That 2002 Raiders team was the best collection of 35+ year old 12+ year vets beasting on the league.
They were the successors to the early/mid 1990s Chiefs with Joe Montana and Marcus Allen
Absolutely. They had a chip on their shoulder
My cousin use to bust my ass with the raiders in 02’ Madden lmao
That 02 squad was stacked. Rich gannon league MVP. Charlie garner leading rusher, pro bowl online, hall of fame receivers in brown and rice. And a pretty competent jerry porter. Bill Romo at linebacker, two hall of fame DBs in rod and Charles woodson. And a pretty competent linebacker core and front d. Not to mention the special teams with Shane lechner and sea bass. It's a shame they had to face their former coach in the big game.
And on Madden 2003, they would all retire at the same time in franchise mode after year 1 lol. They went from great to suck in a year, sort of like real life.
The Last Great Raiders QB. Thanks for Everything you did for Us Rich.
Truth! DC was semi-OK....but not in the club.
@@kendallevans4079yeah that’s why Carr owns most of passing records for Raider’s franchise. He was ok lol
@@libertas_americana Ya, ask Marino how much those records matter vs actually winning.
Hell, sadly the last time they were any good. I knew after that year it was over for them for a long time.
Gruden was also the last real coach Raiders had.....
Rich Gannon was the reason the Raiders won. His commitment to be the best, his willingness to drive everybody, once we lost him we lost our culture.
As a Chiefs fan of 35 years, this pains me lol. He is 100% right, we could've won the Super Bowl that year. Happy for him and the Raiders though in retrospect, although don't tell anyone I said that.
Gannon had one of the best pump fakes in the game, was able to sell the short pass to allow a deep threat WR to get open and in a great position to make the catch. It's been said in the comments previously, Gannon is the last great Raiders QB. Wish we could have won that Super Bowl, not just for Rich, but for the entire Raider Nation!
Rich Gannon and that Raiders offense were potent
My guy my favorite raider of all time Rich Gannon he made me a die hard raider growing up 20 mins south of the coliseum as a young kid I loved Gannon and I loved my Oakland Raiders
Thank You Rich All you did for The Silver N Black 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Yup and it’s unfortunate that Al Davis screwed him over for getting rid of the head coach who trained Rich Gannon to be an elite qb, and even more unfortunate that he had to go up against his master in superbowl 37. Al Davis’s ego robbed Rich Gannon out of his Championship ring. Gannon going up against his former head coach who trained him was like Danny Larusso from Karate Kid going up against his sensei Mr Miyagi, and we already know who’s gonna win. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
YESSSS. My Original favorite quarterback
That 3/4 release was SICK
Raiders royalty Rich "the cannon" Gannon. What a legend
Thanks Rich, you provided so many cherished memories.
My roommate was a huge Raiders fan and was beyond happy when they got Rich Gannon. He knew Gannon would do well there
Dude lost the SB to the Bucs n Threw 5 Picks, 3 of em were Pick6’s 💀
@@mikediaz1kNobody was beating the Bucs that year and they had one of the best defenses in NFL History alongside the 1985 Bears, 2001 Ravens, 2013 Seahawks and 2015 Broncos.
@@mikediaz1kwhats your point? We all know about the super bowl doesn't take away from the fact how great of a QB Rich Gannon was with the Raiders
The way Marty Schottenheimer kept running Elvis Grbac out there when Gannon was CLEARLY better than him was absolute madness. It was happening even before Grbac got hurt.
The Chiefs were always chokers from Montana until Mahomes. Regular season kangs, lose in the divisional round.
Upper management probably was controlling that
Marty just sucked...led San Diego to a 14-2 record and was STILL fired FFS. Probably hella toxic BTS
I feel like Warrick Dunn, Rich Gannon etc. would have gotten their own A Football Life episodes. I guess new a A Football Life episodes aren't being made anymore?
They’re avoiding them due to lawsuits for concussions so the new ones they have to pretend concussions never happened
@@brentjansen166source?
I just noticed Justin Jefferson is already getting "A football life" episode
Man, I love Rich! The last great Raiders QB. Raiders need a QB with his grit, intelligence and athleticism again.
Rich is a Raiders legend, i remember the Raider Nation just loved Rich and it can be tough being a Raiders QB at times
I know people look at his weapons and Oline, but the way he commanded the team was truly what got us so far for those years.
Loved, loved, LOVED him as our QB with the Raiders.
Great job on this, Rich Gannon was/is absolute quality.
Former MVP and Absolute legend
His stats were nuts with the raiders.
classic and relatable story of being overlooked and then finally given a chance and he exceeds any expectations
Rich Gannon was a warrior. The last great Raider QB 🏴☠️
I remember John Madden praising him as a rookie when he was with the Vikings. They really blew it when they let him go
As A Former Raiders Fan Rich Gannon Was A Right Handed Ken Stabler For The Raiders
Damn straight! But why "former"? No longer a fan?
Former?
Favorite quarterback of all time. Those 2000 through 2003 "Oakland" Raiders were awesome. Rich was slinging it to Tim Brown, Jerry Rice, Jerry Porter, ect. And Rich was mobile too even if he was in his mid to upper 30s
Now we have another former Delaware QB Joe Flacco in his 17th season at 38 years young, having a career renaissance in Cleveland.
Last time the Raiders had a true commitment to excellence
thank you Rich!!!
Always liked Gannon. I would trade for him when I was playing Madden.
I’m a Broncos fan, Gannon was a treat to watch. Best sidearm mechanics in the game. His 2000 stats are better than the Mvp year he had. The year 2000 he had could stack up against anybody in any era. 28-11 pass 529 rush 4 TD
lets see the full throwback highlight vid
THE CANNON! (Every mixtape ever)
Rich Gannon was and is one of my favorite players of all time.
My friends and I used to call Rich “The Matrix” because he would move so smoothly around the pocket avoiding the rush. Made it look easy.
Last QB we Raider fans had full confidence in. We haven't found his replacement yet.
A QB that can throw and run. He could do it all, the complete Quarter Back. The Raiders miss you Rich(The Cool)Gannon😎
I was his right tackle at Delaware, great job Rich!
wish there would be a longer feature on gannon. he was a very good qb
To this day I still don't understand why the Chiefs went with Grbac over Gannon.
Hated him cause he always beat my Titans but much respect to Rich Gannon that side arm release was different
I was at the game when he got hurt. Truly the end of an era.
Can’t believe that was 20 years ago. I remember that ‘02 raiders team. It sucked Bill Callahan screwed up that Super Bowl week
Not to mention Barrett Robbins wasn't cut off by any bartender!
And al Davis getting rid of gruden the year earlier after the snow job game
@@kendallevans4079How much u wanna bet dat Gruden ain't set up Barrett fa dat falk cuz the same thing had happened a couple a season ago where he showed up all drunk but still played. I bet he sicked a hooka on Robbins n dat was dat cuz he knew dat was his weakness
@@TownBizz-r1d Try that again in English, we're not all pretend "gangstas"🤡
He was really good. It's a shame he got caught in bad luck playoffs.
Yeah he got knocked out of the 2000 afc championship game, then the tuck rule game, and then losing the Super Bowl to the Bucs and his former coach.
Dats a messed up 3yr run den by den u old n beat up cuz his shoulder got hit by Denver if im right on MNF n Tuiassosopo came n n we were 3-4 n needed ta get ta 500 n lost dat game n it was all downhill from there@@jeremykrause153
As a Broncos fan, I always enjoyed watching Rich Gannon play. I never understood why the Chiefs didn't go with him.
Rich Gannon Fun Fact: Rich won Pro Bowl MVP back to back years and could of won the 3rd but you could tell even he didn’t want another vehicle lol. The man was better than advertised.
Man I miss them days
Die hard 49ers fan. Started watching avidly in 2000. Rich Gannon is one of the 🐐’s.
Except during that SB lol
The disrespect to this man, I swear - some coaches are always in their heads, choosing loyalty over obvious results and actual talent. I always liked Rich and his run on the Raiders was epic. They should have won that Super Bowl, their coach sabotaged them and didn't change any of Gruden's original offensive signals. They also should have gone to the Tuck Rule Super Bowl, Tom and the Cheatriots made sure to steal that one too. Gannon could easily have 2 rings and be considered a HOFer if things could have been slightly different.
The 2001 Raiders would have gotten blown out by the Rams if they went to the Superbowl. The Raiders complain about the tuck rule which was standard at the time; they never mention the Patriots were the #2 seed in the playoffs; the 2001 Raiders were overrated.
Raiders 2000- 02 got robbed shoulda had at least 1 SB win
Rich Gannon was the best looking QB in the Nfl until Tom Brady came around then Gannon was number 2. Gannons Wikipedia pic is very sexy.
Dude got great set of hair I think him and Pat riley thats awesome
I had an Rich Gannon action figure with him standing on a patch of grass and I would be able to rotate his throwing arm.
Yea had the same mine he was on the Chiefs and I have the Willie Roaf to go with it too lol
Gannon got screwed by the Chiefs. I am glad he got his shot with the Raiders. Even though I hate the Raiders I always pulled for him.
Who remembers when Anthony Dorsette blocked a field goal to go to OT and beat The Jets? That’s when I knew The Raiders had turned it around
That was the 49ers in 2000. And they came back to throw the game winning bomb to Tim Brown.
The last true Raiders quarterback, guy was awesome for us. Derek Carr and his CARRdashian fans can go kick rocks.
Before Peyton Manning was running the offense pre snap, there was Rich Ganon.
And also Jim Kelly
Rich and Manning never played on the same team?
@@AmirKhan-yv8jm Kelly was a Bill his entire career, what are you talking about?
@@kendallevans4079 I meant that Jim Kelly ran the offense pre-snap with the Bills no huddle lol
I remember Gannon getting benched n Minnesota for playoffs game vs Redskins for Salisbury
Vikings legend Rich Gannon
The GOAT.RRRRRAAAAAIDDDERSS!
Jon Gruden made Rich successful but also ruined him when he left Oakland.
Gannon used to call Raven games like he bet against them lmfao.
Fa real skip da Ravens!!
I wanna watch a full St. Joe's Prep game with Rich Gannon as the starting quarterback now.
🐐🐐🐐
I forgot when Gannon was set for Salisbury. As a young Vikings fan, I thought that move was so stupid
Salisbury went on to "Battlebots" fame!!!
They failed to mention Pro Bowl MVP😂... after the super bowl btw 😢...all bs aside miss the Gannon days of the Raiders!
Wasnt the most athletic but he was a dawg
haven’t seen a raider qb in my lifetime have complete command
I remember Gannon had a great year that year he took Raiders to the SB. Then the coach changed game plan last minute and it was too much for one of their star linemen and lineman went awol before the big game and Raiders got soundly defeated.
Yeah they originally were going to go for a run based strategy and then totally changed the game plan to a heavy passing strategy.
It was Barrett Robbins, he was the center. He went to Tijuana the day before and went on a total bender. Could not play the next day, which just happened to be Super Bowl Sunday
Chuck set dat all up along w Callahan super Raider traitors cuz dey hated Al Davis!! Str8 up
How did that 2002 team NOT win a SB?
They ran into an all time great defense!
@@AmirKhan-yv8jmdat n Callahan threw the game ta his buddy Chucky ta get back at Al Davis str8 up !! Ask Touchdown Timmy Brown n Rice it was obvious
Plus Oakland shutout da same Bucs team 45-0 a n 99 so it wasn't like dey were dat much more superior
Atleast they went to the Big Game Bro lol! You can't win championships if your not in the playoffs every year to get it! The Raiders Really haven't done that since then
Rich Gannon Was Backup Quarterback For Minnesota Vikings From 1987 To 1993 Thanks For Uploading
And people say Marty Scottenheimer deserves to be in the hall of fame 😂😂
Crazy how they barely spoke about the raiders in this piece considering he was most successful with them. There’s that media hate for the raiders.
Ya know they should’ve won a SB, but their coaching cost them. Made me happy, because my Bucs finally got the to promise land, and won!
🙌
I love how they basically are saying the NFL is scripted and yet idiots keep thinking its worth wasting their time watching
Wild.. if you're the number 1 team why would you swap QBs?
Easy. Management pays big money for their toys and they want to play with them. Wasnt Marty's call in all likelihood.
When Rich Gannon was with us in Kansas City and I blamed Marty for not starting him and He was winning games Against good teams and beat Denver that year and Of course they site down for no reason and could of won super bowl for us that year
Richard gere as an nfl qb
Rich is not a bad looking guy lol
He’s still handsome!
Definitely more so that bald guy lol
Only 3 Raiders won MVP in Oak/L.A. Snake 74, Allen 85, Gannon 02 jus so ya know
My only memory is a backup for the Vikings.
Dissapointed as a chiefs fan to see what we did to gannon.
This is the saddest video I've watched on TH-cam. Why do some people not just get the recognition they deserve?
Forget Dennis Green!
turned pancake by Siragusa
Yeah but who’s alive still?
You know why rich Gannon was released by raiders because he was hit helmet to helmet and messed up his life career
Wish the chiefs kept him.
Hall of Fame
Rich Gannon, a great backup and no coaches see nothing in him. Gotta be joking.. that is why you see these coaches are not in the hall of fame
U think dat Chucky deserves a HOFer jacket?? Hell Naw!@
You have a better backup quarterback whom does that. Give me examples bruh
Soon to be purdy
Early 2000s raiders are quite the story
Is he Matt Ryan?
Den da same thing w Grbac
yet another QB the Redskins let get away
poor rich. could have been in the hall..
I respected how he became one of the best quarterbacks in the league later in his career but I’ve heard he was not an easy guy to work with.
Such a shame the Chiefs wasted his talent.
Gannon just got robbed at every turn.
