When Angelina is on the screen, even if she isn’t speaking, you are just drawn to her. She is the Marilyn and Elizabeth of our time. She played Thena beautifully. And she proved she’s still THE female action star of our times. The woman is 45 years old and she’s still got it. She really knows how to move her body in an action sequence. Just superb.

I was impressed with Thena when she fought with Ikaris for the first time. She doesn't need to defeat him but she only occupied him while doing uni-mind later on.

I’m not sure why this movie didn’t do well in theaters. I went in with no expectations, and absolutely loved it.

Characters were already cultivated during the first 2 films plus the fact that several known Marvel actors were reprising their iconic roles from previous Spiderman films. Eternals on the other hand are still unknown and this is their first movie in the franchise so yeah.
I think it's because, its a different type of Marvel movie, People go the theaters to watch an Marvel with High expectations and when their aren't expectations are fulfilled they start shit talking about the movie. Imagine if Avengers Endgame ended differently people would be absolutely flaming the actors, the directors and Marvel in general.
@@mindstone6883 Not a lot of people knows about GOTG before their movie too, they also introduced a lot of characters at the same time in the movie yet they executed that perfectly and now everybody loves them.
I’m not saying Eternals was a bad movie…imo, it was just…okay for me. Visual and sound effects were top tier but it really suffers from pacing, character development and there’s just too much going on at the same time.
Angelina Jolie is the right person to play Thena. She is one of the most skilled members of the Eternals. Her powers is to make handheld weapons used by cosmic energy she can think of😎🔥

One thing about Angelina's portrayal that I loved and she spoke to was her feminine approach. It's makes her such an elegant warrior and therefore her movements just feel so flawless.

Ikr, outside of Makkari I think they had to tone her powers down so she doesn’t outshine the others especially Icarus. If she was comparable in power or if her weapons could harm him easily then she definitely would have won. That or Thena just is one of the weaker fighters overall. Her, Gemma, and Salma’s acting completely carried the mess of a movie, I just wish Thena had more screen time. I want to see her in a more serious fight though where her skill really bridges the gap
Well she is the most proficient fighter amongst the group. Her combat skills are unmatched. She can take on Thanos head to head but not alone if that makes sense. She can give Thanos a huge struggle. But his physical strength would eventually overwhelm her. But the Eternals don’t fight alone thankfully.

Her fighting choreo is very fluid, its almost gorgeous to watch.
Also the switching back and forth to different weapons is very nice.
And I love how she's so skilled with all her different weapons. It really feels like a unique fighting style with each weapon she uses. Very nice choreography

Thena can easily be in the top 10 MCU heroes with the best fighting skills. Her fighting style is so smooth and graceful, like she's dancing with weapons. We need to see her facing more characters, just imagine the choreographies.

But the visual effects (CGI) looks fake. There's no weight in those scenes. Some of those scenes are really good, but most of them are meh. Again, stunning. Beautiful. Cinematography is high quality. But not the overall execution.

Thena's fighting style is really amazing and complex to deal with it, she always change her cosmic weapons every second during mid fight that is very hard for anyone to predict like changing shield into a spear axe for close range and power, if Ikaris didn't have strong endurance she would have cut him like butter easily
It opens up huge potential for her character since the weapons manifest is limited to her imagination. She could technically manifest projectile arrows to give her long range attacks.

For me, Thena will be a better replacement as Prime Eternals after Ajak than Sersi. But due to her unstable mental health condition (Mahd Wy'ry Disorder), it prevents her from taking Ajak's place as a leader of Eternals (Prime Eternals).

I guess it’s because the pace and mood of this one are really different from others marvel movies. I was a bit sick of superhero movie after Endgame, but l like this one a lot. There’re so many characters and information, the length is reasonable. I felt like the characters could be developed more, that deviant had potential. The movie is pretty good as an introduction to something bigger. Probably average marvel audience is not expecting this.
There’s a lot I enjoyed about this film but there’s plenty to dislike about it. That being said, I definitely think it’s getting way too much criticism for what was a decent and overall enjoyable superhero film.
Things I liked
-Production value was amazing. Great CGI, beautiful shots
-This partly due to the above but it had a different vibe the typical Marvel film, and although I enjoy the typical, it was refreshing to see something more artsy and overall serious even if it had comedic moments
-Ikaris and Cersei. Liked their romance and loved how it served as the climax of plot. Ikaris not being able to kill Cersei and remembering how their love is entwined with the existence of Earth was heart wrenching and probably my favorite part of film
-Ikaris in general was a good villain, understandable motivations and someone who despite doing bad things, clearly cares about the other eternals
-Liked the variety of powers and how they were all useful in different ways
Things I didn’t like
-Tiamut’s emergence didn’t make sense. The process of his birth is supposed to destroy earth but he already starts emerging when Cersei turns him to marble and the world is fine so I don’t see why the rest of him emerging would change that unless his body is DRASTICALLY bigger and out of proportion
-The eternals kill Tiamut and there isn’t much reflection of the consequence of those actions. Yes Arishem comes to potentially punish them but I don’t see the eternals themselves thinking about how they now definitely caused billions of life forms to not exist. The screenplay should’ve stuck with the putting Tiamut sleep plan (therefore the eternals would be hampering with the cycle of life rather than straight up stopping it) or put in the eternals actually mourning the harm they’ve done for the sake of earth.
-Dane sucks. Classic example of telling and not showing.
Something that doesn’t really bother me but I think probably is part of why the movie is being poorly received is because some see it as “woke” culture and revising at work. A lot of the eternals used to at least present as white. Again, this isn’t something I personally care about but I know this is the type of thing that tends piss off some people, especially long time fans of a series

I’ve always thought Angelina Jolie would be a perfect role as the Goddess Athena if there ever was a movie with Greek gods. Whenever I picture how Athena looks like, Angelina’s face is the first thing that comes to mind
She is Athena without the “A”, as she said it in the movie.
Can we just appreciate the fact that Ikaris is intimidated by Thena the most. In their fights where there were 3 vs Ikaris, Ikaris tries to disable Thena first always and ends up forgetting to engage the others which lead to him being hit. Really satisfying.
Makkari is probably the most dangerous tho tbh

I was so impressed with how Thena was such a fleshed out, stoic character that we wanted to root for and felt for even though she didn’t really have that much screen time or even solo screen time 👏🏼 Angelina did an incredible job with Thena, you can see that even though she’s not the star of the film, she cared a lot about it and the character
I want to see Thena and Hela fight. They were both played by really good actresses and their powers are similar

Hela is far too strong for any of the Eternals, Thor looks like he's a bit stronger than Ikaris but he was struggling against Hela even with Valkyrie's help.

This movie really shows diversity and point out that nobody is perfect, even for beings like Eternals. This may not be the best marvel movie but the cinematography, the CGI, messages and representations from each characters are perfect. Eternals became my number one movie when its first trailer came out. I specifically adore Thena, not because she’s beautiful or potrayed by Angelina Jolie (it was the other way around, Thena made me love Jolie), but she represents someone with Mental Issue sincerely in this movie. Thena is the Eternal who suffers Mahd Wy’ry (fractured memory and hallucinations, closest to Schizophrenia in human), became afraid of hurting her fellow Eternals, doubting herself whether she can believe her true self. On the other side, she’s a very strong warrior.
This screams loud about someone (whether they suffer with mental illness or they are just a regular person) can be perfect outside but broken inside, they can be strong and fragile in the same time. Angelina herself had PTSD years ago and talked about it with Chloe, which then became one of the reason to develop Thena’s character from Angelina’s real experience and personality making her the perfect woman who potrays the warrior. I personally really attach to her because I feel like I can see myself inside her. Me, myself, developed mental illness and suffers from it for such a long time (I have Borderline Personality Disorder, Depression and symptoms of Bipolar) since I was around 13 years old until now (21) mainly from my unhealthy school and family environment. Thena and Angelina Jolie became the only woman figure I look up to from the time this movie released. I never look up to someone (even my parents, haha) for my whole life until I saw them.

There is so much story and character development in this movie. Completely undeserved hate against this movie because so much of the story flew over their heads. I feel so much for Ikarus in this story and the struggle here. Angelina played Thena with such Grace and elegance while maintaining her warrior spirit. Brilliant.

Never heard of this character until this movie, but absolutely fell in love with her and Angelina was the perfect casting choice
Eternals are not very well known, Marvel must have shown the Celestial before the eternals, so they development would be welcome. Also this is not what really happens, Tiamult known as the sleeping celestial was a leader and was betrayed by Arishem and the horde, due damage suffered he stayed sleeping. Also is true Celestial are born on planet destruction and Galactus role is to prevent them from being born by consuming planets with their seeds.
A lot of people claimed that Ikaris is stronger than her weapons but he’s clearly not. She can control the “cutting strength” of her blades. That’s why when she quickly expanded it while it was in his grasp he let go right away. Obviously her blades can cut through even the strongest characters bc she cut through the monster at the end.
Also, when they fought Ikaris I don’t think anyone was trying to kill him 100%. And Ikaris wasn’t trying to kill them either.
Event tho they're fighting they still got some kind of family relay? Idk but yk💀
Maybe Makkari was trying to seriously hurt him but yes the others weren't not trying to kill him just contain him

I loved her portrayal of Thena. Angelina has always been my top fan cast for Wonder Woman, so it was nice finally getting to see her as a bad ass goddesses of battle

As a comic book fan and a comic book movie fan Angelina Jolie was really dope in this.. I think and also know she could carry her own stand alone movie with this character. And i also don’t know why this movie was so hated. The movie was visually beautiful.

I thought she was given enough? Killed the main deviant, fought ikaris, and was the one going insane. Not bad for a movie with that many characters to introduce

She is basically The Wonder Woman of the team. As fast as Makkari is, or as powerful as Sersi, Ajak, Ikaris and Druig. Thena's speed, reflex and fighting abilities are unmatched. I wonder what she can do when she is at her peak.

I’m the comics, all the Eternals have the same baseline powers. Strength, durability, speed, etc. But they each have an ability like what the movie shows that each of them excel at better. Sersei and her transmutation powers can’t be matched by Thena or any other Eternal. Just like the laser beams Ikaris uses can be beaten by other Eternals. I believe that they are the same in the MCU. We just haven’t seen them in their full glory yet. Some other factors are at play preventing them from being at fullest potential. Maybe Arishem is to blame. Maybe they do evolve the more they use their powers. We have to wait and see.

We should have got a series, would love to see more of Thena kicking butt, and her relationship with Gilgamesh, but even though how the plot was executed wasn't good the vfx and fight scenes were great

They are both ridiculously powerful. Both are actual Goddesses with immeasurable strength and battle experience. But Thena can create and manipulate Cosmic energy at will, heal with Cosmic Energy at will and she has been alive for 7,000 years fighting nothing but giant Demigods with super strength like the Deviants. Thena wins on strength and battle experience alone. The fact that she creates Cosmic Energy on top of all that, is too OP.
@@TonyLeviosa I also feel like thenas agility gives her more of an advantage. The way she moves makes it hard for people to block her attacks. Hard to say tho . But I think hela would hold her own, esp if they fought on Asgard. She was commander and helped Odin conquer the nine realms. She was stabbed multiple times and it didn’t even phase her. She also destroyed mjolner, wiped out the Valkyrie single-handedly and can pull her weapons out of thin air like thena. Thena I think only fights close combat and hela could be versatile. In any case it would be a great battle to see.
Hela one shots. Thena got one shot by Gilgamesh and got wrecked by Ikaris. Hela stomped Thor. Different tiers dude
Hela is gonna win because she has more impressive feats, thena doesn't. This movie just didn't show it. Hela crushed Thor's hammer like it was nothing and also she is more versatile in weapon making and can send like a whole lot flying at Thena. Thena could be more powerful but this movie just doesn't show it. For now, Hela is clapping easily
I want to see Thena Vs Thor. The Goddess of War vs The God Of Thunder. Basically Shazam vs Wonder Woman in all their glory.
I swear she’s so good at being a bad ass in movies like this and Tomb Raider that i am convinced she can really whoop a persons ass.
