from home which is the biggest blessing! We homeschool in the morning and I work after lunch to past dinner but I’m still able to make my babies their meals and be home with them. Hang in there mama. I’m praying for you and wish I could give you a hug!

I loosely follow the Robinson Curriculum, which encourages independent learning of the students. One of the biggest selling points of the curriculum is sticking to the 3Rs, reading, writing, math. If you do those 3 every day, you can consider it a successful school day. There are so many ways to get other subjects in, in an unschool manor… History Channel documentaries, Crash Course videos on TH-cam, free AP classes taught in playlists on TH-cam. Praying for you and you can do it!
Don’t know what CNAs and nursing pats in your area, but around here starting salary is $19+ and they usually provide benefits at 30 hours a week.

    • @nwilson942
      @nwilson942 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Yes, I am also using the Robinson Curriculum (plus a few extra subjects) and absolutely love the method and AMAZING book list - I even printed out the books so I don’t have to buy anything except paper really… love my ecotank)
Also another option is using TGTB free curriculum and again print it out yourself (I did this for our first few years of homeschooling because we couldn’t afford to purchase curriculum.
There are so many free resources available online and highly suggest Mom Delights (she has a TH-cam channel as well)
Easy Peasy is another free curriculum, as well as Ambleside Online
      Hope this helps!!
Praying 🙏🏽 for you and your family ❤ Toni

We homeschool mondays and Fridays after 1pm, Saturday and Sunday. Its hard but we just finished our 4th yr. Your husbands story is eerily similar to my husband's, he was a captain for corrections until 12/2023. Totally agree about the disability paperwork. You can do this. It will be hard, its not the instagram pretty homeschool, but you can do this.

    I am praying for y’all!
I also wanted to say I was in a place before and during Covid where I was working from home (before it became popular) with my own business. I had my son in public school.
I just knew that I didn’t want my son in a mask all day at school, and virtual wasn’t going to cut it with my business. I prayed and felt led to homeschool.
I didn’t think I could do it, work my business, plus I had some extra side hustles and homeschool.
I had so much encouragement, and literally with God holding my hand I made more in that year than ever!
I say all this to encourage you! I know this is backwards from where you stand, but God definitely makes a way! We are still homeschooling and I am still working.

I taught in a Christian school for 25 years. My daughters went to school at the school where I taught. It was overwhelming at times because of small paychecks, exhaustion from the job and home duties, but God got me through it all. I never regret one moment I spent doing the hard stuff. I'm praying for you and your family. You've got this because you have God to hold onto. You are really brave! God bless you.

Hi. I recently found (and love/appreciate) your channel, but rarely listen to videos with this type of title. God led me to click. Although you already have many comments or encouragement, I feel God nudging me to offer some, too. I homeschooled my youngins when they were preschool through some of 4th while my husband and I started a fitness business. It was the joy of my life. Fast forward almost 5 years, our business failed and I had ACL reconstruction surgery. I didn't know why God had allowed these things to happen, on top of the fact that I had to go back to work. I was literally grieving that I had to stop homeschooling. I understand some of the emotions you have been experiencing and my heart is heavy for you. However, I can see God's fingerprints all over my life and how He has worked it all out. I still don't know why he allowed our business to fail or my knee to have injury, but He provided a new, wonderful job. He provided an affordable Christian school. And this last year, He allowed the experience I gained from biz ownership and that new job to open an opportunity to work from home.... We are now homeschooling again. I am so thankful and give Him all the glory. He worked out all things... Just like Romans 8:28-29 says. It just wasn't my way. With trust in Him, you and your family CAN do this and I look forward to watching a video where you might share a glimpse of the beautiful tapestry He's weaving through your life. We found homeschooling resources where the kids worked mostly independently and I worked with them when I could. I know you will, too. I WILL be praying for you and your family. PS - my current job hires a lot! I'd be happy to help in that regard in any way I could.

Totally different scenario, but...I started a school and in doing so I ended our homeschooling journey. To be perfectly honest, I'm still not over it. I miss homeschooling every day. BUT...and it's a huge but...I do believe God has called me to do this because I can give other kids the "homeschool" experience at school. You said, "I'm trusting that God has us in His hand..." and that's basically what I'm doing. Some days I literally have no clue why I'm doing this and just want to throw in the towel and go back to my "easy" life of homeschooling my kids, but that's no longer my life and I have to let it go.
Even when something could be seen as "good" it doesn't make it EASY.
God bless you and yours. 😊

We have now found that I have high level metal toxicity. Most doctors do not test for this. A high fat (natural), low processed food, no sugars has helped. The sugars is the biggest part to eliminate. Wising you the best of luck but there is hope.

And it is comforting to people to know they aren’t the only ones struggling and hopefully it is comforting for the person telling to get it off their chest.
I know you will find a way to make it work, I have complete and total faith in you.

I’m very interested in the neurological issues your husband has. We had, what I always called “the weird virus.” Everyone was horribly sick and it was so different from what we had before. This was the end of March 2019. Before Covid. I ended up with Guillian Barre Syndrome symptoms. Went numb from feet up to my ears. Doctors blew me off and told me I was psychosomatic because I could still walk. I was still able to walk. But I still have a layer of numbness from my knees down. Balance is atrocious. Exhaustion. I used to be a Marine back in the day and I can no longer run because of the motor planning involved. (I have a goal to get strong enough and able to try running next spring). Coordination is horrible. It’s something that I’ve learned to live with. And with everything I know now, I’m convinced it was Covid, even at that date.
I’m thankful that I’m able to HS my children. I live in Canada currently ( and have for the past 18 years). If you make a list of resources you’re looking for, maybe those of us who have it and no longer need it can pass it along? I’d love to help you ( or anyone is similar situations) any way I can, if possible. God bless you and your family!

Just found your channel this morning. Praying for you right now. For peace, for direction, for finances, for your mama heart, for courage as you face such tremendous challenges, for healing for your husband, and for God to provide you with creative ways to do your life in this season. Please give yourself and your family lots of grace!! Even if the kids just do audiobooks and math for a time it COUNTS! They will keep learning because that is how God created us-we never stop learning! Trust the foundations that God has already allowed you to put into place and watch your kids thrive, mama!!!

Prayers for you and your family during this transition.

You can do this 🙏🏻 We need more working Mom homeschool support on TH-cam. As a new single Mom I’m heading back to work and have homeschooled my 7th and 11th grader since the beginning. This is a new chapter and God has held me together. Learning doesn’t have to be during the day. Your family studies can be done on weekends and I love Campfire curriculums which were created for Dads to teach. We’re going to use a lot of online curriculum this year. Creating a schedule and being creative is going to help this school year. God will walk you through this, lean on him, give him your time, lay this at his feet. Thank you for your honesty, I will pray for your family for sure. I hope you look at this as your purpose to use your platform to help so many that work and teach. Blessings from PA ❤

I will be praying you find the right position for you. I babysit for a teacher during the school year. I knew I needed something to get us through summer. A neighbor’s mother needs full-time assistance in her home and I was able to pick up two overnight shifts a week. I am able to sleep and wake when she wakes to use the bathroom, to help her back into bed. It’s been a blessing. If we lived closer I feel as though we could be friends. I pray that you see God’s faithfulness during this trying time.

Hi Toni! Just wanted to say that I am praying for you and your family. I too work and homeschool my kiddos. When I decided to homeschool my son we ended up using Sonlight because it laid everything out for me for the full year. You probably know about Sonlight. A month ago I received an email from them stating they were hiring. They had positions for remote work. This may be a needle in a haystack situation but it's worth looking into working for a curriculum company so you could possibly work from home doing what you know and love. Keeping you in prayer for the Lord to direct your steps, fill you with His perfect peace & joy, and for healing for your husband. Ultimately the Lord will get the glory, in Jesus Name :)

I can totally relate…we were not sure for months if I would have to work. I may still have to…but am hoping I can do something from home if need be. But trying to be thrifty as possible. We have special needs kids and simply have to homeschool. But we, like you, realized we could make it work if we had to. Nights, weekends, tag teaming, we could make it work. You can do it!!! You can. And hopefully it can give you such a confidence boost too….you can do it!

You have always been such a breath of fresh air and so incredibly helpful, think of how you will be able to use this to reach a whole new group of homeschool moms. The working homeschool moms will find you too, and you can be an encouragement, and to be honest a lot of my homeschool mom friends have had to go to work and so many did put their kids in school because they don't feel like they can do both. God is going to use you to reach those who are defeated. Praying for you, it's so hard when we are reminded that his plans aren't our plans. But always remember he uses everything for good.

In that same chapter in Psalms, we find these words. “I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed (children) begging for bread.” Be encouraged! You can do this! I’m praying for you.

We homeschooled our children til college age. Around middle school, close to high school we were also faced with a life change and I had to go back to work after years of staying home. It was different, but it was fine. As you said, the Lord gave me the grace, the strength, and wisdom to continue homeschooling and working full time. As I am now retired and looking back at what I once thought was a horrible situation, I now see that God was in it. I didn't know that then. While working, I made lifelong friends, was encouraged to do voice work, made a Christian CD, began a ladie's Bible study at a place which is still ongoing, became the go to person for prayer at another organization I worked for, for heart patients, and on and on. Now I am retired, miss work, the kids have masters degrees, and I now have my own little you tube channel in which I get to make even more friends and have something to do. And who know, if the Lord tarries, maybe I'll go back to work again! I am praying for you and the family. God bless you. Jeanie xxoo

There are so many online programs that are terrific and I know you already use Christian Light which teaches directly to the student. Do you ever think that God brought you to that curriculum years ago because he knew the moment would come when you might not be able to be there all the time?
A relevant story, I majored in elementary education, but ended up teaching special education. It was really, really hard and there were a lot of days where I wondered why I was doing this instead of being in a regular classroom. God had led me there, but I didn't know why. Kids were in my classroom (up to 10 at a time) and they all had different needs and were working on different things. It was a lot to manage. Fast forward, I'm a homeschooling mom of three, two with special needs. They are all working on different things and have different needs. God was preparing me for this moment. He's preparing you too. ❤

Many prayers will be lifted to God from me for your family! I had to go back to work for most of the year last year and it was not easy for me..I was very emotional, because like you I have always felt like homeschooling and being a stay at home mom/keeper at home was my calling and I loved it! My husband is a disabled veteran and because of the economy his disability wasn’t enough 😭 I am back home for now, and I am looking into going to Medical Assistant school and hoping my work schedule will be flexible than it was last year! But all last year we still continued to homeschool..it was evenings and weekends, but we did it. You are so right, “With God all things are possible.” It’s definitely not always easy! You can do this! You are in my prayers. I ended up getting a part time job doing laundry at a nursing home to help with finances. I work in the evening 6-2. It is a nice schedule to be able to continue to homeschool. With your husband being home look at options where you could work in the evenings. Or possibly divide up the homeschooling between the two of you?? I feel like I am becoming much more efficient with my time working a job. If homeschooling is the path God has laid out for you he will pave a way. If God is planning something different, it will be beautiful and you will look back on this time and realize his wonderful plan all along.
