that bubbling is called alligatoring and it is caused from getting hot and cold for many years in an attic or somewhere like that .not tobacco. it is the varnish . i like it i would never remove it.
Oh my gosh….My Grandma had those fisher price little people in your eBay store that we played with growing up, I think she had a little barn or school or something that went along with it. I’ll never forget my favorite thing of hers was a little cow we milked, I remember putting some sort of dissolvable tablet in it before milking it….oh the good old days ❤❤❤
My mother gave me a furniture piece that had those bubbles in the finish. It had been in a very damp space for years. That’s what caused the finish to bubble. It looked exactly like your mirror. Looked great when you finished.
That bumps are a special kind of shellac and it's apain to sand because it clocs up the sandpaper ! I once had a kitchen cupboard with that kind of colour it was so much work to get it clean .
The bumpy texture was old shellac or varnish. I refinished an old oak table with the exact same look. It had been stored in an attic for years. I assumed the texture was from the extreme heat. I had to use stripper and then sanding of course. It is now a beautiful stained piece as my sewing table.
UGH my 12x18 she shed is getting finished tomorrow and then we have to finish out the inside before I have room to create! I cant wait! You inspire me so much! I just need a hoard like you to pick from!
My tongue hangs down a little sometimes too !! And this roosters been around a long time too! I love the sign and the shutter You teach me everyday Yvonne xo
That was a very large tongue depressor you just Antiqued :) It really looks good. I like the Q that way.. My gosh that was one chunky mirror. Really nice wood. My gosh I couldn't believe that came from smoking. I'm thankful I quit 25 years ago. Chick you have a good week and God Bless, Hugs Rebekah
Oh your so clever with your make overs. You must have a million of ideas in your n brain. That last pierce you did (the board) looked just like a old time ironing board. The reason I mention this is I have one just like it. Mine has short boards on the bottom as for legs n the top was nailed onto the legs with square nails. I was told back in the day they used it as a bench but when time to iron they would place the board on 2 ladder back chairs n proceed to iron. Of course mine wasn’t painted white. I painted it n aged it years ago. It’s a real special antique to me. I’ve had it for over 30ty yrs. My favorite of all was the Oak mirror. It turned out awesome. As for me I’d keep it. It’s a oldy but a goody. That build up on it was shellac. If you kept at it with the alcohol you would of gotten it off. Yes, it does get sticky. It’s always a pleasure to my soul to watch your videos. I’m one of your biggest fans. ♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟
Loved everything but the framed burlap piece. I would have tightened up the burlap around the frame and stapled it. I hate loose wrinkled things in a display case. Why not check out what I did with 12 inch mirrors in the bathroom, and tell me what you think?
The bumpy is just the old stain, it pulls away over time but doesn't fall off, lol, I've seen it many times, I use steel wool and a little water. The frame is beautiful oak, it deserves to be refinished. I t would look great with your decor. That piece is my exact buffet top, same date on the mirror, too. Just think, in a hundred years that stain you put on will be bumpy stuff on the piece for another generation to refinish.
I love all of these, love the antique sign and they are not carbon copies but one of a kinds, you have great ideas and most of what I like too, that antique rustic decor!❤
Wow !! What a difference you made in the mirror! Absolutely beautiful! The coffee sack window looks great, I love the rise and shine rooster !! The antique sign is gorgeous! You always amaze me!!
Great job on each piece. My favs were the mirror and the Antiques! I even like that the Q is a tiny bit smaller...looks more authentic I think. I'm so glad you made it for yourself!
I love the mirror!! Did you put the dated board back on it? And the shutter was inspired. It takes imagination to see all the pieces in on me cohesive look, but you do it every time. Love watching both of you.
Love your projects. Have a question about the finishing wax, is it sticky, does it attract dust. I want to give a dry sink of my grandmothers a refresh. Wondering if it’s sticky, never finished with wax.
Oh my!❤❤❤ The mirror turned out really pretty! That nicotine is done nasty stuff. My favorite was the coffee bean sack window!!! I love everything about it!❤ The board was just perfect! I really enjoyed this video.❤❤❤ Thank you Yvonne!❤️
Your mirror was changing color as you used alcohol because alcohol removes shellac. Those bumps are damaged shellac. If you would have continued to use the alcohol it would have removed all the shellac without sanding. If you wanted the color back you only need to put new shellac over it.
Everything is wonderful!!! Giving new life to those pieces made me so happy!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 Thank you, Yvonne, for the creative inspiration that you always always have!!! ❤❤❤❤
I like shutters and that my favourite saying when I think of roosters. I have a picture of a rooster crowing and it says rise and shine.

That is one big sign!!! I do believe my favorite is the shutter with the rooster on it. Looked really nice.
Gorgeous!! The Q makes it look authentic!! And the burlap is perfect!
Loved the. Antique sign the most and the shutter. You always put your whole heart into your projects

The antique varnish was what bubbled on the mirror (which I think is made of oak). Love your channel!❤
I Loved All 4 of your “antiqued” pieces!! The “Q” is perfect-have to have a little quirkiness !!!❤️That rooster sign is so freaking cute too.
That mirror is awesome!
That bumps are a special kind of shellac and it's apain to sand because it clocs up the sandpaper ! I once had a kitchen cupboard with that kind of colour it was so much work to get it clean .
The sign looks great
I know exactly what those bumps are because it happens to my mom and she owned houses it's Old varnish
Exactly what I was going to say.
Yes old varnish .
Heat will make old varnish bubble like that.
@@dsmith5844 yes
If a piece of furniture sits in direct sunlight for an extended period of time, the finish will sun check and bubble like that.
Everything is beautiful. I just purchased 3 wooden ironing boards. One is shaped exactly like your antique sign but smaller. Thanks for the idea. ❤😮
That mirror is beautiful!
Would love to have the mirror and put hooks on the bottom of it for coats. It is beautiful.
Yes put it on the wall behind you. Maybe edge distress in black and hang it up. Stunning.

I love the mirror!!! So fun when you take these items so in need and turn them into gems!!! Was the antique sign a surf board?
They all came out great. My favorites the rooster and the antique sign. Love that chippy paint.
Today I do have a favorite...the shutter! As always TFS Yvonne.

Thank you for all your videos , Whack can we do with an old , big , wall clock that-doesn’t work ???
I love all of these, love the antique sign and they are not carbon copies but one of a kinds, you have great ideas and most of what I like too, that antique rustic decor!❤
I think the Antiques sign might have been a ceiling fan blade.
❤❤❤❤❤
Love all these creative transformations. Could not pick a favourite. TFS
Do you know about vinegar stain for making wood look like barn board? If you want it I will share it with you…it’s amazing
Yes.. I’ve done the vinegar and steel wool stain.
Yvonne, all of the projects turned out awesome as usual, and that mirror and ANTIQUE sign is GORGEOUS! ❤❤❤❤
Wow !! What a difference you made in the mirror! Absolutely beautiful! The coffee sack window looks great, I love the rise and shine rooster !! The antique sign is gorgeous! You always amaze me!!
Oh yes, that mirror turned out gorgeous. Everything was finished beautifully. The coffee window would look great in my daughter’s house. ❤
The mirror came out amazingly beautiful , love the window and the beautiful sign! Thanks for sharing!
The 100 year old mirror deserved to be restored.
Great job on each piece. My favs were the mirror and the Antiques! I even like that the Q is a tiny bit smaller...looks more authentic I think. I'm so glad you made it for yourself!

The mirror itself had the date. But yes.. I put a better board on the back along with the aged patina board
Love your projects. Have a question about the finishing wax, is it sticky, does it attract dust. I want to give a dry sink of my grandmothers a refresh. Wondering if it’s sticky, never finished with wax.
No the wax when cured is not sticking at all
@@GingerChickRehab thanks.
Yvonne I love watching you create! You are so talented! That mirror turned out gorgeous!! ❤❤
Yvonne, that mirror is a stunner! The way you worked with the wood to get the best possible finish was just amazing.
❤😊
Could the mirror have gone above a fireplace?
Maybe
Oh my!❤❤❤ The mirror turned out really pretty! That nicotine is done nasty stuff. My favorite was the coffee bean sack window!!! I love everything about it!❤ The board was just perfect! I really enjoyed this video.❤❤❤ Thank you Yvonne!❤️
Love the wood framed mirror, great job on that❣️
You always inspire Yvonne! I loved that you did a sign that was painted by hand too! Oh and that first piece, wow! Thank you!
Does your son Alex still thrift too?
Yes.. not as much though.
Your mirror was changing color as you used alcohol because alcohol removes shellac. Those bumps are damaged shellac. If you would have continued to use the alcohol it would have removed all the shellac without sanding. If you wanted the color back you only need to put new shellac over it.
Thank you for not painting that stunning mirror. ❤
I thought you had a big ant on your table but turned out I had a small ant on my laptop screen LOL
Lol😂
Im sorry but that bell sound was really annoying. I thought I was crazy. Lol
Everything is wonderful!!! Giving new life to those pieces made me so happy!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you, Yvonne, for the creative inspiration that you always always have!!! ❤❤❤❤
