- I used this Banksia NUT and made a mobile phone case. This was a fun way to show you how to make your own mobile phone case . I used epoxy resin and made a mold to out this NUT inside. it turned out pretty cool in the end. Check out how i did it.

Very cool Banksia "Nut" phone case...fun fact: the banksia usually only drops the seeds from the cone during a bushfire, as it requires the extreme heat to open the seed pods on the cone, and takes about 10 years to reach maturity before it flowers and forms the cone, and the leaves are kinda spiky around the edges...we had an "old man" banksia in the backyard behind the dunny when I was a kid...

Actually it's heat and the smoke that makes them do it. People have come up with a way to reproduce the same conditions so they can grow them....sorry plants are kinda my job.

Funniest nut ever. I used to think it was covered in little mouths when I was a kid lol I found them a tad scary. It’s a banksia nut for anyone who doesn’t know. I think it would be fun to have a Challenge Charlie once a month when in your own workshops you make your own version of the same suggested item eg. make an eggcup & spoon. Ooh, check you out on the dance floor!
