I remember that tractor. Saw it at Tomah when Tomah was a single track venue. I was a young teenager at the time and it made a lasting memory that I will never forget.

That was amazing. If i herd correctly there is a part 2 and it almost sounded like its possibly still in existence. What a true work of art

Remember seeing Dave Stangle pull at the NTPA pulls at the Frederick Fairgrounds. Probably one of the first pulls we ever went to. Pulling was great back then! Saw Danny Dean's Red Rooster many time there as well.

I've seen this thing pull at Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Tomah Wisconsin in mid to late 1970's. Usually won. Even won unlimited class at Elkhorn in 1974.

"Boom Boom" Stangle and Solid Junk has always been at the top if my list. He was one of the first to somewhat perfect multiple fuel stages. Being a Red guy, Danny Dean /Rooster who won 10 Grand National titles and John Klug /Red Baron who won 9 Grand National titles are also at the top of my list. You should interview Kevin Winsor , your classmate someday. One of my friends bought a Ford pulling tractor from him 10-12 years ago and I got to meet Kevin.

I talked to Dave at Bowling Green Ohio in the early '70 s , he showed me the "breakaway " studs that held the turbo on . He did this to minimize damage when it went "boom" ! I was impressed with his propane delivery system , he had small electric pumps to run engine water through the regulators to keep them from freezing under heavy draw !

Great video. I drive by Dave’s home place few times a year. It is actually less than 30 miles from mine. Never got to see solid junk in person. It’s surely still there on the family farm there. But I got to do some deadweight pulling with him the last few years he was with us.

Awesome Video. This is the pulling I remember watching as a kid in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Thanks Bill.

Wish I could have seen it pull too. This is the most footage that I have been able to see of those tractors.
I think several here would enjoy a recent interview with Dave Banter. It can be found on Robguy's Garage channel. Be sure to watch the two parts in order. The first part's title is about finding the Banter Brown tractor. It is an extensive interview.

Great video and thanks for the memories ! Remember seeing Stangle run " Solid Junk " at the Purdue Tractor pull back in the late 70's in west Lafayette Indiana . Really good show and I've been in love with Minneapolis Moline tractors after that event ! 👍
Dave may have been running the MM 800 cubic inch LP Gas engine on his rig ?

Also new Danny Dean and Dave Harbage personally. Fun time. Even helped shave Dave Harbage tires with my father in law who worked for him.

I think I may have an idea why Danny's tractor worked so well. I know where the important part of it is, I think.
