Guys there’s actually a hidden ending where you unlock a feature that allows you play the entire game as Will Ferrell. In order to unlock this ending you must go into the Cheesecake Factory and ask the waiter for the “Ferrell Surprise.” Don’t let the developers know I told you this.

Always loved this game but was so happy when dunkey solidified his love for it as well. It truly has stood the test of time and will for many console generations to come.

Noticed that too! In his dunkview he was impressed, in the best of 2018 he said it was genius, now he praised it throughout the video. Maybe the tedium of the climbing is wearing off, I find that after I haven't played a game for a while I kinda remember mostly the good parts.

I think the gameplay and AI is criminally underrated for this game since the entire focus is on the storyline. The way stalkers work in game and in general enemy encounters are so damn dynamic you will be always on your toes. Stalkers should be the seed for next generation AI design of stealth enemies. Amazing.
Just played TLOU for the first time on PC and beat it, not sure if the gameplay is similar to the 2nd game for the remaster but there was not a dull moment during gameplay. Phenomenal

Playing through the game a second time made me realize how much I care about the characters in the game. The scene with Joel and Ellie in the museum made me want a DLC that’s just Joel and Ellie hanging out and watching movies
@Thunder Cake123 Yeah I agree with that but I think that may have been somewhat intentional too, at least sometimes; they humanise some characters just enough to make them feel real. In turn one you kill the random people it can feel just like that; they are just random people with their own lives who you didn't know. As for the characters in the story I agree with you, I think it's probably some development constraint, or just a narrative one; they probably too many for their own good tbh

You know when I first watched this video I thought to my self this guy is crazy. But 3 years later having had enough time to forget about all the spoilers and all the negativity I bought and played the game for myself and experience it blind. And having now finished it this guy was spot on.

@@smellyarmpit23 I honestly have no idea. I prepared a long comment speculating every possible reason but it was very long so I didn't bother posting it. To sum it up I think it's mainly 2 things. 1, people being hurt by Joel's death and 2 later being forced to play as the person who killed him. Not only that there was so much negativity and bad aura around the game a bunch of people I'm sure just followed the group instead of giving it a proper chance. I bet a lot of people would chanage their opinion on the game if they gave it a second chance, especially now thanks to hindsight. Personally, I was able to open myself up to it, and playing as Abby was honestly a stroke of genius and a big part of why I enjoyed the game so much.
Didn't have a Playstation at the time and didn't pay much attention to the game, just heard it was bad. I recently got a PS5 and gave it a try, and it completely blew me away.

Because it seems to me it’s always (conveniently) ignored. People act like in the house, surrounded by Abby’s crew, is the first time they give their names. It isn’t. Joel and Tommy rescue Abby. Abby works alongside them to help fight off numerous infected. They’re stuck in a dire situation in desperate need of escape. Tommy then proceeds to tell her their names and ask for hers. Do you not think, all things considered, that this is a situation in which it’s acceptable and even useful to know each other’s names? Fighting alongside someone in a fight or die situation is a pretty quick way to gain each other’s trust. At least to a name knowing level I’d say. It’s only AFTER this that she suggests going to the house where her crew are. If Joel and Tommy suddenly decide to lie about their names whilst there then Abby would have called them out.

I finally got to playing and beating this game about a week ago. I had no idea why people were upset about this game, but I just played it without digging into it. It is now one of my favorite games I have played.
I had a friend who loved TLOU, and read all about TLOU2 spoilers. He was livid and felt like they ruined the series. I didn't read the spoilers but I heard how mad everyone was. Played the game on Day 1 and didn't stop until I beat it. I told him how good it was, and basically had to persuade him to play it; then he loved it. It was just stupid gamers being stupid gamers.
I didn’t know anything about these games and I played the first one and second one back to back recently and it was one of the most intense gaming experiences of my life, don’t know why people hate it cause I wish I could replay them again for the first time nothing quite like it I’m glad other ppl feel the same way.

I like when Tommy shoots the car in front of you when you play as Abby. Attracting the clickers just like he did earlier in the game when scouting with Ellie.
I got influenced by my brother's reactionary opinion back when this game came out, playing it now and i'm absolutely loving it, it's stunning and runs amazingly on the ps5. and I say this as someone with specific tastes that hasn't been a huge fan of heavily cinematic games ( I thought GoW 2018 was pretty mid but Ragnarok was a masterpiece imo)

I didn't like this game because it shot both of my parents in front of me in a alley after leaving the theater. Both of my parents were killed by this game. But I did inherit my father's wealth and I've used that money to never work again and spend most of my time clicking on every TLOU2 videos I can find and say how much I thought the story sucked. I will now dedicate the rest of my life debating anyone who thought the story was good.

I would be willing to be most of the people here have either already purchased the game, fan of Dunkey and just watch his stuff, or never played the game but joined the hate the game bandwagon without knowing they hate the game.

Dunkey I beat the remastered version of this game today so I can finally watch the video. I think when you say Abby is like Joel in her adventure, it really nails what makes the game work. The idea of tearing down the players preconceptions of who is good or bad even when the underlying groundwork is the same really shines thru. Great video

Most of the critics reviews are positive anyways, this has the highest number of GOTY awards. I saw Nakey Jakey's video , no game is perfect, but I liked TLOU2. I don't care if others are mad, I still had fun. Dunkey did talk about some problems you just didn't notice them cause of your hatred

I just finished this 30 plus hour long adventure game having managed to, if not avoid spoilers, have no memory of the game beyond the E3 trailer. It was released at peak unvaccinated COVID times and I was busy working and my children who are growing had taken over the PS4. With a week to myself and a PS5 acquired this past Christmas, I purchased the last of us part 2 and consumed it. It was amazing.
yeah, my reaction too. except I did know about the controversy, i just saw cool videos on the internet with the shootout compilations. didnt expect to really engage with the story. but i did. it was pretty good.
i recently finally played the game. a couple years ago I heard all the leaks and even watched people play disjointed parts of it. it never really gripped me watching others play. i had no idea if it was good or not but since EVERYONE was saying it was terrible, I figured that when I played it I would for sure find *something* about it that left a sour taste in my mouth. Instead, I left it wondering how everyone could possibly hate something like this. It was so much fun. I can't stop wanting to play it all over again. The story has imprinted on me. I genuinely loved the direction the story took and found it so compelling. I spent the whole time of ellie's 3 days waiting for the quick switch to abby since everyone acted like you barely were allowed to play as ellie. but by the time ellie's portion was nearing its end, I was genuinely thinking 'man I would really like to play as abby now, this ellie section has been LONG'. and it wasn't until abby's section that I really struggled to put the game down. i was craving to play every moment that I was away from my ps4. her story was new, refreshing, engaging, and I loved learning about her side of the story and lev. the seraphites were fun and interesting to fight. i dunno man. abby's playstyle was really great too. i was so shocked when she could go toe to toe w clickers fr like WHAT. also, i really liked the ending. it was just GOOD. i was incredibly baffled after finishing. I'm a big fan of this game.

Also saying "revenge is bad" removes every single bit of building the game does throughout the story and removes the entire second act's Seraphite vs Wolves thing you get to experience and how it changes and affects the character you play as. You can’t dictate the actions of the characters or change their destinies. You’re not the one steering the ship; you’re merely an observer. It’s more like watching a movie than playing a game. And that’s exactly why I love it-and why many players hate it. Even now, players complain about not being able to decide Abby’s fate, about not being able to kill her when Ellie has the chance. But they miss the larger point. This isn’t their story anymore-it’s Ellie’s. In that moment, the players are more frustrated with Ellie than with Abby, because they can’t control Ellie’s decisions. They can’t dictate her thoughts, her emotions, or her actions. If the game offered multiple-choice endings, it would dilute the profound emotional journey these characters go through. The weight of their decisions would be lost. Last of Us is a story for us to play, not control. It is to just shut up and observe this very human story about lost and grief.

Ah I see you didnt come across the alternate ending of last of us 2. It's normal to miss it, considering you have to find the little giraffe statue in the first level and proceed to place it on the alter in the last mission. It was quite unexpected to have the giraffe god descend from the clouds and wipe out the fungus and bring peace back to humanity.
I feel so bad for jumping on the hate train of this game, I just assumed since everyone disliked it that it was a shit game. I finally got around to playing it and when I got to the end, the game legit had me in tears like it might be my favorite cinematic game ever released. I fully recommend anyone who’s been avoiding the game because of it reputation to please give it a try like I did

Literally my experience. When this first came out I didn't like the game, that's because I was a snotty kid who still watched PewDiePie. Playing it years later and I was literally in shock by how good it was. I also really liked Abby's story despite what everyone thinks.

I think the gameplay and AI is criminally underrated for this game since the entire focus is on the storyline. The way stalkers work in game and in general enemy encounters are so damn dynamic you will be always on your toes. Stalkers should be the seed for next generation AI design of stealth enemies. Amazing.

Playing through the game a second time made me realize how much I care about the characters in the game. The scene with Joel and Ellie in the museum made me want a DLC that’s just Joel and Ellie hanging out and watching movies

You know when I first watched this video I thought to my self this guy is crazy. But 3 years later having had enough time to forget about all the spoilers and all the negativity I bought and played the game for myself and experience it blind. And having now finished it this guy was spot on.
I'm replaying it myself for the first time in years and also having a blast. It still feels like a cutting edge experience tbh. Why do you think people are so up in arms about the game?
@@smellyarmpit23 I honestly have no idea. I prepared a long comment speculating every possible reason but it was very long so I didn't bother posting it. To sum it up I think it's mainly 2 things. 1, people being hurt by Joel's death and 2 later being forced to play as the person who killed him. Not only that there was so much negativity and bad aura around the game a bunch of people I'm sure just followed the group instead of giving it a proper chance. I bet a lot of people would chanage their opinion on the game if they gave it a second chance, especially now thanks to hindsight. Personally, I was able to open myself up to it, and playing as Abby was honestly a stroke of genius and a big part of why I enjoyed the game so much.
Didn't have a Playstation at the time and didn't pay much attention to the game, just heard it was bad. I recently got a PS5 and gave it a try, and it completely blew me away.

Anytime someone brings up this point I always wonder if they ever take into account what occurs BEFORE they enter the house with Abby’s crew. Because it seems to me it’s always (conveniently) ignored. People act like in the house, surrounded by Abby’s crew, is the first time they give their names. It isn’t.
Joel and Tommy rescue Abby. Abby works alongside them to help fight off numerous infected. They’re stuck in a dire situation in desperate need of escape. Tommy then proceeds to tell her their names and ask for hers.
Do you not think, all things considered, that this is a situation in which it’s acceptable and even useful to know each other’s names? Fighting alongside someone in a fight or die situation is a pretty quick way to gain each other’s trust. At least to a name knowing level I’d say.
It’s only AFTER this that she suggests going to the house where her crew are. If Joel and Tommy suddenly decide to lie about their names whilst there then Abby would have called them out.

I had a friend who loved TLOU, and read all about TLOU2 spoilers. He was livid and felt like they ruined the series. I didn't read the spoilers but I heard how mad everyone was. Played the game on Day 1 and didn't stop until I beat it. I told him how good it was, and basically had to persuade him to play it; then he loved it.

They go to media outlets that agree with them, they watch negative reviews for games they hate and positive reviews for games they like. In this case him saying "people" means most people even though he doesn't literally say that. Uneducated people do not want to be told they are wrong so surround themselves with information that tells them they are right. I would be willing to be most of the people here have either already purchased the game, fan of Dunkey and just watch his stuff, or never played the game but joined the hate the game bandwagon without knowing they hate the game.
The Last of Us 2 is a paradox in the fact that it says it's the LAST of us yet there's a second one leading us to believe there's a Second of Us. 6/10 too many zombies.

Dunkey I beat the remastered version of this game today so I can finally watch the video. I think when you say Abby is like Joel in her adventure, it really nails what makes the game work. The idea of tearing down the players preconceptions of who is good or bad even when the underlying groundwork is the same really shines thru. Great video

I just finished this 30 plus hour long adventure game having managed to, if not avoid spoilers, have no memory of the game beyond the E3 trailer. It was released at peak unvaccinated COVID times and I was busy working and my children who are growing had taken over the PS4.
With a week to myself and a PS5 acquired this past Christmas, I purchased the last of us part 2 and consumed it.
It was amazing.
yeah, my reaction too. except I did know about the controversy, i just saw cool videos on the internet with the shootout compilations. didnt expect to really engage with the story.
but i did. it was pretty good.
I just finished the game for the first time, got a PS5 3 weeks ago and devoured LOU 1 and 2 in a row. Fucking masterpieces.

i recently finally played the game. a couple years ago I heard all the leaks and even watched people play disjointed parts of it. it never really gripped me watching others play. i had no idea if it was good or not but since EVERYONE was saying it was terrible, I figured that when I played it I would for sure find *something* about it that left a sour taste in my mouth.
Instead, I left it wondering how everyone could possibly hate something like this. It was so much fun. I can't stop wanting to play it all over again. The story has imprinted on me. I genuinely loved the direction the story took and found it so compelling. I spent the whole time of ellie's 3 days waiting for the quick switch to abby since everyone acted like you barely were allowed to play as ellie. but by the time ellie's portion was nearing its end, I was genuinely thinking 'man I would really like to play as abby now, this ellie section has been LONG'. and it wasn't until abby's section that I really struggled to put the game down. i was craving to play every moment that I was away from my ps4. her story was new, refreshing, engaging, and I loved learning about her side of the story and lev. the seraphites were fun and interesting to fight. i dunno man. abby's playstyle was really great too. i was so shocked when she could go toe to toe w clickers fr like WHAT. also, i really liked the ending. it was just GOOD. i was incredibly baffled after finishing. I'm a big fan of this game.

You can’t dictate the actions of the characters or change their destinies. You’re not the one steering the ship; you’re merely an observer. It’s more like watching a movie than playing a game. And that’s exactly why I love it-and why many players hate it.
Even now, players complain about not being able to decide Abby’s fate, about not being able to kill her when Ellie has the chance. But they miss the larger point. This isn’t their story anymore-it’s Ellie’s. In that moment, the players are more frustrated with Ellie than with Abby, because they can’t control Ellie’s decisions. They can’t dictate her thoughts, her emotions, or her actions. If the game offered multiple-choice endings, it would dilute the profound emotional journey these characters go through. Ah I see you didnt come across the alternate ending of last of us 2. It's normal to miss it, considering you have to find the little giraffe statue in the first level and proceed to place it on the alter in the last mission.
It was quite unexpected to have the giraffe god descend from the clouds and wipe out the fungus and bring peace back to humanity.
I feel so bad for jumping on the hate train of this game, I just assumed since everyone disliked it that it was a shit game. I finally got around to playing it and when I got to the end, the game legit had me in tears like it might be my favorite cinematic game ever released. I fully recommend anyone who’s been avoiding the game because of it reputation to please give it a try like I did

Literally my experience. When this first came out I didn't like the game, that's because I was a snotty kid who still watched PewDiePie. Playing it years later and I was literally in shock by how good it was. I also really liked Abby's story despite what everyone thinks.
