    Thank you so much for showing us the differences between the TRI and TCA. I'm glad I purchased the TRI. Another cool thing about the TRI is that the genuine Harris AN/PRC 152 batteries and other accessories fit on the TRI.

      Well they fit on the TCA as well. Now wether or not they work remains to be seen. I typically wouldn't recommend doing that, but if it works...

    You are mentioning a programming cable for the TRI, but there seem to be no programming cables on the market, just one year later, while TCA cables are everywhere. Also, in other videos, TH-camrs state that the TRI cannot be programmed on a computer at all. Do you have the software for the TRI and did you ever actually program it on a computer?
    An answer would be helpful, not only for me. This question has been raised in the community many times, and your video was part of the confusion. Thanks.

    • @bhtshq3033
      @bhtshq3033  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @tyron.montgomery i was not aware that my video caused so much confusion. I was not able to figure it out as the computer i had it set up on took a major dive and I can't seem to get it back up. Also I have one for the TCA and that one has the same issue, so im unsure of what the issue is exactly? Wether it be a radio issue or a software issue I'm unsure, it certainly isnt a cable issue though.
      However I am making a video specifically to adress programming the radio without the cable.
      Its all fun and games to plug it into the cable and just use the computer, but the issue seems to be finding a cable that works and the software, which both are not supported on some of the newest operating systems, with some not supported at all.
      So here soon I will do a video on the radio itself showing how to use the different functions on both radios.
      Also I am going to a man pack for any ranged communications so my focus has been accessing and working on the repeater functions for a much larger radio, and I have been using the PRC152A as a Team mate to Team mate radio instead.
      Also I have been working on discovering and using ATAK for some RECCE uses and I'm trying to mesh that into how we use the radios and creating an SOP for utilization of all of the tools for call for fire uses. Also for medical and other such tools.

      Hey man, the more you guys like the videos and subscribe, and watch? The more TH-cam has to pay me for the ads they run, and it gives the channel more money to buy more cool stuff to make more videos.
      It's obviously a passion of mine, I love doing it, and getting positive feedback 100% makes it worth it.

  • @AntonChou

    Judging by the menu screen of the TCA you posted a while ago you seemed to left the switch 11 of the menu on. This is indicated by the headset icon on the screen without the 6 pin headset plugging in. Leaving the switch 11 on will result in forcing the TCA 152 to use headset only thus disabling the external mic/speaker on the body. Switching it off will set the TCA 152 in automatic mode which will detect most U94/Peltor style PTT.

    • @AntonChou
      @AntonChou ปีที่แล้ว

      BTW newer TRI(as you show in the video, metal body+KDU) also has similar setting which is required if the radio cannot recognize the PTT correctly, in my case an Invisio.

    • @bhtshq3033
      @bhtshq3033  ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried switching that back and forth and still no joy at all. So it doesn't work for me. I think maybe it's just this one radio is not functioning properly.

    • @AntonChou
      @AntonChou ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bhtshq3033 What's your switch 11 on the menu says? If it says rx sav. means you have an older model and requires modification on the PTT. Mine says ERP switch and turning it off should make it automatic.

      @bhtshq3033  ปีที่แล้ว

      My setup is the new TCA 152 paired with an Invisio X50. My problem is when I plugged the headset in, audio will come out from both the speaker and the headset simultaneously. My workaround is to go into the menu, and turn the 11th switch to Erp switch ON. Doing this will force the radio into headset only mode, disabling the built in speaker and microphone, so it will NOT work by design. An indicator that your radio might be in this mode is shown in the video where there is a headset icon while the 6 pin connector is clearly not engaged. While in this mode, when I turn on the radio without using the ptt, a headset icon can still be seen on the screen, and the built in microphone and speaker will NOT work. It might be a faulty radio, or in my case a perfectly functional radio with different setting.

    • @bhtshq3033

      Also though I found them to be equal on performance, the KDU with the TRI makes it more usable in any configuration I might need, but the TCA is more user friendly, but I also spent more time with the TCA than the TRI. I personally am not an RTO, and personally I don't need the ability to easily swap between channels, but the Como dude does for sure, so if you are a Med like me, the TCA is perfect, if you are a Como dude then the TRI is more suited for that, either way I enjoy both radios.

The firmware is so poorly written that it hasn't even been spell checked, The TRI version has no software programming support, and none of them do anything more than FM transceive (with a lot of spurious emissions) on on UHF & VHF - All the claims of HF transmission have been proven to be false.

      As for them being overpriced, I'm not so sure, they are way more well built and reliable than your run of the mill UV5Rs I have proven this to be true... the UV5Rs break very very easily, and are made very very cheaply.
