It's difficult to comprehend how large these things are, until you see one face to face, especially 8n Alaska. I was hiking and there he was, five feet away, chomping some shrubs. It always amazes me that an animal this big can dissapear silently through the trees so quickly.
Yeah, I saw one not too far away when I visited Alaska 3 years ago. I can quite believe that a healthy bull could fight off a grizzly. They are massive!
My Grandparents had a farm in Northwestern Minnesota, a town call Stranquist,pop.38. Just came across your video. I’m from northwest Minnesota growing up. We had a lot moose in our area in the late 70’s and early 80’s . I was lucky enough to see the same thing but it was -25 f that morning. Steam was following from both animals! Just wanted to thank you.Brought back good memories!
That's what I thought at first, but I think it was actually just the person turning on their car without their seat belt on. You can hear the ignition and then their lights come on
Amazing footage but could be had from behind the safety of your vehicle. Have you ever seen what they can do to a vehicle? Getting out of your car and risking drawing their attention to YOU...together....all the insurance in the world would/could have been useless. Don't sacrifice commonsense for 1:+ minutes of video. I doubt your family and friends would consider it worth it.

Moose are unlikely to get spooked from anything or anyone. They are a spectacular beast, huge, incredibly powerful, very unpredictable and aggressive. During Rut they are very dangerous to encounter as they pretty much tolerate and fear nothing and often will take on anything in its path including vehicles. I definitely would not recommend rolling down windows or opening a car door for a photo op.
i knew a person who was stupid enough to honk at a moose like that in the road and they had to cut her out of the car w/jaws of life. she was on the floorboards and the roof was down to the seats it stomped the car flat.she barely survived.

it looks like the end of their 'stand-off' with them visibly snookered out and dripping saliva. They were maybe going at it for 10 minutes before the car came upon them. Just saw a recent video called "Two bull moose dueling in an Alaskan suburb" on Reddit. Found 4 different views of it here on YT. When they are too exhausted to go on, they both walk away.
Just film them & keep still & quite, oooh no we r gonna put the car in gear so the bell kept bleeping then they r in & out of the car talking.... People stay away keep these animals space & use your zoom lenses to get closer shots!
@George Rusch I suspect a bull elephant in musth is more dangerous than either. Testosterone levels go up by an average of 60 times, in some bulls far more. Bulls in musth will attack even females and young of their own species. "Musth" means "madness" in Hindi.
@Kilnmaster My thoughts exactly. Messed up a perfect moment. Reminds me of the fellow that got out of his car to get a close and personal picture of the feeding lion pride.

When going outside, I always survey the nearby woods, as I never know when she'll be there, and if so, how close they are to my front porch. Always an adventure every day!
1000 pound moose and you can get 500 pounds of meat. Imagine paying for 500 pounds of beef in a store when a moose tag costs 200 and something and a few dollars for a bullet. In the end it's cheaper to hunt.
You are probably thankful that those 2 bull moose didn't have a bigger long drawn out fight because you were in the "ring" so to speak. What would your insurance say with antler holes in your car and big dents? However very exciting nevertheless. I was also thinking both moose would still have offspring.

Nature can be very fierce. These two big full grown bull moose, let their tempers flair on each other with their full head gear, and can be dangerous to nearby humans. People should respect these huge animals, and stay a safe distance, or in their cars. Although these fights occur only in the rutting season, when the more dominant bull claims the prize: a plethora of female cow moose to breed with. The very fact that they are fighting in front of people's cars, on a road, is equally more dangerous. Any one animal can become pretty destructive towards any "very close" human being. This is when humans put themselves close to an ensuing battle between the two "Titans" at a time they shouldn't. These battles usually have one winner, and one loser, but rarely lead to a "death-match" where one, or even both succumb to their injuries. The victorious, and dominating one usually claims his cows, following them to a secluded spot away from any other bull moose, that happens to be nearby, while the loser just scrambles away, and concedes. I must say, as the moose is my favorite animal, that this is really incredible footage. Thanks for posting!!

Moose have very unique antlers. Especially good for receiving HBO.
But not Showtime.
Can a moose kill a brown bear?
Yes there is a reason brown bears don’t prey on healthy moose they only prey on their young and the weak or old moose
There are lots of animals you just don't want to get near when the testosterone levels are running high. The mighty moose is at or very near the top.
