The arch wiki guide is outdated and I'm confused on how to solve this. I just feel its better to update the process

Did you need to do any type of updates or change anything on the Chromebook before starting this? Everything worked until the "vmc destroy termina" which seemed to not do anything. Then I get an error with "vmc start termina". I have to manually start the linux environment by clicking the icon for the terminal. Then if I check the container, the original container is still there. My Chromebook is an HP x360 with core i3, 8gb ram, and ssd storage. Not sure if I'm missing a step or they just don't want you to change the linux distribution on this but I much prefer Arch over Debian. I can make due if Debian is my only choice but kind of bought this specifically to install Arch on it.

@@alex_schwartz There’s also PROJECT CROISSANT on XDA that tries to replicate these features as well on any Chromium image/derivative. OR Project Brunch on github for full ChromeOS on x86. Though it’s way more work than just installing stock FydeOS.

is it possible to add storage to a linux environment using an sd card? Or any other form of storage media, like a NAS or usb drive? I want to be able to expand the amount of apps that I can install on the linux environment. I have all 3 of these things, a NAS, a 512GB sdcard (preferred) and a 1tb usb disk....
Would you know of any way to increase the storage for installing apps on the linux environment? Preferably on arch....

Chrome OS is leaner, faster and more efficient, also considered to have more polish and be more secure. Because it is less demanding on hardware, it requires even less to run well than Linux while still managing to look nice. Take all that, add the ability to install pretty much any Linux or android software you want and why wouldn't you want to do it? When it comes to actual chrome books especially, it runs better than overwriting it with Linux plus the hardware is set up to take advantage of chrome os's design. For example it runs two physically separate instances, your live session and one for receiving updates, if one of the updates causes a serious problem it will jump back to the first instance you were using.

no because no graphics acceleration in the linux vm yet afaik. if yoy try it will say could not find vulkan compatible graphics or something like that. open gl games would probably work though, but the proformance would not be as good as running linux natively afaik. if it being honest i barely understand it myself

At 3:00 Chris pulls the Arch container down. You should just need to replace 'archlinux/current' with 'ubuntu/focal' or whatever version of Ubuntu you want.
