:D thanks
Thanks sir for the explanation... Watching frm zamboanga city, philippines...
Nice one Kit, great system overview.
Thanks 👍
Hello. I really liked the explanation and the way in which you sequentially presented a lot or almost everything about the modality slow jigging. Thanhs for that from Angola.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you very much for this condensed informations about Slow Jigging (and also all the referenced videos in the description)! Do not forget to refer to this Video when you are rigging or talking about Slow Jigging to avoid useless comments (mhmm comments are good for a video, respond to the comments with this video link that answer 95% of question! 🤗). I must point out its specialised SlowJ from a boat using Casting combo; most of people are Light Shore Jigging (10-60g) and want long distance casting ability, often using spinning reel. EDIT: i searched "shore jigging" on your channel and got all the answer... ☺I really enjoy all your content and the valuable knowledge shared😘
:)
Nice Kit - Probably the best breakdown on youtube
cheers! :)
The summary is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey Kit, great video yet again! 💪
Can you share your thoughts on the effectiveness of heavy tungsten jigs (120g-180g)?
tungsten jigs in that weight is great for high current situations. They almost 2x denser than lead...(1.7 actually) so you are able to present something half the normal size in the same depth. If it wasn't for the price, these jigs would make more sense when you fish in very deep water. So in effect, you are able to present something smaller to fish that might want a snack...as opposed to meal...which is actually, a very good way to get bites. I use them in times when getting bit is close to non existent.
Thanks sooo much bro!!
:)
I hv been extremely confused about the line and units, now it's okay!
I catch lot of big bottom fish around 20kg but inside me i was sure that something wrong in my settings - thickness, big reels, no respect for the rod numbers...
All your youtube content make a sens, best pedagogy ever seen from a professional angler!
Keep safe, thank you much Man)))
My pleasure!
Thanks
much appreciated!!!!
great video Kit, Thank You.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very informative as always,thanks kit
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Kit, thank you for one more wonderful Video..
:) Gad you liked it
You had me at “this is the best” haha
Well, seeing how other videos just want to sell you stuff...and they aren't even as complete as this :)
Thanks!
Thanks very much Paul!!!
In our spot sir stimated 100 to 200 meters depth, what i use rod, reel, braided line, leader line and a jig? Thanks sir and more power. Watching from zamboanga city philippines. I want to learn more how to using a gadget for fishing, im a beginner sir. Thanks and more power sir.
Thank you for this very informative content. Even if i amm not jigging yet. I saved your content. Love the guide, alll of them
Glad to help!
Hi Kit, Once again great video. Could you explain for trips that target jigging for large YF or DT tuna. Going for trip early next year. Details on gear and technique will be much appreciated. Thanks
FAST/SPEED JIGGING :D
Exactly what I did recently, bought Ocea Jigger 1501 beucase it's lighter and small. I'm having problem with Ocea 2001, because too big for my small hands and much heavier..
Hi Kit, great video as always! I have some questions, maybe as topics for separate videos.
1. HG/PG/XG reels, I have seen videos of yours, but I have sometimes the issue that if the reel and the retrieve are too fast, the rod cannot "keep up" contact with the jig, as if slack is built up when I retrieve. I have this problem with slow and fast jigging. Is this only due to poor technique or something in the combo jig, rod?
2. We see more and more solid rods for slow jigging, what's your opinion on this?
Try and check your jigging intervals...you might be doing things too fast. Solid rods are heavier than their hollow counterparts and they dont transmit vibrations efficiently - i dont want extra weight on my systems and i want them to be as sensitive as possible.
Wise and clear thank you! What about the spinning reels fan's we need your say indeed pe2 is perfect but what if we fish on heavy stractures on bridges chains or rocky areas which line size do you suggest!..
Like I said in the video, if you need stronger gear, you go with Fast jigging - its what it is designed for. Also...there is no such thing as spinning gear for slow jigging.
@@TheFishingKit Thanks for the reply you mean all spinning reels need a fast jig lure?! Wow I was to buy a lot of slow jigs instead il change and pick the fast jigs as long am a spinning reel user! Are ugly stick GX2 good rods for jigging as long don't go more than 100gram jig!! Sorry for lots of questions!!
@@Munir-yi8gn the uglystick is not designed to be a jigging rod. Slow jigs are designed to flutter, you need to thumb the spool to give it a lot of resistance to make the jig position itself vertically for the drop. A little slack and it starts to go horizontal. you can not apply enough pressure with a spinning reel - no matter what people say...there is no such thing as slow jigging on a spinning reel.
Great Video as always. Just a few questions. Can you do SPJ on an achored boat? For deep drop 400 to 600m which PE line wud you suggest? x4, x8 or x9+ braid strands? How much drag do you usually use for spj? Thanks!
@@ShinkiZer0 from
An anchored boat - yes. But you will be dropping at pretty much the same place so not that efficient. Slow pitch is a technique within slow jigging as there is also a fast pitch technique. The more strands on braid the more stretch it has. Drag - not going to touch this as people always argue that their method is better than mine so i stick with what i use and as for other people, not my problem.
@@TheFishingKit thanks kit
Great video thank you. Here in Australia they all use a 80 pound leader and in some place 120 pounds with there jigs because the fish bite the leader sometimes. I’m new to this and watch your videos and enjoy them learn heaps. Iv lost a few jigs when using 50 pounds leader it’s not my nots maybe my drag could be set wrong. Even using bait here you can pull it up with a big fish on and they break 100 pound leader any thoughts on that thank you
I'd switch to fast jigging to be honest, it would be more efficient and you can really pull hard and you can use very thick leaders and line.
In Sydney we're mostly getting bitten off by jackets... sometimes they hit the PR knot when they're bad 😂
@@MrGavo1978 no the right time to be slow jigging...again, if it requires heavy lines and leaders, fast jigging is the way.
@TheFishingKit jackets is Aussie slang for leatherjackets... they're similar to triggerfish. Off Sydney there's sometimes huge football field sized schools of them sitting mid water. They literally eat anything including your knots 😂
@@MrGavo1978 I know what you meant :) we have them here, but not as bad as there. They are good to eat by the way. Also called Filefish. :)
Hi Kit, what other angler specially some US angler told that 1foot per gram? what could be the truth, I followed your guide in 1gram per meter
@androidernme7498 the anwricans did not invent this - the hapanese did. The gear used is either japanese or copied from them - so lemme ask you now, which one do you think it is? :) some idiot who thought he was so smart came up with the 1g/foot now he can't undo it and is trying hard to cover his tracks.
@@TheFishingKit Agree with you on this Kit, and I fully understand your explanation when I re-watched one of your vid, thanks for the information and it's really help and I learn a lot
I fish from the shore in estuaries I understand the finesse aspect but going light I have disadvantages of alot of snags sharp coral dead trees and trash. How heavy can I go with braid and leader without sacrifing presentation. Shore micro jigging.
this is not the video for your question, so I will delete this as soon as you post it on the right video. look for a shore jigging video in my channel and ask there.
My issue with the PE system is it doesn't relate to any weight system on how big/ heavy of fish you can stop. It sounds nice when you have this system pe 2 rod, 200g jig 200m water depth and the reel will hold 400m, but this is meaningless in fighting strength. You still have to convert pe to pound test to target a spefic fish for your location and how quickly you need to stop that fish. My other issue with line manafactures is that if you check out line labatory, they are anywhere from 120% to over 200% out on line diameter size. So the numbers say you can fit 300m of line but it can end up you might only get 220m. If your trying to fish 200m you expected 300m of line and only got 220m thats leaving 0 wiggle room.
The reason I use the pound test system is because I start at the question, what fish are you targeting. You can determin to stop it before it hits a reef and bricks you, you will need 30lb line. Then you can determin what rod and reel will fit the 30lb line for the depth you are fishing and the area they are found.
All i want to know on a reel is max drag strength, and a wide range of line capacity in diameter IN MM. To say a reel holds 300m of pe2 between the manafactures claim being out and the PE system having a variance of +-0.03mm covering a pe size you can be out close to 100m. If i see a reel printed 0.18mm/350m, 0.22mm/ 300m, 0.26mm/ 350m i have a very good guide line of capacity.
the IGFA would disagree with you...see, if we follow your train of thought, then please explain exactly how Capt. Jim Anson caught a 12.02 kg (26 lb 8 oz) greater amberjack on 1kg (2lb) line. the fish is literally a few times over the line he is using AND...it's a freggin amberjack that's a fish that lives in structure and dives into the sticks when hooked..
This is not isolated....the IGFA has thousands of line class records from panfish to marlin that tells you - your line poundage has nothing to do with how big of a fish you can catch...OR at the very least, be the only determining factor. I fly fish and it has taught me that even with a thin and weak leader, you can catch pretty sizable fish. I am not here to argue - just pointing this out. There's literally thousands of records on both conventional and fly that you can check for yourself.
@TheFishingKit comparing a wold record to what someone should use for every day fishing is not realistic at all. I catch fish to put food on the table, and because its fun to do so. It deppends on the bottom or the tax man in the area you are fishing. You need to ask how quick do you need to stop that fish to successfully land it in the area you wish to fish.
My point was that the PE line system is an arbitrary number that is defined as a range of known values. Look at any fishing line capacity calculator it will not use a PE value.
A hypothetical situation in the future say a line is developed from spider silk synthetic thats 4x stronger than current line of that diameter.
So lets say as a example that a PE 2 setup is ~30lb and your rod and reel match. Now you get this new line in PE 2 put it on the setup, its not correct. You can't mesure a rod by a PE rating not all lines are created equal. This is even proven amongst current lines made that can be off by as much as 200% on rated values and massive differences in tensile strength.
Spooling a reel in PE system works because thats what that mesurement system relates to. But why would you change from mm/ in to PE? You are replacing one value with another and its not even more accurate or adding additional value to the system used.
@@Side85Winder no, im not comparing a world record to anything, but you were talking about a poteltial - ie your pound test line catching something. So you are saying a 100lb line can catch a 100lb fish - i am showing that a 2 lb line can catch fish thats quite big. Its very objective. Just showing you cant use line size as an excuse coz its the wrong way of thinking that it is the only factor. Fishing line calculators made where? You need a calculator because of what exactly? Because you need to figure out how much lb to put on a reel? But the reel sats exactly how much PE it can hold. American gear does not know exactly how much it can spool of anything so you need a calculator. Pe is a standard. There is no standard used in the west. Thats why you need a calculator 🤣
Is slow jigging only suitable for catching bottom fish? Or also good for mid to upper column pelagics? In my area at a slow feeding day, the spanish mackerel stays at upper mid column at around 15m depth. I fish at 30-40m waters.
Of course not. Whatever made you think that?
@@TheFishingKit ok. Next trip ill try keeping my slow jig at 15m where the pelagics are at.
@@jairusaudwin2605 I think I have a few videos on the channel of us jigging up some tuna with slow jigs. They were holding at around 60-80m in very deep water.
For 30-40m of water depth what size jig would you use?
you have to be more specific than that.
👌👌👌
so do all these rules/guidlines apply if you are fishing somewhere that produces 20-60Kg fish in 20-60meters of water? Cause in Australia standard rule of thumb when fishing near or on reef with live bait or dead, e.g bottom bashing is 80Lb or higher.
That's basically PE6 or PE7 line, unusable for slow jigging. PE3 is usually the max one would go to for slow jigging, otherwise the currents will have too much pressure on the big diamater lines... For fast jigging you can go PE6+ tho, it's not important to be so vertical there
@@benaiahgains7976 your question is pretty much like this - do you finesse fish in the same conditions you mentioned - if the answer is no, then there's your answer. If you need heavy line this method isnt what you should use - use another method that uses heavier line and leaders - can you guess what that is?
They are giving the data of how many grams of jig you can use with the rods. I have never heard that the rods are designed for specific water depth
I explained why in the video. 1g/m plus allowance for current. Watch the whole thing carefully so you don't miss out on the detail.
