I think all the other comments beat me to it. If you find that you have a ton of ammo left over for shotty before resupplies, use a stronger overclock instead of mini shells. The extra ammo doesn't help when you have to use 2 or 3 or more to kill a grunt. Magnetic pellet alignment actually can help time to kill because of the boon to weakpoint hits, let's you stun, and can help you land turret hits at longer distances. Oh and maybe one day they'll fix the armor break bug on grenade launcher. However, if you run the incendiary mod on hyper prop, one shotting sentinel bots and caretaker tentacles feels really, really satisfying.
pretty solid build, the one shown seems to completely maximize the utilization of turret whip. In my opinion, the breech cutter is a more versatile option as a generalist weapon because it combines single target damage against stuff like praetorians with crowd control and ammo efficiency.
You are probably going to get a lot of people telling you to switch away from armor break to heat damage on the PGL. Be ready for that lol. Mainly because heat doesn't lose you any damage and can overheat bots instantly, whereas the armor breaking is bugged, and only takes off armor, not penetrating through the armor to do full damage as is the main point of armor breaking.
@@ocomolinaehain1795 it's supposed to also damage enemies through the armor (in most cases). The PGL hyperprop armor break, which doesn't damage through armor, is extremely irrelevant. You either kill the target regardless (like guards) or need 2 shots for things like brundles. It doesn't matter if their armor is gone. The only situation in which the current improper armor break of the hyperprop might do something, is against the twins, and praetorians. In those cases, it might beneficial to break the armor for follow up shots. But against Praetorians, the pgl has so much fear, than 90 percent of the time the first shot will make the Prae turn and run away from you regardless, so armor break wont do anything for you. All in all, extra fore damage to finish off almost damaged enemies, and to be op against bots it's WAY better than an almost non-existent benefit that the bugged armor breaking gives you.
I have a build I call the flying stunner, running warthog with stunner OC and grenade launcher with RJ250 OC. Disabled inertia inhibitor is a must. This build is great for point extraction cos of the mobility.
I agree, I think Explosive Chemical Rounds LOKI is much better generalist weapon than the shotgun, not to mention Mini Shells seem like worse-than-nothing overclock. Breach Cutter or Shard diffractor seems more flexible than Hyper Propellant is too. I can see the build struggling with self defence against harder pushes/ambushes.
Cool build, definitely going to try it out! Though I think that Light-Weight Magazines could potentially be better for your shogun due to the cooldown on turret whip. Otherwise great!
I'm switching from a driller main the an engie main because I remembered he has a pump action shotgun, and that's the one gun I've vowed to take at least 80% of the time in games. The pump action is my boy, and I'll never ever leave it's side again
During turret whip, the turrets don't stop firing regular bullets. Use Gemini and Defender System. If you're worried about coverage, have 2 facing each other and bam you have 360° coverage with better ammo economy AND dps than a single upgraded Mk2 turret
It's always a good day when you post it's an even better day when I realize that the video is basically a carbon copy of my own favorite engi build and I now feel vindicated knowing that I can use this video as proof that my build is better than my friends.
That's the awesomeness of DRG. Everyone can have their own opinion of what the ultimate build is. The Engineer is also my favorite and my ultimate is the SmRt Trigger LOK 23222, Light Weight Cases Breach 11115, Gemini defender turrets and SSGs.
Ah the build I had on my Engi for a long time early on in the Game’s life. It’s a very solid general build. That can deal with any situation. There might be a few differences cause I went full auto to just pump lead into a big if I wanted to. And the hyper propellant was an instant boss destroyer that comes in clutch. Nowadays I switch weapons around and prefer other combos to get the most damage out of engi. But this is probably the best build for beginners.
I like this build and it TEARS up industrial sabotage missions solo or in a group (with the heat damage), but I still think an ECR LOK-1 and Inferno Breach Cutter with SSG grenades is the best build for most mission types besides industrial sabotage. Gemini system with the quick deploy also means almost constant Turret Whip shots if you whip one and then wait a second and whip the other since it recharges in 3 seconds.
I just started using this build recently (except with extra platforms since repellent does nothing, and fire grenade since armor doesn't work.) And it's actually made engineer fun! It really dosent have ammo issues and the only weakness is the turret setup. But this is my first time with turret whip and it's so good! Even the shotgun feels good enough for most cases on haz3.
Insect repellant does work, you probably just need to watch a video on how it works. It works as a deterrant, not a 100% cure for bugs. For example you can make bugs walk around them so they get clumped up in choke points. But you can't use them to stop them entirely. You have to leave a hole in the lines, or else the bugs will ignore them.
@@bluedistortions Even if that were true, having extra platforms has saved me more times than being able to move bugs a bit more. (It's also why lures are one of the worst grenades compared to the sheer damage of shredders)
Interestingly enough this is almost the exact build I use as my "generalist" Engineer. It's nice to have some validation that the build works and it works in the role I use it in. I unfortunately don't have Minishells yet, but at least now I know what I should use as my overclock. Difference in my build is one that somebody has already pointed out is that I use heat instead of armour break. I also tend to prefer grenades other than lure and a more active double sentry setup but for general swarm control lure does seem better. Great video!
Season 5 weapon maintenance system encourages players to try every weapon. Unfortunately I was neglecting engie's OG weapons, and I tried a bunch of different builds with them that went badly (for instance, getting team kills because of the area of effect of the PGL). This build worked very well. You can't stray away from you sentry though, turret whip is essential - not a problem, just something to adapt to. Hyperpropellent is so fun, deleting Menaces, Stingtail, Wardens, Spetic Spreaders with one or two shots.
I made a few tweaks based on my experience. Since I don't feel safe away from the sentry, because of the lack of crowd control without turret whip, I chose Quick Deploy on tier 2 gear mod over Expanded Ammo Bags. I'm also replacing mini-shells, not sure with what, I'll try out every OC.
Stubby 11211 w/ Em Refire Booster- short/med range and electrical dmg over time. Electrocute large enemies and run away if needed Shard Defract 21111 for precision. Melts mostly anything and kills spitballers before they shoot on haz4 This build works wonders for ammo efficiency and is great if you are good at hitting weakspots. Stubby works better by bursting instead of rapid fire I feel like this one is well-balanced overall for most missions. Still prefer Loki with ECR and breach for dreadnaught missions. Explosions work well on Hiveguard
Hyper propellant is a fantastic Overclock. I do though want to get Fat Boy and RJ250 Compound and try those out, but this build is pretty good. It gives me the idea that this is the “Gigachad Engineer” build, for giggles obviously.
