This is by far the most badass display of a speedster on screen for me. Her movement feels like she actually has weight and momentum behind her actions and not just gliding around. She feels fast but also strong.

@@ver_nickthat’s because every scene in cw flash’s show is (more often than not) in 3rd person and when they have the slow mo scenes it shifts into 1st person or helps the viewer understand what is going on down to the second in 3rd person :the flash the eternals however is in 2nd person and has no need to do so (and also some people find it cool and it helps them grasp the action)

Speedster powers are so much better well explained and exemplified throughout the decades old runs of "The Flash." But, this terrible movie showcases speedster powers, and what they should look like, better than anything I've ever seen. I'd love a Makkari movie done with an experienced writing team and a director who has a solid vision and a good story to tell.
The flash is a more interesting character. Young Justice / Justice League / any animated dc Justice league movie is better than her. Marvel is so woke they had to make her black & mute 😭

in every combat makkari always make sure to evacuate the people first before completely involving herself in battle, even during a fight she always do her best to save her friends. she's selfless and strong and those two things made her a very crucial part of the eternals.

She was able to hit a multi ton monster so hard it destroyed a building, i like how she utilized her speed in combat to deal insane striking ability, best and most formidable speedsters in live action easy, that's not counting her insane durability and strength even without the speed stuff
I always tell everyone, speed characters by default should be super tough and strong or the would not be able to achieve and survive those speeds in first place.
Lauren Ridloff is so cool for playing Makkari. She is deaf and can't hear the loud noises, but she can communicate with her fellow Eternals using sigh language. Makkari had super speed so she can run around the world in 30 seconds.
She's not actually a glass cannon, which fast characters are usually, she's durable and strong too. Like when they categorized the eternals on warriors and thinkers, she's a warrior. Can't wait to see more of her..

They are all much more durable, the Eternals can take a lot more damage than any regular superhero. They weigh a lot more than humans just like Asgardians and they are far stronger than even Spiderman.

It makes sense that she's actually incredibly physically strong, since her bones, muscles, and ligaments would need to be able to withstand moving at extreme speeds without tearing themselves apart. She probably hits like a truck, which would then be insanely amplified if she punched you while running. It's a good thing she only fights other Eternals or Deviants, not humans; she'd tear them apart easily.
Speedsters can end up feeling OP to the point they get written out so as not to kill dramatic tension, but with Makari even though she is powerful never feels invincible, you fear for her when she is fighting Ikaris and the Deviant.
Makkari is not only an amazing attack unit but also a great Support. The fact that she also priorities saving or assisting her allies in combat is great!! Love her!!
Yah. I hope that it doesn't stay that way though. I hope other creators take this and lurn from it. I would like to see a lot more seeders depicted this way. I think the whole genre from this example.

Watch the scenes in 0.25x speed and see just how impressive they made a speedster. When she moves or stops, it always affects the world around her. And It looks like she also creates a gravity bubble around her which affects the people she's carrying. And she uses that bubble to hit them like a truck. Impressive.
I love how they handled that. Flash has speed force, but most speedsters kind of just hand wave the physics aspect. Makkari uses her celestial energy to shroud herself and those shes helping so they dont get dumpsters by the g forces and friction.

This solves the usual comment on how speedsters are not decimating the people and things they touch. If you watched The Boys, A-Train, the speedster, killed Hughie's girlfriend when he ran into her. But Makkari is different because she can catch and carry others.
alright so im coming back to this video after watching The Flash in theaters solely to say, that this is the best display of a speedster in any live action film, The Flash was an atrocity of a film regarding speedsters.

The graphics in flash were insultingly bad. The stupid dialogue, story, horrible visuals flash looks stupid af while "running" HORRIBLE movie it's so bad. Shockingly bad. I never want to see that garbage again.
Sad honestly. There are so many big flash fans like he is the original speedster. So to have a speedster from a relatively unknown comic, where she isn't even the main focal point of the comic so completely out shin flash is a little sad. It's not like I dislike makari I just want to see them do better with flash. I hope other creators learn from this and we see more super speed done this way. Anyone reading the comments can clearly see the general public likes this a lot better.
I count the time she runs to find the point of emergence: 12 seconds around the globe (start just when she runs after phastos said the instruction and stop it when she literally stop it😎)

She was easily the most powerful one and they barely scratched the surface of her power. Always relying on her ability to travel distances and never on the massive kinetic energy she generated when she moved. Imagine her capacity to impact something even with her small frame at thousands of miles per hour and I think it's reasonable to assume she can go even faster than that. It was sad how they reduced her role to basically nothing until about 20 seconds in the final action scene with Ikaris at the end. So sad.

I love the fact that they've added this cosmic power sort of protective suit around Makkari, when she runs to address the inertia issue often brought up in speedsters.
One thing I noticed is that sometimes she runs normally at the start before she speeds up. Probably her way of starting/charging up her speed, pretty cool.

I saw this movie on Disney plus, I didn’t see it in theaters and somehow I managed to go all that time without spoilers. So from the start I was really hoping to see her fight Ikaris but like how DC’s flash fights in the animated movies, and Marvel did not disappoint at all. Because it was. Boring and uneventful, it lacked that "sauce" if you know what i mean. But makkari is god tier speedster and the best one on screen so far. It is sad how little she was in it, because i would be willing to watch only running and fighting for 2 hours if done as good as this was. Totally fucking amazing.

Makkari, Phastos and Thena were the main highlights of the movie for me. I can't wait to see her get some more character depth in Eternals 2.

@@thewolverine5895 in the comics the Superman is really fast but he’s not faster than your average speedster such as flash pietro and even makkari. Every time flash n Superman raced flash always won but Superman would get close to winning. That’s kinda a speedsters bag 🤷♂️

She was was the highlight of the entire movie. It felt like the director really understood a speedster and her fighting capabilities. She was awesome.

Watch the scenes in 0.25x speed and see just how impressive they made a speedster. When she moves or stops, it always affects the world around her. And It looks like she also creates a gravity bubble around her which affects the people she's carrying. And she uses that bubble to hit them like a truck. Impressive.
I love how they handled that. Flash has speed force, but most speedsters kind of just hand wave the physics aspect. Makkari uses her celestial energy to shroud herself and those shes helping so they dont get dumpsters by the g forces and friction.

@@TheN1ghtwalker There's a circular area around her when she's using her powers. Because of her speed, she could be generating a small gravitational field. This solves the usual comment on how speedsters are not decimating the people and things they touch.
If you watched The Boys, A-Train, the speedster, killed Hughie's girlfriend when he ran into her.
But Makkari is different because she can catch and carry others.

alright so im coming back to this video after watching The Flash in theaters solely to say, that this is the best display of a speedster in any live action film, The Flash was an atrocity of a film regarding speedsters.

The graphics in flash were insultingly bad. The stupid dialogue, story, horrible visuals flash looks stupid af while "running" HORRIBLE movie it's so bad. Shockingly bad. I never want to see that garbage again.

Sad honestly. There are so many big flash fans like he is the original speedster. So to have a speedster from a relatively unknown comic, where she isn't even the main focal point of the comic so completely out shin flash is a little sad. It's not like I dislike makari I just want to see them do better with flash. I hope other creators learn from this and we see more super speed done this way. Anyone reading the comments can clearly see the general public likes this a lot better.

I count the time she runs to find the point of emergence: 12 seconds around the globe (start just when she runs after phastos said the instruction and stop it when she literally stop it😎)
Her body form to bumps and jumps is what made her running realistic.
@@danbalares4818 yeah like the fact that when she jumps off something, it seems more like she’s thrown off by the momentum because she couldn’t collect herself to properly jump really made it realistic, because it actually takes into account the way a person moves when they’re going too fast

She was easily the most powerful one and they barely scratched the surface of her power. Always relying on her ability to travel distances and never on the massive kinetic energy she generated when she moved. Imagine her capacity to impact something even with her small frame at thousands of miles per hour and I think it's reasonable to assume she can go even faster than that. It was sad how they reduced her role to basically nothing until about 20 seconds in the final action scene with Ikaris at the end. So sad.

One thing I noticed is that sometimes she runs normally at the start before she speeds up. Probably her way of starting/charging up her speed, pretty cool.

Came back here to see one of the best interpretations of a speedster running instead of the Flash's way and depiction of running in the DC movies.
Her running animation is so dynamic it's like she reastically running, not just animated run in place movement
I hate it lol I hate it for the fact that Marvel looked at what they were doing on the CW with The Flash TV Series, and literally said "Okay, so we just need to increase the quality. We don't have to be too fancy with it to make it look good." Then... WB goes and literally Ignores what The CW did, and what Marvel did and gave us The trash they call Flash. Like all of it just looks fake even compared to the limited budget of the CW.
When I saw this Makkari scene I was so hyped because I was like well.. Marvel reset the bar on how Speedsters look with this. We definitely going to get better in the Flash movie.....smh Makkari is currently the best speedster in a movie

I saw this movie on Disney plus, I didn’t see it in theaters and somehow I managed to go all that time without spoilers. So from the start I was really hoping to see her fight Ikaris but like how DC’s flash fights in the animated movies, and Marvel did not disappoint at all. Because it was. Boring and uneventful, it lacked that "sauce" if you know what i mean. But makkari is god tier speedster and the best one on screen so far. It is sad how little she was in it, because i would be willing to watch only running and fighting for 2 hours if done as good as this was. Totally fucking amazing.
